so let me get this straight.... lake rips laporte.... Laporte loses to la marque by 2? pearland loses to la marque by three... pearland beats lake, lake loses to clear creek, creek loses to deer park... NS beats deer park......... is Deer park better than people are giving them credit?

and yes i agree.. the pasadena memorial game will be a good one... and it comes at a good time on the district scehdule.... not too far from playoff time so it should help both teams get ready for the playoffs.... maybe we can have good district playoff run....
Yes, it's going to be an interesting finish with So. Houston and Pas. Memorial to end district. Both of those squads are looking pretty stout right now.

He's a beast and a good kid. It's good to see him running the defense. They came out the gate firing on all cylinders.

You should be able to listen to the game on TSRN I would think. As for Daniel Salinas he'd had a pretty good season thus far. The only hole I see in his game might be that he gets over agressive some times. Meaning if he wouldn't just shoot in full steam ahead he probably gets in the backfield and causes more havoc than he has. I've seen quite a few plays where he's fired off so quickly that he ends up coming short of taking down the back. Other than that I think he fits in quite nicely with the middle linebackers we've had in the past.

Pretty much had their way with La Porte. 28-0 @ half. I left at halftime because of weather. No turnovers and 180+ yds both passing and running. The offense is looking nicely diverse, can run or throw from any formation. At least 4 rbs that run the ball effectively with different styles. The defense recorded its first shutout of the season, and seems to be improving week to week.
I can't believe you men leaving over a few raindrops......geez, this woman stuck out the rain. I fell asleep and didn't wake up until 7:00 but still drug myself out of bed and drove to the stadium from LaPorte to support my boys. I was a little late but not too bad. I even sat on the LP side (with my daughter) and had to sit there and keep my mouth closed with my Mustang cusion turned upside down. That was a horrible game. Poor LP. I really feel sorry for their guys. The NS side was not very crowded. It's funny to see "us" from the other side. I have my umbrella, my towel, and my cushion in the back of my car. If it looks like rain then I take all three in. Get your gametime gear ready and be prepared! Hehe.

what we havent seen is NS play a full offensive game... the only full offensive game we have played was against aldine because we were in a hole... so it was pedal to the floor from the opening whistle....... but against everyone else.. including the woodlands... we shut it down offensively and go conservative when we are up by a "comfortable" amount of points...... i hope the conditioning and timing aspects continue to improve....

Well I thought he got the ball several times at the last but he didn't do much. The last quarter was the pits. I sat right up on the LP players and they just looked to frazzled and down. The fans didn't help things. There was a couple of ladies behind me that I was ready to take out. I just hate when fans yell horrible things at the kids. Sometimes people forget these are kids. LP lost alot when they lost Coach Mills.

Good point. That's why I had to leave at the half, I had my kids with me. I've been watching games through downpours with no umbrellas for almost.....well for awhile anyways.:p But they're not really into football like I am just yet. Besides, LP didn't seem very interested in competing.

Congrats on your cousin! I got to see her up close as she came up and talked with someone...cute girl. Her dress was beautiful.
Yes, the game was boring. I left a little before halftime and took my dad home and then came back. Didn't it seem like the quarters lasted forever. My heart really went out for Rayburn. They hardly had a roster.
I like staying the whole game so I can see the other kids play. I feel sorry for seniors who get no game time. I also like to see the future...what and who comes back next year.
As far as SOHO and Mem. I think we can beat SOHO, but I'm a little concerned about Memorial. If the guys can come out fired up and watch those penalties we will do okay....we are still getting too many penalties (IMO). We had 2 or 3 personal fouls last night....we can't do that.

I saw him in the stands last night as well. The team seems to function fine w/o him but I would really like to see him return. It would be a shame for all that talent to go to waste. He's been playing on varsity since he was a sophomore and I'd hate for him not to be able to play his sr. yr. and not get a scholarship.

I over heard a conversation between Tolbert and a fan. He was saying something about his back and that when he told coach he couldn't perform the way he wanted him to. I guess there was a little disagreement and he was kicked out of practice. However Tolbert was trying to get on the field for the game last week. He even asked Jeremiah to ask the coach, so the kid still wants to play. Idk why he was in the stands this week though.

