Everyone else just needs to resign themselves to fighting it out for second place in the 800 relay this year.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=2ZLArif8b20
This was the first meet of the year mind you, and they ran mid 1:28. They haven't had their fastest guy running the last few meets(second leg, who you can also see on the links on the right side of the youtube page as he dismantles the competition with a 21.47 in the open 200 the first week of the season). They were taking the Clear Creek 800 relay over Texas City and Dulles until they dropped the stick on the second exchange. It should be a good battle for second place though, good luck to you all.

I never knew Rashad Mohammed, the second leg, was that fast. He did tear into North Shore pretty good in this year's playoffs though.
Third Leg is Jarvis Moore, who will be a senior running back next season for Lee. All of the others are seniors, and all were football players.
And, of course, I'm just being funny with the trash talk, so no one get too mad.

That was the first meet of the season. 1:28 mid is a damn good time for the first meet of the season, in 50 degree weather with wind blowing all over the place. There was no one within 35 meters of them.
They were leading Dulles and Texas City, who have 2 of the top 8 times in the state, in last week's meet in Clear Creek until Lee dropped the stick.

For reference, Angleton ran a 1:30.7 that same week in early February. Now they have run a 1:26.62, and are ranked first in the state.

Just get ready to lose to Humble at the district meet:p
We have a pretty good relay team but our 3rd leg keeps changing. Coach mills is messing around with who he should put in their, but i think that if he sticks Jarret Malone at the 3rd leg no one in district will be able to touch us. Jarret is probably the one of the fastest sprinters in the area.. at practice he clocked 10.41 at the practice i attended....
Should be fun. You going to the District meet Panama?

I should be there. It depends on my schedule. I have to work every other Saturday. I want to goto the TSU relays, but I have to work next weekend. I should be at the Rockhold Relays the weekend after that here in Baytown.
Lee has a pretty good 400 relay team too. They ran 41.8 to finish behind Texas City and Clear Creek last weekend. The 800 relay team though is the one where I think they are really good. I think Mohammed should be in good shape in the open 200 too. Thomas Bates and Mohammed both triple jump over 45', so we look solid there. Bates long jumps 21'. Luis Gonzales is pretty good in the shot put and discus. That's about it I think for what Lee will be scoring at district.

You're right. If that time was the best they could muster, and they were already deep into the season.....it's not an elite time. Still, 1:28 flat would put you in the top 10 in Texas right now, even this deep into the season.

Hey Hum, I think I got it figured out that I will be at the district meet. I will be working next week, off on the 31st, working on the 7th, then off again on the 14th of April, which I think is when district meets are held. Is it going to be at Turner again as always?

Ill be at the TSU Relays... Should be fun, i only hope that Humble decides to run their best runners. i really don't get how Mills runs his program, but he produces at District so i guess thats all that matters.
Humble will probably place in the 110 hurtles, 100 m dash, 200m dash, 400m dash, 800m.
Relays are a definite if they can get the right mixture of guys in their.
Field events we are pretty weak at... We will place in the Shot Put and discus but thats about it. im not to sure about the long jump

Lee has no choice really but to run their best runners. We only got 5 or 6 of them. It's kinda tough at times, because most of them run at least two of the relays. Mitchell runs all 3 I think. DeBoest runs all 3 usually. Bates only runs on the 1600 relay, but also does the lj and tj. Mohammed runs the 800 relay and the 1600 relay. It's tough for any of them to compete in any individual sprints. Jarvis Moore runs the 400 and 800 relay, and he will probably be on the 1600 relay too once district rolls around.

And not just any meet either, they cleaned up at both the Arlington Bowie and Lancaster, crap they might even win Jesuit this weekend. I guess you havent figured it out yet. I'm being a smart-A about the whole speed stuff. I'm sick of hearing about how "FAST" everyone and the "Teams" in the Miami-Dade Co area of South Florida are.
I hear Florida people screaming and yelling that we Texas people just dont really ever see real speed and ect. We dont have "Fast" football teams and ect.
The whole Miami-Dade "MYTH" of all this super World-Class speed everywhere.
I already showed one dude from Florida how the (electronic times) from the Florida State track meet and the Texas UIL State meet clearly show that when it's all said and done. Texas owns Florida for the most part when it comes to "SPEED" at least on the HS level.
It all started basically over the future SLC vs Miami-NW game and how some Miami people were trying to claim that SLC hasnt ever and probably wont ever see a "FAST" team like Miami-NW.

FAT is Fully Automatic Time and it is the offical timing for track. Hand time is what many track meets use but it is not offical. He is fast though...

If that time was handheld, than it never should have been represented as a 21.47. It should have been shown as a 21.5. A widely accepted conversation from handheld to FAT would have added .24 sec. His converted time of 21.74 can then be compared to the other time on Texas track's list. Hopefully this young man will soon run where FAT timing is available (Texas Relays?) and he can take his place on the performance list!

I gotcha. You have to round the time AND add .24 .
For credibility in the track world, you do.

