Jay @ Reagan ------> Reagan
Lee @ Seguin ------> Seguin
Madison @ O'Connor ------> Whoever brings a ground defense

Madison and O'Connor are so closely matched on O and D stats that this is a toss-up (IMO). In week one the Madison O ground game was shut down by a strong looking San Marcos D. What will O'Connor bring to this game after last weeks lose to Boerne? Madison O opened up the ground game against Taft last week (proving only that it's not the same Taft team that eliminate Madison in round 2 last year). I think after Boerne Mac, this will be the area game to see.

How do you pick'em?

O'Connor is Young starting a mix of Sophs through Seniors. Boerne had the size advantage as well as experience with an all Senior Team. Boerne lost only three starters to graduation last year. Good news for O'Connor though is that these kids will compete for a district crown and be loaded for the next couple of years. Last years Freshmen Team went undefeated...mostly blowouts and a good number of those kids are up on varsity.

What I understand is that O'Connor is bigger then Madison....but not as fast. Don't think Madison can run up the middle....but outside the tackles...yes. O'Connor has one of the top DBs in the Region in Anthony Hemphil....but he can't cover everyone.

On the reverse...O'Connor should be able to run as the size advantage here goes to O'Connor. The QBs are fast and you'll see several different running backs. If fatigue becomes an issue...O'Connor has the depth and will be swithing in and out several players.

This will be a great game....and I have a feeling it will be a high scoring matchup. Flip a coin....and your guess is as good as mine. Truth is that no matter who comes out the winner here.....come Regionals there are the two big guns in our way in SV and Judson.

See you in the stands on Sat night....

So what's new...I just try to enjoy the season and not worry about playoffs.

Agree with your points on defense, but I think one will show up prepared and able to adjust to whatever the other teams O presents...just a guess...that determines this outcome.

I agree with they way you see the game being played, but you forgot another 'gun', Clemens! As I remember it, O'Conner didn't fair so well in the Regional Final in 2003 at the Alamo Dome and our defense is even better this year!

O'Conner has come a long way in a short time and I believe as you do that in a couple of years they might just be the team to beat in SA area! Good luck to the Panthers this year.

clemens?

I see you are from Nowhere. Is that in Texas? I thought I knew just about every town in Texas! It must not be if you haven't heard of Samuel Clemens. By the way, what school do you choose to root for?

If you want me to talk 26-5a, here it is. It's simply Judson & SV. I'm not saying that Roosevelt couldn't not steal one from either of the two, it's possible if they improve and Judson or SV have a bad game against them. But, the simple fact is that everyone else is playing for 3rd place! We beat Roosevelt two weeks ago 15-3 and our offense was horrid! If our offense hadn't had 9 penalties and two stupid turnovers, it could have easily been 35 or 42 to 3. I'm not saying that the 3rd place team couldn't have a very good run in the playoffs, but it will either be SV 1st and Judson 2nd or vise versa. I'd bet a month's salary on it

i see, but i still dont see. really trying to discuss 265 weekend matchups, didnt see clemens or roo mentioned in another post in this thread...just discussing weekend matchups, not regionals, not state, not greatest state champ ever, not most state champs ever, just weekend 265 matchups.

ps NO WAY I'd bet a month of my income on a high school football team.

Well, since this is about 26-5A....Reagan's performance tonight was pathetic.

Madison vs O'Conner could be a good game but I don't have a good enough read on Madison yet. I will be at the game to see how Madison does. I was at the Boerne/O'Conner game and O'Conners lack of a passing game really takes away their running. Unless that game was just a bad game by the starting QB (#10 played better), I don't see O'Conner winning this one. Madison's still has their speed and very good weapons on offense. I like Madison 35 O'Conner 14.

Until I see something to change my mind, I still think it's a safe bet to include Madison in the playoffs. MacArthur has not shown quite enough for me to favor them for the 3rd spot. They did end the year blowing out Madison last year and played SV close. I expect Mac to win the next 2 weeks and the SV game will show how serious they are about making the playoffs. I'll go ahead and eliminate Lee and Reagan from the playoffs.

SV- In
Judson-In
Madison- Maybe
MacArthur-Possibility
Roosevelt- Probably not

Churchill- Not happening
Lee- No
Reagan-No

Churchill is not living up to it's hype and Reagan is just plain pathetic. I'm not sure which is the true team, the team that played the first two games or the team that played last night.

i'll NOT agree with the pathetic part...look at madisons history...the problem reagan may have is the same one that has plagued madison from the beginning of time (1980 whatever)...CONSISTENCY. it takes the right combination of a lot of things to achieve consistency and madison has come close, but has not achieved.

I'm still mad at the lack of effort we exhibited last night. Yes, consistency would be Reagan's problem. Another problem for Reagan is they're falling in love with their news-clippings. They looked exactly like they did against Clark in their scrimmage. I would liek to say another word for this but on Defense, Reagan was palying girly(I would love to substitute that word) ball. They weren't tackling. Our quarterback looked like Patrick Ramsey. Two of our drives ended in picks. It was a horrible game, and just like Coach Wetzel told the paper "Everyone on this team is to blame"

Lonny23, I can agree with your selection of playoff teams for 265a. We won't really know how the 3rd playoff spots plays out until we get a few district games rolling. I do think Churchill has a chance to get better. Their problem is on defense. They have a lot of under classmen playing and those kids are good but unexperienced with the speed and size at this level. I think they will get better. The problem is they have to get better now. They start with SV, Roosevelt, Madison, Judson, MacArthur and Reagan. They don't get Lee until the last game of the year.

Churchill's two last district games should be easy enough to win.