That's horrible. Lord, the kid is a senior. Let him back in the game. We need him. We may have won the last two without him, but that won't be the case in the SOHO/Mem game. He and Jeremiah are a team. Tolbert has good grades I'm sure so I doubt that has anything to do with it.

I'm sorry but I just am not totally sold on Memorial being as good as people are saying they are. I mean as I look at their schedule none of their wins really jump out at me. I mean they've beaten no one with a winning record. And the win against SOHO only proves what most people thought anyway that they weren't nearly as good as their record showed and the first time they ran into a decent team they fell apart. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the Mavs aren't good I just don't think they are as good as people think. And looking at the stats they look to live and die by the run which is something that our defense doesn't give up much of. The only way they hang with is is if we play like we did last year against them. If we come in and handle business the Mustang way they don't stand much of a chance.
As for Tolbert now I don't know anymore than anyone else, but the fact that he is in the stands and not on the sidelines leads me to believe he is either on some kind of suspension or he's be thrown off the team all together. If that is the case then you know he must have really done something because Coach Aymond doesn't get rid of someone of his caliber over nothing. And while you never want to go without someone like him I have to say to me he really hasn't been missed all that much. The guys that have stepped into his spot have done quite well I think.

I think I've been worried because the guys weren't the same team I was used to seeing a few weeks ago. I was worried about their attitude, but last night they looked alot different. I know they will have to be fired up and can't make alot of mistakes. This is a team we beat 83 to 0 a few years back and I know they'd love to beat us. They will come ready!

I love meeting people. Some of the people on this board have alot of fun together and actually go to each others games. I think that's neat. My dad is doing very poor so I think his going to football games are limited now. It breaks my heart, because we've always been football buddies since I was a little girl. He's my main man, my best friend, and never missed a Friday night standing outside the fence at the 45 yard line when I was a Scarlet. He would stand with the biggest smile on his face, yell my name and was the proudest father of them all. NS football has alot of memories for us. I guess that's why I love it so much.
GP is doing great this year. They did well against Forest Brook last night. At first it was like 7-6. That head coach is supposed to be really good. I miss working in the district. Goose Creek definitely has no Friday football spirit!

Convince your hair stylist to come with you to the came and do your hair right there in the stands. Just make sure to sit down really low or sit up really high away from everyone so they aren't attacked by the clippings. I don't expect very many to be at this game due in large part to the time. I would say the same of the Thurday night game against Memorial, but then since that one will most likely decide who win the district. I figure it may have a playoff type atmosphere around it.

Well if you see us again come and introduce yourself. I don't think Dad is going to make many more games. It really has bothered me this weekend. I am so glad that he got to go with me a couple of years ago. I was district teacher of the year in 2003 and they honored us in the pressbox. I took him as my date and he had a blast. It is awesome up there. We had a seafood fry with all the board and Dr. Henry.

Well you know Aymond and Warken don't have the best reputation in the whole wide world. I personally am not sold on either one of them. I get angry everytime I think about how they fail to support the other entities of the Athletic program. Namely the basketball team...how those kids are treated is pathetic. I will not get off on that however. Back to Tolbert/Warken and Aymond...I think we forget sometimes these are KIDS. Some of the stuff they do is stupid...but we have ALL been there. Hopefully we learn from those mistakes and grow up.
I don't know what happened with Tolbert...really don't wanna know. I do know he is an extremely talented football player. I can only hope he has his academics together and is able to go on an pursue a college education. That is with or without the possibility of football.
Hell I wish all these kids the best. It's not easy doing what they do week in and week out for FREE! Sure some will say they will hope to get a college scholarship. But it almost isn't worth it to me. All the scrutiny, criticism and pressure. My hats off to ALL of them and their parents.
Ok...I am done with my soapbox now. Let me stop before I say something out of line. :D

from my understanding... thats why Nichols left... he was a very good coach.. but i think he got tired of putting up with what you are talking about.... i think he also had to deal with "football recruiting" where many kids who excelled at football were told not to play basketball.... so i think nichols just got fed up with all of that stuff.......
your starting QB is the starting PG so it's not that bad....
NS hoops hasn't had that special "group" come through like every other high school has over the years..I can't recall no big-time post player around 6-9 come in and terrorize the area....there has been some decent guards but nothing else to write home about...
with 3,000 kids you would think the school would make a deep run

You are right last year the had the twins "Alex & Anthony Barnes" they were small but quicker than ANY guard out there last year. They were very hard to contain and quick to penetrate to the basket. But last years team suffered from lack of height and passionate coaching.

