I wanted to make a thread just 4 Mustang chat...so I did! Here u can talk about Coach Aymond, the 2003 & 200? state championships, games (real, fictional, probable, etc.), the upcoming McGinty, Tolbert, & Jones combo, other present or past players, greatness, or anything else that comes to mind when u think of the NS Mustangs :D !

All Mustang ALL THE TIME! (like there's anything better!:D )

I know there's another thread out but 2 can't hurt!

Great! Only problem is, I don't know anything about y'all... Well, I did go to the NS-Lee playoff game and I know Ralston Dews' and his family pretty well... And I heard there were rumblings because not many kids got signed this year... Oh, and I have a membership at the Channelview YMCA which I'm paying about $75 a workout for, but other than that... :)

Good going #1 fan! After last seasons ending we need something interesting.
I wallowed in the 2003 season for a long time and am just now coming out of it to reality 4 years later.:D A team like that comes along about as often as a Vince Young. We were blessed it was at NS but I'm ready to see another title run (as we all are). I would be glad to see them just make it to the title game again so they would have more appearances under their belt. I would be glad to see another team like the 96 or the 01 bunch. I was looking thru some old news papers I had and saw the write up about Tiki Hardeman. It was a good story. Too bad about his career.

I read the book awhile back and thought it was good. I was thinking it would have more play by play of each game but it seemed it skimmed the best part of the season with a lot of personal internal player problems. Not that it was not interesting but I like to read how they dominated everyone and crushed them out of their path.

HAHA OMG! Me too! I'm ready! Honestly I don't think this yr. will be the yr. though... but they alwayz say the best things are those that r unexpected... or something like that. They also say hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. So I hope we have @ least another season like 96 or 01, but I'll prepare for 1 worse than last season.
I remember seeing the players in 03 and thinking how big they were. I think now that's what NS is lacking is the size advantage, b/c they have the talent no doubt. I'd be willing to bet if every class that came through NS had boys the size of 03 or even just a tad smaller we wouldn't have stopped @ the 2nd round in especially in 05 and 06. From what I've heard we have some more big ones coming via the fish class but that could all be talk. I know I ran into a girl @ Kroger who had on her CMS basketball uniform and she was almost bigger than me. I hope the boys in her class are the same way.

"THE ALMOST" a short story by #1fan!

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a293/cassandraed/almost2-1.jpg

There once was a boy who lived right on the edge of the imaginary line that divided GPISD(NS) and CV, unfortunatly 4 him he was on the CV side. :( Every time this boy saw someone representing NS he would talk trash, but ONLY in public.
When he got home every Friday night, he would stare out his bedroom window sadly. From that window he could see the GPISD stadium lights just above the tree tops and he would think of what almost was. After four years of this pathetic behavior he decided to become a CV faithful & bash NS and all of GPISD for ALL ETERNITY. From that day forward he would never be "The Almost" again.

THE END :D

4 the record I love CV ppl, no hate here! Good luck next yr.!

They will be playing Beaumont Westbrook in the opening round of the playoffs on Tuesday March 27th at 8pm at Charles Street in Humble..... should be a good one... my only problem with them is that they sometimes have problems scoring.... however, they create many opportunities so hopefully they can find the back of the net early and often in the playoffs....

Of course not  those oilers!

Well I guess like Dews he was scared he might not get a scholarship w/ Aymond. I guess he figured anything was better. Now I dunno if he left for football reasons or for something else, but either way good luck to him.

Oh yes more good news! Looks like we can continue to enjoy a Home football game every other Friday night plus the luxury of being able to pull from both CMS and NSMS! They have started construction on the 10th grade campus over buy the 11-12 campus. The building will be built in the parking lot furthest from the stadium and on the grassy area next to the school. So we should be able to enjoy the NS super skool for @ least another 5 yrs.! The only down side is it just causes a big jam when kids are trying to come in and out of skool. I get there early so I don't have to deal w/ it but the tardy line has been extremely long since they closed the other entrance.

On another note I was reading It's My Life and I got so frustrated when they got the skool opening dates wrong. They said the Sr. High opened in 1995. I'm like 99% sure it opened in 1999 correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm not sure when it opened, but I don't think it's 12 years old. I'm thinking more like 99 as well. I'll check on that. What do you think about having a 10th grade campus only? We don't have one here in LaPorte. We have a 6th grade campus like NS and it's worked real well. You should be getting ready to graduate....are you excited?