I didn't convert it, because I diodn't feel the need. You can see the video. If anything, the hand time was worse than what he actually ran. Break down the video if you like. I do see your point though. I looked at the seeds for the UTSA relay lol. I couldn't help but laugh at the times I saw teams from the valley coming in with(obviously hand held) then seeing their FAT for their relays about 6 seconds slower. They really have some quick/slow fingers on the stop watches in some places.
I think I can safely say for Rashad Mohammed though, his actual 200 meter time isn't 21.47 or 21.74. The actual time is "faster than yo ***." With the yo being whoever else is lined up on the track.

Jarvis Moore runs the third leg of the 800 relay. All of the rest are seniors. Dywaun Deboest was a starting cornerback and runs first leg. Mohammed runs second leg, Jarvis, then Anthony Mitchell runs anchor, and he was a corner, but didn't really start too much.

Is Moore pretty fast? He looked very speedy on the field, but it could of been football speed. You know how you have those guys who couldnt beat you in a foot race if you wanted, then you get on the field...and you wonder where the hell all that speed came from.

Moore is pretty fast. He's not a threat to win any sprint crowns though I wouldn't think. He probably runs around a FAT 11 flat in the 100 on his best day. I'm just guessing with that. He ran 10.66 at Rockhold Relays last year, but I bet that was some home cooking in Baytown on the hand held timing.

To the person who asked what meet this was. It was in Deer Park.
The results of the 800 relay had Lee in first, North Shore in second, Yates in third, Alief Taylor in 4th. There were some pretty decent teams at the meet. Elkins and Dobie were also there. Lee also wiped the floor with them at the Lufkin meet, beating Nacogdoches, Lufkin, A&M Consolidated, etc.

I thought he was pretty fast from what i could tell against Humble last year. he was doing really well against a pretty fast defense. I have to say, i am very impressed with the young man... All 3 times i saw him, he was above avg in my mind.

He's just so small. If he were even 2 inches taller, I'd say sure fire D1 back. If McNorten only got offered by North Dakota State, I just don't know what to think of Jarvis. I know we will definitely miss him when he's gone. He's pretty much going to be a four year starter when it's all said and done.

Maybe he will grow over the summer, You know a Summer Break can do wonders for a football player.
Moore(lee), Malone(humb), and Michaels(WB) (is that him or is it willams...The Westbrook back) are the Top RB's in district... Malone didn't get alot of carries last year but was still able to mange an 8.3 yards per carry when he did get the ball... moore is a Solid back... and Michaels will be Unanimous All-district.. Dark horse is Braden from Atascocita...
Mcnorten just didnt have the team to help him look good... He def. was good enough to start at any of the major Universities. He was in my opinion one of the most talented backs in the state...and went very much unnoticed. His ability to cut and makes those moves in open space were just jaw dropping... I really enjoyed watching him... Great Athlete...Amazing athlete.

Michael is the better of the two at WB, but the other one is good too. I'll need to see this Humble kid. I know he played some last year, but I was so focused on Brown, that I didn't get a good look at Malone
Humble always has so many guys that are like carbon copies of each other, plus their names are like some made up names you might see on an NCAA football video game when you get to the recruiting portion of the game. Darby, Ragland, Bowman, Malone, Riggins...the list goes on. lol It's tough for me to keep them all in order.

I know exactly what you mean. we always have a heavy stable of guys... This year are only problem is the lack of experience on offense...Defense is set (10 total returning players, 6 or 7 returning starters), but offense has alot of YOUNG guys.
. Funny when you mention the NCAA names..
Some Humble RBs since 2002

You would think they would do more with the talent they spew out of their... i really hope we get a better coach in a couple of years. I love Beasley and everything, Great Teacher...But he is better off as an OC. I would love for Aymond to come to Humble like it was rumored a couple of years ago (when ever Quillen announced his retirement from HC).. they Guy just knows how to use the talent he is given... And Humble is a great place for a Great coach to build a Championship winning monster... but it has yet to happen.:(

We didnt deserve to win that game anyway.. Mills shouldnt have been our main source of pts. No doubt that we would of won the game if Mills had stayed in, but how far can you really go when you have all your chips in one guy? We had other talent, but we just didnt use it the right way... Mills was a Beast...:D To bad he dissappeared(Football wise) after his Soph year at Arizona State.

Lee should have whomped them both that year lol
We had already laid it on West Brook that year. All we had to do was get by Hastings, then take care of West Brook again, but nope, had our worst game of the year against Hastings. We threw 4 interceptions to lose by 10. We were up 7-0 early and going in for another one. Reminded me of the Colorado-Texas Big 12 Championship game that Texas had in the bag til Chris Simms started throwing picks left and right.

that was the good days for region3; that's when katy had to really step up and play because there was some legit teams out thre that could knock them off easy. after that year wb was never the same; but stump has brought the pride back and i think they could start to make runs like they did in the 90's and 80's.
beaumont use to be known for it's talent; but a state championship has not been there since 1982!
i hope the running back gets the ball this year because they just didn't use the sophmore last year.

Personally i dont think Stump knows what he is doing. He has a two headed running game that could of pulled them all the way to the Regional Finals. I was personally very dissapointed with Stumps coaching at the Falls game. i dont feel as if they should of lost. BW has alot of talent still, the coaches just havent used it right... Sort of the same story at Humble. NS type talent, but the coaches put people in positions that dont magnify their talents. Humble, Westbrook, and Lee all have 10-0 Talent.. but i think Westbrook, and Humble have 5-5 coaches.