That's exactly why he left. Now he is at a district that overwhelmingly supports every facet of the Athletics program. Now before someone says I am hating on the football team let me say this. I LOVE NORTH SHORE FOOTBALL , I think they are one of the best teams the state has to offer. I am just a firm believer that the district namely the AD should show equal support (financial & otherwise) to all the kids that play athletics whether it be football, track, volleyball, softball, cross country, tennis, golf or underwater basket weaving. LOL, whatever they choose to play.

The district website shows scholarships given out over the years and I was surprised to see some of the other sports besides football. Could it be NS does not have any scholarship players in other sports right now?

I wasn't even really talking about the number of scholarships that are received in other sports. I am talking about general support, funding disparities, etc.
that area of town isn't known as a hoops factory......despite all the kids there with 5th ward ties (Wheatley hoops) football remains the king......I can't really think of a North Shore team that has been an area power...I rememeber the Ricky Fernandez teams of the 90s but that's about it...

Football is king in GPISD. Always has been, always will be. NS, in their weak years of football did have a pretty good baseball program going for a time and also had a good basketball program when Weisinger was there. They made a state appearance in BB but it's dwindled since then. And, let's face it (much to the dislike of feminists and bleeding hearts) as with colleges, football will bring in much more revenue than other sports. Not to take away from them, particularly because it is high school, but that's where it lies.

The show down is a couple weeks away but I thought I'd throw out some early thoughts. I watched the game film of last years NS /Pas Memorial game and came away with different thoughts. My initial perspective was a very tough and determined PM team at GPISD. I was right - at least for the 1st half. What bothered me was the 3-3 tie at the half. The second half was different. NS came out and took control winning 20-3. PM never got in the end zone. There were a couple breaks NS got by recovering two fumbles when PM was about to score (which I don't look to happen this year) but, PM could with success: Throw in the flats and across the middle, ran QB keepers all night and ran the ball to the outside. I think this years' NS team is a better overall team than last years but I won't take anything away from PM. They will come out convinced they can win and NS will have their hands full but I think NS takes this in the second half. NS has operated all year against the better teams with a dominant second half effort that seems to be their style. We'll see Nov 1st.

but you have to remember... the wheels had already started to fall off for NS middle of the season when thier offense was non existent.... i harped on it all last year... thier offense was horrible... so the PAM game was a game against a pretty decent team and it showed... NS defensively did fine... but the offense couldnt ever get it together..this year is different.. i think this defense is above average... but this year we have the offense that can put points on the board all game long.... i cant wait for this game... i want NS to be tested again before the playoffs.... so hopefully its a competitive game....

Good points and true. We were good on the D but weak on the O. This years' team is better all around and can score from anywhere on the field. This PM game will be the biggest test of the regular season. They came thru in the Woodz and showed me a lot there so I'm looking for the same results against PM. What has impressed me most about this entire thread is that for the most part everything has been kept on a very friendly basis. Granted we've had a few of our take exception to somethings that have been said and we've had a few outsiders come in and try and start mess, but we've managed to squash it quickly and get things back on track. I am honestly as surprised as everyone else that we have made it last this long. It would really be cool if we could keep it going through out the rest of the season and into next season. Of course that would be an awful lot of pages which would take up an awful lot of the bandwith which in turn might upset the KT's or the other folks.
As for tomorrow's game we all know its not going to be a pretty sight. But as with every game we got to keep the intensity up and keep focused on the prize that is to come.

It would be a slaughter. I went to last night's game and this is what I have come to determine. GP really only has one player that would hang with NS and that's GP's quarterback. He's fast, but after being knocked down hard on every play he wouldn't last long.
NS - 52
GP - 07
Crosby on the other hand would be done at the get go.
NS - 80ish

*edit* to clarify, I meant that I wish Pearland would beat the teams they are supposed to beat the same way North Shore does. However our schedule is definitely tougher. Every year we have at least 1 or 2 other teams that win a few games in the playoffs. North Shores district is one of the worst in the entire state if you take away the Mustangs.

i wish these teams we play in our district were just inferior....but they are a lot worse than that.... i think we need to be in the same district with pearland again...