Well from what I've heard the skool is scheduled to open in the fall of 2008. IMHO the original spit was a good idea. There seriously is a maturity difference. I used to ride the bus last yr. and the freshman got on my last nerve they were loud, obnoxious, etc. (I'm sure we were the same way but had I known maaan!) So I feel pretty bad for the class of 09 b/c they will have to put up with the 10th graders and I know a lot of my fellow srs. feel the same way.

It really is time for a new HS, but I guess u could call me selfish b/c I don't want them to build one. I enjoy all the talent we get from both NSMS and CMS, I enjoy being part of 5A, (I imagine if they did do a spit we wouldn't be 5A and that would mean I couldn't really talk about our Mustangs on this board!) and I enjoy the home games every other week on friday.

As for graduation if they gave me the option of graduating tomorow I would say yes and not even blink twice! I can't wait!

This recruiting stuff is very confusing to me. North Shore's never had trouble sending players to the college ranks under Aymond. I know that North Shore has something most schools don't in that they have a recruiting coordinator, or at least they did in 2003 when we visited.

When I got to tour their facilities at GPISD back a couple years ago, I was very impressed with everything. In my opinion, a player will be recognized by the right people (especially at North Shore) if he is good enough to play at the next level.

Based on what I know about Coach Aymond, the whole thing just seems wrong. If it weren't for him, North Shore might still be going 2-8 or 3-7 every year.

On the subject of new schools being built, I was wondering if anyone knew what the school they are building along the beltway right before the San Jacinto funeral home and I-10 is going to be. With it being where it is I can't see it being an elementary school unless they closing Cloverleaf down.

As fas as the scholarship thing goes I'm sure they do all they can for those who really express an interest in going to college no matter if it is to continue their athletic career or not. As was said before on this subject as much a parents want it to be going to college and playing on that level is not for everyone. There are a ton of great high school athletes that just don't have what it take to make it on the college field or in the college classroom. Now I'm sure there is a kid or two every year that they could have pushed for a little more than they did, but you have to take into account they aren't just trying to get scholarships football players they are trying to get them for every student athlete that wishes to apply for one.

that school on the beltway is SAM Houston Elementary.. and no they are not closing Cloverleaf. Just redrawing the boundaries will give them plenty of kids for both them and cloverleaf.

and i agree with your second paragraph.. yes aymond can help.. but the student athletes need to do thier part as well.. market themselves both on the field and in the classroom.... it takes a big effort... and many issues have to be resolved besides just talent on the field in order for offers to roll in.... i dont think we have heard the entire story on this..... so ill just leave it at that...

Most of us Mustangs feel if it is going to happen it will be this year. As I said before, not knowing what we will have this year and, after seeing Pas Memorial give them a scare last year, they could easily lose 2 games. TWHS will be the toughest one. They return a lot of starters and the game will be at Moorehead. I don't know about the district as to who will have the guns this year so the rest will be an unknown. The good thing is NS has the coaches and the program to keep the ship afloat. Maybe we will all be surprised this year.

for the second game in a row.... an unranked NS squad has taken down another houston area ranked opponent. NS and clear lake played to a scoreless first half.... lake scored about 10 mins into the second half... and took a 1-0 lead.... with about 7 mins left in the game... NS scored the equalizer.... NS scored in the first overtime period to take a 2-1 lead... and never relinquished it.......and just a sidenote....NS was without in my opinion.. thier best player... they played well despite and came out on top...

now on to the regional semi final.... to play the winner of cinco ranch and morton ranch friday at 5:30 at abshire stadium in deer park..... you mustang fans... come out and support the stangs...who have upped thier record to 18-3-7 on the season... ..

yes... we lost to morton ranch in the regional semi finals..... it was a close game ....and NS was every bit as good as morton ranch... MR came on strong at the beginning... NS put pressure on them after that.... and it went both ways.... good sound game... NS just made one defensive mistake against thier best offensive striker and he put the opportunity in the back of the net.. and thats all morton ranch got.... and it was all they needed.... it ended 1-0.... Morton ranch went on to defeat kingwood and they are headed to state.... so good luck to them.... NS will be back.. they will have this same team next year... we were without our best player.... a sophmore for the last two playoff games... but thats how it goes....he was injured... but we will be back... two years in a row making it to the regional tournament.. and next year looks bright as well....

