that is what the nac paper were talking about some of the players were caught drinking. That is a class act by coach harper doing what he did. i remember law did that to us when we got into a fight with tyler lee we suspended 12 people and played nac short in 97 but still won. but tyler lee did not suspend anyone for there big game against JT.

ive gone to lufkin every year except for half of 5th grade when my dad got promoted from 1 church to being in charge of 70 so we were in nacogdoches for half of my 5th grade year and mcannich was a horrible thrower...my what a difference 5 years makes...moved back to lufkin at christmas...my bro stayed at lhs and i wanted to go back to lufkin by xmas...luckily a year later we got the district to move so it went from the nac dist to the lufkin district

this is a rivalry game and anything can happend when you have emotion and everything and playing at home things can happen.

but great game to the Dragons they got them a new coach and a winner and he has set the example for the dragon program in the future and they will do good this season.

Nac is a lot better than previous years. Bill Harper is no slouch as coaches go. I hope to have an even closer game next year! Good to see some improvement from our neighbors on the wet side of the river.

I am not trying to make anybody mad but its true. They actually spit on away players at their home game. I have said this before but yall are like no we aren't, well... come on! I know it.

Not really. Nac sustained most drives on LP penalties and never really threatened but once and resulted ina blocked FG. Did have a few good drives, but scored as a result of a gift (fumble on the 10yd line). I was there and LP never really seemed to get in sync until late in the 3Q. In the first half Claybon had a hard time hitting his targets, but seemed to settle down in the 2nd half. Once the LP offense found itself (lol), Nac simply could not hang

Nac has improved, but we had too many penalties, turnovers and some mental lapses. Nac will be very competitive in their district.

All in all LP did not look like they were up for the game and slept through 3Q's. :cool:

They'll be ready for the district opener where things really count! ;)

I know Nac will be up for this game this year and playing at home will fire the up even more and two weeks of putting up 49 points, huh think this game may be closer than some think.The pack had better not take these Dragons to lightly. They need to go out and put the points on them early, that will take the wind out of their sails.

Look, i was in shock!! This is the first time in many many years that this game was not over by mid way through the third and usually by half. Lufkin usually wins by 35-40 points when they play Nac but am telling you this team has improved. They are well coached now and i was impressed. Never thought i would say that about a Nac team. They can make some serious noise in 174a i kid you not. Yes Lufkin played very sloppy with many turnovers yes Lufkin doubled their total yards about 434 to 220 and about 75 yards of the Nac's offense came on a play with 1 minute left on the 2nd string defense to make it 27-14. 2nd string or not that is still not an excuse to not be off your man and giving some cushion when you are up by 20 with 1 minute left and they have the ball at their own 28 or so. Lufkin's defense looked great but the offense was very inconsistent tonight. Either way hat off to the dragons i never in my wildest dreams thought this game would have been close going in the 4th quarter. :eek Harper has something there i believe?? we will see??


The Lufkin defense is easily one of the best if not the best in the state but you never know with this offense. Klein Forest has a good ball club but i think Lufkin wins big at home. They are almost unbeatable at abe.

It was ugly to pack fans because Lufkin usually beats Nac 57-3. They have not beat Lufkin since 92 and have lost 19 of 20 to the pack. Hey, this team is much much better though i am not going to lie. Lufkin dominated the stats but committed too many turnovers to blow them out. Sometimes you have to win ugly on the road.

I do not remember any punt return for Nac going 20 yards?? Usually it bounced and Lufkin downed it?? The offense is what was ugly tonight. Yes they had well over 400 yards of offense but they just did not look right. Too many 3 and outs and too many turnovers. J Turner and Shankle need to run the ball more and i hope coach outlaw realizes this. Kibble is a hard runner and a good kid and he has a very hard worker and outlaw is rewarding him but i think Turner and Shankle are 3 times the backs then he is. Not knocking Kibble because he is not a bad runner but that is just a fact. I am not saying do not give Kibble the ball at all i am just saying give the ball to J Turner and Shankle more. I know shankle is a wr but they still have running plays for him while at wr by using options and reverses.