You fail at reading comprehension.
I don't see any tough opponents in your schedule, except a 4a LaMarque team that's having a down year.

Not including North Shore-
La Marque, Clear Lake, and Brazoswood can beat any team in your district.G-ball would beat all but Pasadena Memorial. Our schedule isn't the toughest in the world but it is far tougher than North Shores. Ask anyone on this board not from NS and they will agree with me. I'm not degrading the NS team at all. All I'm trying to say is that y'all beat the crap out of terrible teams every week so it's almost impossible to see any weaknesses you might have. At least with our schedule we play a huge variety of dangerous schemes that can give us trouble. North Shore plays against JV competition.

Not so fast.... La Marque had trouble beating La Porte whom NS and PA memorial have absolutely blown out of the water.... Deer Park handled Clear creek easier than Pearland did.... NS handled DP with relative ease... IMO DP and Memorial would beat any of those teams you mentioned ....and dont even mention G-Ball..... they arent that good.... so yeah.. our schedule might not be all that.... but we will have played the likes of Woodlands, IKE, Deer Park, Pasadena Memorial.....so jv competition.. yes. you can say that about a few games a la pasadena, dobie , rayburn....but its not that bad of a schedule....

Playing Pasadena Memorial towards the end of the season will be a good game to get NorthShore ready for the playoffs. That win against Ike keeps looking better and better. If Ike still had Calson coaching them they would be a tougher team. But they finally seem to be putting it together.

Hey Playa,
Who was the coach at IKE in the 90's when they looked like a college team? That's the coach I am thinking of.
I saw them play Kingwood in 92 or 93 or 94 and they looked awesome and their kicker made a 52 yard field goal. I think that was my first time seeing them and they were big and fast. Now there's a program that should have gotten a ring in the 90's. Aldine, NorthShore, Nimitz, Ike,and Mac used to be in the same district. That was a killer district.

If you have the time go through this entire thread and you'll find that I say more positive things about NS than any other Pearland poster. I'm just trying to play devils advocate since y'all just destroy the teams in your district every year. But seriously U guys are gonna need to get better offensively. The NS D may not be as great as the past few yrs. but their still good and imo the offense is better! With the exception of the first gam no one had scored more than 20 pts on us and I say that's pretty good! Yeah we've heard the saying "Defense wins championships!"As a matter of fact we heard it last yr. I said it 100 times and I'll say it again. The PLand 07 team reminds me a lot of the NS 06 team: GREAT defense and inconsistent offense. If your offense can't put up the points then u HAVE to count on the D to keep the opposing team from scoring.

Hey check out these highlight stats from the game. Sure Pasadena isn't a beating to be overly proud about but none the less they're still nice stats!
*North Shore had 7 different players score and QB Jeremiah McGinty passed for 129 yards and 2 TDs in the district victory.
*North Shore's defense led by Chase McEntee, Ian Rose, Jonathan Dernmus limited Pasadena to -7 yards rushing in the first half and only 3 first downs. In this contest the Mustang forced four turnovers.

The difference between this Pearland team and say, the 05 team that y'all destroyed is that we have the overall team speed to keep up with y'all. There won't be many, if any, big plays. NS will have to work for every point. Our offense isn't as good as I think it should be but we do have the playmakers to score at any given time. We have also shown the ability to score in bunches. The Clear Lake and Brazoswood games are good examples. If/when we meet up I see it as a pretty similar game to last years, low scoring and the winner will be whoever makes the big play.
BTW I hope the game can be played at Rice Stadium. I think that stadium has the best atmosphere for a big HS game. The sound travels really well.

and the difference this NS team and last year is that last year we had no offense.... none... this year we have an offense that can put up points...on anyone...... pearland has the same defense as they did last year.... a year wiser so i will give credit for that... however.. this is nothing like the offense they faced last year in a 21-14 win......NS last year gave up 21 points to an offense that was a lot better than your offense this year....NS defense is not that far off last years... in fact i think they are really close...... but should be a good game.. and i agree.. rice is the place to be..