Possibly! I'll have to check the paper!

In other news the new unis have been confirmed! They're supposed to be mostly black and red! I wish we could go with mostly black and red trim but it might resemble Wesfield too much. Those dang mustangs! So from the sounds of it they'll be mostly red with the black trimmings.

It sure felt that way. I believe they were reading the papers too much and thinking they were invincible. They did'nt take care of business. The first 5minutes of that game everyone was saying "Here we go again, another blowout" but P land wanted it more and took it. NS this coming year is a huge question mark. I don't think they have the horses yet to dominate. They can easily lose some reg season games this year. It may be 2-3 years from now before they come back.

Big Daddy Cool
04-18-2007, 06:04 PM
I hardly think that with one loss you can say a team is losing their edge. Now if we were to lose say two or three games in a row to them, then yeah I guess you could say we might be losing our edge. As was said above after the first five minutes it appeared that everyone except for the Pearland football team had given into it being another dishearteining lose to North Shore. The first half ended with Pearland showing that they weren't ready to throw in the towel despite being down. And it was they who came out in the second half on fire and because of that they were able to take control of the game and go on to victory.

So to answer your question no I don't think North Shore is losing their edge.

I don't think next yr. will be our yr either, but I like to have hope that aymond can shape a lump of clay into a beautiful vase!

@ least the game b4 PLand was AWESOME! I think we're one of the few teams who have had recent early exits that can say that every yr we've been beaten by a team that (in a close game too esp. this yr and 05) has gone on to the semis or farther! This yr. Region 3 was really anyones, but we had the D to knock anyone off the map just not the matching offense.
I will alwayz and forever believe that if we had the 05 team this yr. SLC might not have gotten their 3-peat.

They did and the game was closer than the score showed. Shore went ahead in the 4th quarter and WF came back on them. I don't think, IMO that the 05 team would have taken SLC. One reason is we did not have the QB to make a championship run.

It's been a problem but at the same time I think its been a blessing as well. I mean we have never really had to rush a kid into the position. Our depth has allowed us to develope a player before giving them the keys to the car. There are a lot of teams that are forced to throw a kid in there even though they may not really be ready to take the controls and move the ship.

Braylon Gurnell (DE): Air Force Academy
Chris Ganios (RB): South Dakota
Julion Conley (LB): New Mexico
Vance Fizer (QB): Arkansas
Terrance Hall (LB): Kentucky Western
Joshua Morris (LB): Kentucky Western
Marcus Jones (DE): ???
Matthew Bolton (WR):??? but he does play baseball
Jimmy Garrett (OL): I heard rumors of Blinn

I'll make sure to give any updates or changes. If I just listened the state then I'm not sure what college exactly but like I said I'll try to give updates.

U know the closer we get to the start of the season the more faith I have in this 07 team. If the D is as fierce as it has been for the past few yrs., the OL proves to be sturdy, and Jones just breaks out this yr. I think we'll have a pretty solid team.

Seeing that the defensive coordinating hasn't changed (I don't think) I expect them to be great as usual. Coach Kay should have them ready to go. I think McGinty will do just fine. He has the experience and w/ Tolbert @ the recieving end things look bright. Hopefully Jones' speed will be put to good use and if he can find the holes we'll have another great RB on our hands.

Anyone know when the season tix go on sale? Also, good articles about Bobby Reid in some of the pre season college mags. OSU plays Sam Houston this year and that will pit Reid against Bomar. The no 1 and no 2 QB's of the 03 recruiting season. OSU has made some strides in building their team so Reid may have a super good year.

The funny thing about him was that even though he had played football all his life, even had a dad who coached at a neighboring school, he never talked about it or watched it.

Do you guys know where there are any old rosters? I'm curious to find out when he played...:)

I can go back to NS's first years as a new school but after a stint in the military I lost track until the early 90's. What is your friend's name?

Steve Brightwell.

I knew some Brightwells in North Shore during the late fifties and early sixties but don't know him. Back then NS started out being killed by everyone as they only had jrs and sophs the first year. In 1965 they had the first winning season but as it went into the 70's they became the whipping boy of everybody until Ed Warken and David Aymond came along.