No he is not bad at all. He is a solid runner!! The o-line was not getting a great push up front when rushing so it was not entirely his fault tonight. He did his best!! Turner and Shankle looked great when they had a few chances to run the ball. Shankle now has 2 carries for 60 yards and 2 td's for the season.

LOL ok we stunk it up for on offense for 3 quarters. LOL I am sorry but the defense looked great i cannot say anything bad about them. Well I guess everyone got Wide to look back at what I said. Don,t worry wide I been called worse names than that :D .I,ve read lots of you comments, and I don,t know you peronally, but I got you figured out dude.I laugh at lot of your statements. But, I don't think the game is that close. I'd take Lufkin about 38-17 or so. I honestly hope for a good game. If LP goes up there with a lousy attitude as they have been known to do in years past - it will be an ugly game. _________________________

I think that score was probably one of few that weren't 55-3. This was clearly more a game of Nac. making a 180 degree turnaround as a program than Lufkin playing poorly. Nac. could very well be in the playoff hunt if they stay healthy. They won't beat Kilgore, but they could sneak in. Coach Harper has done what he was hired to do - find the talent, and coach them. Follow the wins trail - he did it at Marshall and he will do it at Nac.

Great second half excitement - horrendous officiating - the Nac. announcer and scoreboard dude make you want to get a gun, but a fun game nonetheless.

Lufkin has got some work to do to be ready for district. The O-line had their worst outing, but give Nac. credit. Coach Green is going to have to realize that 15 dive plays a game won't cut it without the big man at rb anymore.

Take away the blocked punt and LP's fumble on it's on 10 and I think LP would have won more like 35-7. BUT - this team cannot just show up - and everybody knows it.

Hat's off to Nac. - they have this program finally moving forward. Lufkin showed grit on a tough, humid night -and came home with a win, ugly, but win nonetheless.

But didn't I hear that 3 of Lufkin's starters weren't allowed to play (by the coach) due to some trouble a few days before the game? And wasn't there at least another one (starter? not sure) that was ejected? Not sure...heard it from Wide and don't know if his sourse was reliable either...he's asleep, I can say that now. So do you guys think that made a difference in how they played? That if they had had their full team that it would have been different? Just wondering.

If Lufkin had 3 starters not playing - I didn't see it - certainly no high profile players. Yep - Lufkin had another player ejected - I think it was a second team db - but I honestly never saw it - nothing overtly flagrant at all.

These issues had no bearing on the game at all - nice to meet Mrs. Wide.

And I could have completely misunderstood, too. I'll have to ask him when he gets up. I was kinda wondering since no one brought it up. In a way, maybe wishful thinking on my part to help explain some of the struggles. Thanks Again!

Leave it to the crack Lufkin radio crew to not mention a peep about two starters missing last week's game including Leonard Hewitt - and then talk about 3 starters missing this game when either a) they were wrong or b) the starters were offensive lineman who inter-change regularly anyway.

I will say, however, if that was the case on the O-line - it might have had a bearing -they did look pretty poor for much of the game. No line push and limited protection for Jeremy in the first half.

The player ejected was something ticky-tack - nobody saw anything on my side. I think it was a second team cornerback - but just not sure.

You guys know more about it than I do but maybe this shook 'em up a little and they'll be back to what they should be next week, esp being a home game. Maybe they were a little too relaxed playing Nac and thought they had it won before they got there. ??? Who would have expected Nac to put up such a fight and actually give Lufkin a run for their money at any point in the game. I know what everybody's saying about KF in the other thread but I don't see Lufkin losing (or even coming too close to losing) at home.

I thought the radio said it was Nac's main runningback and a couple of their players that got in trouble at a party and could not play, and not Lufkin

A few starters were injured but most teams have those by now. R Murphy on dl and M Raines could not play at wr. He really is not a starter anyways because the LP wr core goes 5 deep. Lufkin had no excuses with personell last night that is for sure. Nac came to play!!

Read in Nacogdoches Sports Section that the starting quarterback did not play due to off field problems. Starting running back hurt his ankle in practice during the week and couldn't play. Said both replacements were sophomores. looks like they have a goodd future.

The starting rb story is true but not the starting qb. Both qb's have split it up and both were just as successful for Nac in their first 2 games. They have been using a 2 qb system. I hear both are very equal.
