Most of my "Southernisms" specifically identified Texas as part of the area where they are commonly used. Go Figure.

82% Southern and to answer their question, yes, I have a number of Confederate ancestors. On my mother's side, the relatives fought under General Bee, but I don't really remember the exact unit at the moment. On my father's side, great grandfather was in the 4th Virginia Infantry, part of the Stonewall Brigade. Speaking of which, the great great grandson of Stonewall Jackson lives in the metroplex. Pretty cool I think.

I changed 2 answers and my score went from 70% to 93%.

Guess being married to a Yankee hurt my score - I only got a 48% and I am the descendent of several Confederate soldiers, a couple of Revolutionary war soldiers and 1 Texas Revolutionary war soldier. Guess I have just picked up his bad yankee habits. BUT, some of the words I use weren't in the list and I got them from my grandparents. Not a fair test, I am protesting.

I do call all carbonated drinks Coke though and in NY - that's just what I'll get. They didn't even have Dr. Pepper the first time i went up there or iced tea...it was a travesty. They would bring me hot tea with a cup of ice:rolleyes:

Something seems out of whack with this.... I first got a 73% Dixie but when I went back and changed answers that indicated a more southern or southeastern response it went to 48% Yankee. Being from the Carolinas originally with at least 3 generations before me on all branches of the family there is no way I am 48% Yankee.