I'm sure all have seen that our boy Cory Redding was resigned by the Lions to the tune of $49 million over seven years with $16 million of it guaranteed. He's also been designated as their franchise player which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

His aunt and uncle and cousins lived there too. In fact Steve and his family didn't live there until later, probably when he and his older brother Don were in high school. I'm pretty sure he graduated in '71 (maaaybe '72) and played varsity at least two years. Thinking back I think his dad coached at Channelview, but quit to watch Steve's senior year. He didn't get to play part of his senior year due to injury, which if I remember correctly cost him his scholarship. All of this is 30 year old memories of conversations. He didn't talk a lot about it. When I knew him he was a great guy and he looked like he played football.....the guy could swim a mile or two without a break doing the butterfly stroke....for an aerobic workout and rode a bike everywhere. He was a very physical guy...:)

I think he has turned into a pretty decent receiver for us. But I would like to see them still give him the ball on say a reverse or may be a little slip screen or something like that. He is too good of a player for them to not get the ball in his hands as much as possible.

I just remembered his uncle's name was Charles Brightwell. I don't know what his cousins' names were, or if they played ball. His dad, Doug Brightwell, and Charles were brothers. I think Charles was an administrator at the hospital out there in the mid to late sixties, the one that was (is?) up on I-10. I think his dad played in the Canadian league back in the day. I hope someone reads this that remembers them. Thanks. :)

i dont think height is an asset for tolbert...i believe hes 5'9".... but i agree that the ball should be in his hands more than it has been... although there were some dropped passes last year that i think should have been caught 10 out of 10 times...... but maybe with one QB to work with he will be even more involved...

Those would have been Steve and Don's first cousins. I think Don graduated in 1970, and played tennis instead of football. I think he was pretty good and worked later on as a pro at the Southwest Tennis Center. Also their parents opened a racquet club in Lake Jackson, but I don't know what happened to it or them. They were good people. Thanks for the interest and response. If you run into anyone who remembers them, I'd love to hear about any stories they have. Feel free to PM me. :)

Hi everyone,
I just popped in to see how my Mustang fans were doing and to see if everyone was getting ready for the new season. I see Pearland has already popped into the thread that was for NS Mustangs. I think it's so funny...they beat us once and you'd think it was the other way around. What happened to them after they lost last year. They never came back on here. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the season. I hope we do well, but I am a little worried about this year.

Welcome back Proud. We're just lollying around until the season starts which is not too far away. The general thoughts on our Mustangs this year is that it is an unknown team to us but we are expecting Aymond to put a good product on the field as usual. Because of the unknowns this is a season they could possibly lose a district game and in predistrict, they face a good Woodlands team in the Woodlands which, as you may know are hard to beat at home. But, we're gearing up and excited that we can and may be pleasantly surprised.

Why??? Was it that bad???

OMG I graduated in 1978 and my years were bad....real bad....do you know how hard it was to sit in the drill team and be made to yell Go Mustangs when you are losing 72 to 0. Then we get to the buses to go home and all our tires on the bus have been slit. Of course, the football team got picked up and taken to eat, but the band and drill team had to sit in the band hall until 1 in the morning waiting on buses. It's night I will never forget and that was many years ago. We were bad...real bad. My 9th grade year I think we were 9 and 1 and Baytown Sterling knocked us out (I think). Other than that we stunk!

Hey NSMustang,
Well I'm getting excited. That's one thing I love about my Mustangs...you never know. I was just telling my dad on the phone I was a little worried about the Woodlands this year..especially with it being on their field. That game is almost as nervewracking as the Lee game last year. I haven't talked to Coach. I emailed him last night, but haven't heard back. I am sure he is busy. I wish there was enough time before the games to all get together and do something fun. We need to have a bbq or something. We need to get the fans pumped up because they are going to need it this year.

The only bright spot from the 70's was Tommy Woods.

Tommy was good - He was a year behind me
Billy Boaz was pretty good too
For the most part though - we stunk - but we still had alot of pride - something I think NS has alot of

Well from what I hear SLC is somewhat of a homogeneous society (mostly upper class) North Shore on the other hand is diverse. We're a mixture of many social classes and races. I've been a memeber of this board for almost a yr. and I havn't seen a NS thread or post revolving aroung race or social class and that may be because of they type of community we live in.

As for the "no other team works hard"... I dunno I guess that's what an amazing win streak does to some ppl.

