Rather than hijack the other thread, I'll start a new one.
LISD is getting touted as being able to grow with multiple high schools and still produce winning football programs. WOS87 started this when he quoted "How did Lewisville ISD escape the curse? 3 of their 5 senior high schools have nabbed 4 State titles in the past 14 years ('93,'96,'97,'05)" I almost "called him on it" when he started this. Statically correct (Never argue with WOS87 on his statistic! He's the best!), but I think very misleading! Hebron is certainly part of LISD, but in many ways it ain't! I don't plan on arguing that part, so don't try.
Lets focus on Lewisville high school. They are the winners of two football titles in the 90's. Their total record in the 10years since is 63-46 and very few PO wins. I guess that's not too bad, but not worthy of the program that is (was) the Fighting Farmers! Their record the last 5 years is 18-31!! That's pretty ugly! This was done, largely, with the same football staff in place, so that's not the excuse. If not the opening of Flower Mound and Hebron high schools and Marcus filling out, what?????????

If not for the opening of Flower Mound High, Lewisville and Marcus would still be in good shape. As for Hebron, alot of the students that attend there would've probably went to The Colony. Also, considering Hebron is actually in Carrollton, some of the students probably would be going to one of the Carrollton schools. I also noticed that Hebron is also right on the edge of Plano.

How does that work. I mean if a student lives in Hebron in the Lewisville isd, and probably goes to a Carrolton school, are they doing it illegaly?, paying tuition? Dont you "probably" go to the school in the district that you live in?

There is some truth to that except all the Hebron kids would be at The Colony with the exception of very very few. Not one would be at any of the Carrolton schools.
What FMHS and Hebron did was raid the staff of both Lewisville and Marcus. FMHS hired Cody Vanderford as its HC takign away a great OC from Marucs. There were other assistants from LHS and Marcus who went with him.
When Hebron opened they hired Brian Brazil as its HC taking away a great DC from LHS. There were other assistants from LHS who followed along with him.
One of the things that hurt LHS a lot too was when OC Bill Petrozky retired after the 01 season. He was our OC during the title years and left for Denton Ryan for 2 season before he came back to LHS.
Like many growing districts we are experiencing growing pains and that is not an excuse for our lack of good football teams lately. We just havent had the athletes or desire the last 5 years that was present during the 80's and 90's.
I remain optimistic that one day Marcus and LHS will return to gridiron glory but only time will tell.

grayowl, I'm not accurate on that subject, I was actually speculating because of the school actually being in Carrollton, and on the edge of Plano.

Hebron High School only educates students living in the Lewisville ISD. This includes portions of 6 cities or towns in Denton County.
Students from Frisco, Plano, The Colony, Lewisville, Carrollton and Hebron attend Hebron HS. None of these students are eligible to attend any of the following high schools or school districts:
CFBISD (Creekview, Newman Smith, or RL Turner)
Frisco ISD
Plano ISD
The Colony HS - LISD
Lewisville HS - LISD
It is an interesting attendance zone.
Most of our coaches came from Lewisville HS when Hebron opened. The kids would have attended The Colony HS if Hebron had not opened.

Chalk up 2 more state titles for the LISD. Marcus in boys soccer and The Colony in girls soccer. Thought not as dominant in football as we once were we are still doing pretty good in other sports.

Damn! That's about as strange, as strange gets.
My wife graduated from Marcus and we have a friend that coached in the LISD. He said LHS always got preferential treatment, see the 9th grade campus there only.
From an outsider, it did appear they were the last affected. FMHS and Hebron really did seem hurt all the teams in the district for many of the reasons Farmer stated. Interesting, they still have had some top notch non-football programs, Drumline/Band/Soccer(boys and girls)/baseball/etc.
Another point, FMHS and Marcus will soon have 9th grade campues. Not certain about Hebron and TC, but I think they might as well.

Marcus people have been complaining since 1986 about LHS receiving preferential treatment. That simply is not the case. Never has been nor will be. Marcus 1st ever football coach was Que Brittan who coached at MHS from 86-99. He was on Neil Wilsons staff at LHS up until Marcus opened in 86. He coached on that staff with Tommy Briggs and Ronnie Gage. When Marcus was built it was built with the intent of being a 9-10th grade school. The LISD had considered going to the Plano plan but quickly shot that down and turned Marcus into a senior HS. In my memory I can think of 3 different expansions at MHS including a new gym in 97. They received everything LHS did in terms of support and resources from the LISD administration.
As far as LHS being the least affected when FMHS opened that also is not the case. LHS lost a huge area of where a lot of their great athletes came from. The Forrest Wood region in Flower Mound was a LHS zone and athletes such as Jarred Howe, the Brazzell brothers, Dustin Grimes and other great athletes lived in that area. When FMHS opened they inherited Forrest Wood middle school and that area of athletes. It always cracked me up when I would hang around my Marcus friends because they believed they were so mistreated when that was not the case at all. Factor in that people from Highland Shores and Bridlewood were complaing about bing "mistreated" it just made you laugh.

My coaching buddy was not at Marcus, he coached at TCHS w/Briggs etc.
I know the Macus history pretty well. My brother in law was part of the group to go to Marcus and then Lewisville. My wife was part of the second graduating class.

Then what problems did he complain about? TC was 4A until 1992 and was given quite a bit. They had numerous amounts of athletes come there way via North Carrollton, their own stadium, a nice gym, received an indoor facility when LHS received theres.
I'm just curious how LHS received preferential treatment over TC and MHS.

The conversation was right about the time Hebron and FM were being built opened. I don't recall real specifics, but he was very involved in the coaching decisions.
LHS lost some of their FM base, but how much did they lose compared to Marcus?
Same with TC and Hebron. Compare what TC lost to Hebron to LHS.
Where was Brazil coaching prior to Hebron, what about Vanderford?
Which school had a 9th grade campus for many years prior instead of having enrollment moved in VERY large numbers.
Why was LHS North the only 9th grade camous in the district for 10+ years?
Add all that up and you have staff from TCHS and others outside LHS feeling that the former LHS coach and LISD AD(Wilson) would do what they could to proetct the old school.

Why and how does a 9th grade center effect that? Enrollment is still the same.
Before Brazil was hired at Hebron he was the DC at LHS. He took a bunch of Gage's staff with him.
Vanderford was at Marcus and took some of the Marcus staff with him to FMHS. So I dont see how that favors LHS.
LHS dropped about 300 students to FMHS when it opened. Marcus lost about 500. In fact Marcus has a larger enrollment now than they did when FMHS opened compared to Lewisville which has stayed around the same.
As far as Hebron being built, it wasn needed badly. Just considering how kids from Plano and Carrollton were being shipped to TC.
I guess when your the only show in town for up to 90 years you will have people ***** about favortisim. The fact is that was not the case. Go talk to Que Britan or Cody Vanderford or Brian Brazil or Randy Mayes or Chip Burt andthey will all tell you that LHS does not receive preferential treatment.

Keep in mind when looking at all this that city limits do not equal ISD limits. They are mutually exclusive. The ISD boundrys can be found on the ISD website and overlap city limits all over the place.

A new bond issue will come up in 2008 and a 9th grade campus for Hebron HS will be in the bond package. If it passes, construction will start immediately.

Yes, you are correct. I didn't include them in my answer since that school is located in the City of Irving and doesn't touch a city that sends students to Hebron HS.
One unique thing about Ranchview HS is that almost 70% of it's student body is different each year. The majority of the students live in apartments in Valley Ranch.