I've never felt that race or social class had to do with how well one plays and I think it would be pretty bold and ignorant of me to think that no other team works hard.

Fan you always say good things! There are too many teams in this state that work hard and you can find them at all levels of competition. I just don't think NS fans are concerned with any peripheral hogwash to worry about anything but how Shore will do in the season. Nothing matters but how good you are on the field. We can't worry about anyone else. And don't want to.......

Thanks and I agree. I hope the boys pick up on that. In 2005 all they could think about was Westfield. They mowed over PL and lost to WF. This past yr. I kept hearing talk about state that's all I heard was "state this and state that... SLC this and that". I guess the previous PL beatings made them assume they were going to do the same and they lost. I hope this yr. the guys will focus on one game and ONE opponent at a time.

But I was just looking to buy the regular season tickets and they said those tickets hadn't come in yet. So they took my name and phone number and said they'd give me a call when they came in. I remember when Aldine and Aldine MacArthur were the only two teams we could beat when I was in high school....I remember when they knocked LaPorte (I used to watch them alot in the 90s) out of a playoff game in the 90s and it was the saddest day coming out of the dome.

Just curious what business it was. I moved to NS in 1956 as a kid and knew most of the businesses and stores. It's changed a great deal since then obviously. Woodforest Blvd at the time did not go thru to Channelview and when it did they called it Mainbocher.

Fan, there's about 7 or 8 guys from P-land that work with me, and they all try and give me the business. All I tell 'em is, we've been smashing y'all for 5 yrs or so, and now that y'all have won one time on a fluke with a missed call, all of a sudden you're the dominant team in the region.

exactly.. they win one time ... and all of a sudden they are on the same level...... the still need to win 2-3 more from us to even the series.....but yes i find it comical as well... all of a sudden its like they own us... but the records between us say otherwise.....

Don't know how many made it out to the game but it wasn't a pretty sight to say the least. Thankully we pulled out the win, but if this game is any indication of what's to come we may be in for a longer season that we might have thought. Scary thing is the defense has usually been good enough to hold things together until the offense get's everything fine tuned. But tonight was one of the worst displays I've seen in a long time. There was a ton of mistackling that you don't usually see from a North Shore defense. And it appears that the word that this team was a lot smaller than past team have been is indeed very true.

As far as the offense goes I know we keep saying this year after year and some have taken great exception to it even to the point of issuing man to man challenges, but I'm sorry I think if we are to ever get back to another state title game or even a run remotely close to that season there needs to be a change made at the offensive coordinator's spot. I mean your trying to run your bread and butter play that being the sprint draw with a back that is only what 5'6 and weights 180 sopping wet. It just doesn't work when all a defender has to do is bump him and he falls down. And on 3rd and 21 a runnign play is the last thing you should be calling. And when there are eight men in the box and you call a running play that's just plain ludicrous.

I really hope they put in a hard week of practice and get things back where they should be as I don't want to see this kind of play from week to week. Playing like this may get them through district ok, but it's going to get them run out of the playoffs quick.

im going to have to disagree with you.... this is a different defense overall... there were many new faces out there and it showed.... the first half... yes.. they missed tackles... they missed some coverages.... especially in the secondary .. however.. those things can be worked out.... and i know they will be worked out... you have to remember... aldine has a pretty decent team and you can charge 14 of those 30 first half aldine points to those two fumbles deep in NS own territory.... second half looked alot better all around.... Offense looked good throwing the ball as well as running the ball.... yes deandre is small... but that other back.. cant remember his name.... is bigger and ran very well..... the running game was just fine.... and passing was good.... i havent seen the stats but it looked like a pretty balanced attack.... and in the second half.. NS defense allows only 7 points and scores a touchdown... and NS outscores aldine 28-7.... NS looked HORRIBLE the first half...and both offense and defense had something to do with that... but in the second half they played well and it showed.... they still have things to work on.. but the defense will be there... athletes are there... they just need to work on better tackling.... and work on thier coverages.... you have to remember... this was the first game for a BRAND NEW team.... and yes they were out of sync.... but they got it back together and closed the show nicely.....

North Shore did just fine. Aldine had talent, alot of talent. It would be hard for anybody to hold 4 or 5 reciever sets with a QB and a RB like Aldine had. Aldine is a playoff team 7-3 at least, no worst than 6-4. How many teams have 3 or 4 cover CB's. Any team that runs a conventional offense ( 2WR's,a TE and 2backs) will struggle agianst North Shore. If North Shore wasn't any good tonight would have been an ugly loss being down 30-13 at on point.

Seems to me that everybody has had those first week issues, so don't overreact. To wit:

Pearland only 13-7 over Kempner? Obviously a big step back from Region III champs.

Baytown Lee losing to 4A Beaumont Central? Obviously plenty of room for improvement from a team we all think highly of.

Stratford won but has a lot of work to do to get its offense back to last year's levels of productivity.

Cy Fair showed that without Sam, they are beatable, and they lack balance offensively even if Sam is back.

Brazoswood tied at the half against Pasadena Memorial?

Seems to me that only Katy and Cy Ridge (can't say about West Brook) are top ten teams who have the right to really swagger after Week Zero.

I am sure we'll all see lots of improvement between now and our second games. There always is.

We only beat Kempner 19-6 last year and 20-8 the year before that. We always play real sloppy the first 2 weeks. North Shore is the team that usually comes out swinging. Three weeks into the season last year people we're saying NS was the team that would beat SLC...

Fist off... Baytown lee never starts off the season full throttle. they run a complex offense for a HS team, and it requires alot of Execution...Alot of Lee fans expected to lose to Central. They get better as the season progresses

Second, I think that Westbrook is very overrated. The coach down their refuses to run his bread and butter, and stick to a passing attack, when they dont have the talent to do so...it wont work like that...They have some offensive scheming to do.

North Shore started the game horrible..... but by the second half... i liked what i was seeing on both sides of the ball..... aldine is a good team... and they played welll and they played with intensity.... but the defense has speed and they have characteristics from past good defenses.... they just missed some coverages and missed some tackles... that can be fixed... the athletes are there and they will just get better... i was happy with the offense as well.. they put up 48 points... and they did by running the ball.. AND throwing the ball.... they really opened up the offense as compared to last year..... so even though ppl will look at the score and think that NS has slipped.... thats ok.... we are inexperienced...and that will come soon enough.....im happy with how they played the entire second half..... .

I have to lean with Spartan on this one. The D was not in it against a very motivated Aldine offense that wanted to avenge last years rout. NS defense has not allowed that many points since being crushed by Westfield in 04. The second half was a different story. The issue that stands out with me is the offense being able to generate that many points to come from behind. In the last few years NS has not had to worry much about being behind and I always
was concerned if they could pull it out. They showed some heart in a scary game. You can bet Aymond will have them paying for any lackadaisical attitudes this week before Ike. Also, did a NS fan say they could beat SLC last year? I sure hope not.:D

NS didnt play well in the first half... however.... by the end of the game.. they looked like they were in pretty decent shape..... i was happy with how the offense executed both passing as well as rushing the ball.... they didnt have too much trouble moving the ball... and it looked balanced....the defense had some miscues in the first half and couple that with the offense coughing up the ball deep in NS territory just made matters worse for the defense... however.. they got it back together and the second half was a totally different story....

North Shore

- Has to kick up the offense right away... falling 30-14 to IKE isn't an option. Ike overall is a better team then aldine simply because they have a better defense and better quality athletes. their strong point on defense is the secondary with FS Carig Loston leading the way...he reports runs a 4.2-4.3 (probably an exaggeration...but the kid was the fastest kid on the field besides Jarret Malone..and in a 80meter dash would probably beat Malone...100 is a different stroy).

- Has to come out expecting IKE to be motivated by their Close loss to Humble. While Humble did have a 28-14 lead over IKE in the third...this IKE team showed that they also aren't quitters...which is rare for an IKE team...They came back and scored 26pts quickly...racking up 400+ yards through the air..mostly on big plays. The defensive secondary will have to get ready.

Overall Ike has some freaks on their team...but aren't as disciplined to pull out a close one. but are good enough to keep pulling away if you let them... Ike Can score, and do it fast.

No..he did VERY well. 415 yards through the air.... . Its impressive no matter how you chalk it up. The thing IKE wasn't able to do against Humble was run...only 75 yards on 33 carries. But its a testament to our very good defensive line and LB's....They play sideline to sideline. Our secondary was just absolutely baffled by that seam passes...we never adjusted.

we have an open next week, which will give us sometime to try an figure out how to make sure we cover that seam route without leaving everything else wide open... in my opinion our defensive cover scheme is a little out dated. we run a Split Defense with a cover 3...and against the spread, it wont work. i think the coaches will go to a cover 2...but no hope in changing the overall scheme...not until our D coor. retires.

our next opponent is Jersey village.

I agree.... now as for IKE.... they run the same type offense that aldine did... and in my opinion... on offense..they are mirror images.... I dont know what changes they will make in order to work the NS defense.... QB works from the gun..... he runs well he is not afraid to throw the ball either.... defensively... they are pretty good on the d-line..but they are smaller than i expected..... they are quick and they have good speed..especially in the secondary..... sometimes thier tackling can be suspect..... as for NS... in my opinion.. they are small on the lines... however... with a QB that can throw and a good stable of backs... i dont think they will have too many problems moving the ball...they need to have a good start to this game.... offensively and defensively.... these two teams are talented...whomever executes better will win this game... NS is playing at home so that should give them an edge....

Good analysis. Ike will have studied Aldines' game film and make their adjustments as will Aymonds crew. If Ike were to get the lead Aldine did
NS will have a harder time coming back. I don't look for that to happen this game. It appeared Shore was not in rythem the first half but came back both barrells blazing the second half. It was a nice change to see our offense answer the call. Shore , I hope, will be expecting this one to be tougher than last week. I'll be bringing my umbrella also. May have rain tonight.

Im my opinion IKE is a better team then Aldine Defensively...and just about equal, but a little quicker on offense. NS will have to do what Humble did...Score Quickly...

NS Game plan (IMO): OFFENSIVE: Come out firing agaisnt IKE, make them come back instead of you trying to play catch up. They have tremendous speed at the WR position that could leave you wondering what just happened on a blown coverages. NS needs to be able to run the ball well, Throwing against IKE is something i would only do until you have establish your run game. IKE's Secondary is very good...and has yet to see much action...due to the fact that Humble chose not to Throw. Craig Loston (FS) is a Track stud that can run down a WR and pick off just about anything..is a junior and already committed to A&M.

Defensively: NS better clean up that tackling, and fix that coverage...because Guiton isn't afraid to sling the ball around...and his WR arent shy about taking it to the big house...The IKE WR Core is fast...and may...just maybe be faster then the NS Defensive backs.... Also, if NS can stop their run (which i suspect that they should be able to)...then IKE is put in a position of desperate measures...and plays into NS hands.

North shore should come out of this ok... Athletically...i give the edge(and really..barely) to IKE (always...over just about anyone with the exception of WF..then its about even) But North Shore has Superior coaching, and program

GO STANGS!

Well, they put it all together tonight. The first team looked really sharp. The passing game is a tremendous plus. And it looks as if there is a back with some size to run between the tackles. Good job Mustangs. I was somewhat disappointed in Ike. I really believed they were gonna give us a game.

The North Shore team that took the field tonight looked like the kind of Mustang team we Mustang fans are accustomed to seeing. The passing games was working as was the running game. And the defense looked ten times better than they did last week. Other than a few plays here and there I thought they handled the IKE offense pretty well.

thats why i wasnt worried about this team... they picked up where they left off in the second half of the aldine game....the passing game is on.. the running game is on.. and the defense is getting better..... stable of backs is extremely good.. speed and power... and size with #21 tracy woods..... good game all around for the stangs.. IKE is talented.... but i think the saw an in sync NS squad at home....

i kept saying all summer.. this kid can throw... and we have recievers about 3 of them he can go to that can really catch the ball well..... so they looked good and couple that with the running game and teams have to stay honest....

NS is very good... As good as i expected them to be in this game. Some great coaching, and alot of solid Div 1 prospects.

Offense: Im impressed with their passing game.. Their Running game is a direct result of that O-line...the O-line was very impressive.

Defense: They left their starters good into the 4th quarter...Which tells me one thing...coach Aymond ain't stupid. Ike passing game (if they had some blocking) would be in the area's top 10...which is really odd. NS defense is a solid unit...it isnt the 03,05, or 06... But they are going to stop people from putting points on the board...and the scary thing is...they are going to get alot better.

I would go ahead and put NS in the top 3 in the Houston area...and Top 15 in the State.

Their Good.