Well this years defensive line is not the same as last years. IMO that is the main reason for our improvement on that side of the ball. It's gonna be almost impossible for any team to beat us running the ball. We held Yobes Walker to 95 yards. He has been putting up 300 on other teams. He's 2nd in the area. I saw the NS back against DP and I think we will stop him rather easily. Our secondary is also probably the best in the region. NS will do damage if the QB scrambles out of the pocket to buy time and allow his receivers to break off of their routes.
We played the highest scoring rushing team in the area (Clear Lake) and held them to 14. We played one of the highest scoring passing teams (Clear Creek) and held them to 14. This is going to be the most athletic defense North Shore faces.
I wanna see what North Shore does against Pasadena Memorial to really form an opinion on them.
5 weeks away and the first shots are starting to be fired :D

Yeah the only plus to it was that I got to see 2 games both weeks we played there. Rice was just an awesome experience with us and Cy-Fair. The bottom level was full and the top was filling up in the 2nd half. Probably 25k+ in that game.

Statistically this years defense will give up about 1/3 of the points last years did when it's all said and done. That's a huge improvement. The reason we held NS and Cy Fair to such low scoring last year was because of playmakers in the secondary. This year we've got the same playmakers but a beastly front 7 to go along with them. I saw North Shores offense against DP. It is a definite improvement over last years team in the passing game. Most of the points y'all are scoring are because of a huge speed advantage and not from play calling. I think I saw 3 different pass plays called against DP. They simply couldn't cover them. This years NS team is fast but it doesn't appear as fast as the 03-05 teams were.
The 2006 Pearland team was one of our better teams but not our best. That would be the 2001 team IMO. It was one of the faster however.
If I had to rank the teams since 01 it would go like this.
2001-semis
2006-semis
2002-3rd round
2004-30-35 loss to NS
2005-10 wins, got beat badly by NS
2003-10 wins, Roberson not as effective as 02
Of those teams I would say the 04 and 06 teams were the fastest. This years team would be somewhere in between those two as far as speed goes.

It's just me being devils advocate. Without posters like me it would be a North Shore love fest all regular season and then people would wonder what happened in the playoffs if you were to lose in the 2nd round. If this wasn't such a public discussion I wouldn't bring it up but I feel like people not familiar with the area should know why North Shore has so many blow out wins.
It's the same reason why fans in 26-5A have to say that their district is the hardest in the state in every single thread. They have to justify why each team has a loss yet is still justified in having a top 15 ranking.

Do you ever think "Pearlanders" are envious of NS? I've always thought that maybe Pearland was a little jealous of NS. I know Pearland wanted to beat NS because they have been beaten so many times by NS. Don't go getting mad at me...I'm just curious. Of the football program? Yes, y'all have a state title and we don't. I think the jealousy definitely ends there.
Why is it my responsibility to let everyone know about the North Shore blowouts? Who else is going to say something? Katy stays out of y'alls business and Westfield has no fan base here. Pearland is the only elite team in this area with a big enough fan base on this board to voice an opinion on NS that will be heard.
Look at it this way. You see a team down in the valley go 10-0 3 years in a row and never make it out of the 2nd round. You're gonna start to assume that they are beating up on weak competition and that the record is a little skewed. Of course North Shore has the recent title which gains them respect that is deserved but since then you know people in SA and the Dallas are are wondering why this team keeps going 10-0 every regular season and getting bounced in the 2nd round. I'm just trying to give some insight into the situation for them.
Y'all put yourselves in a situation where every single poster from around the state goes to one spot to get their information on the program. I'm talking about the title of this thread... If I made an official Pearland Oiler thread I would expect people from other schools to voice their opinion on my team. That's just how it works...

IMO the NS fans do a great job about being honest about the teams status. Last yr. we TOLD the entire board that our offense was suspect and they didn't prove us wrong. Some ppl must've assumed we were being modest but unfortunately we weren't. I rarely see an NS poster making excuses for our losses. A few posters don't agree with the high rankings the site gives. We tell the board exactly how the team looks and try not to sugar coat anything. We know the district is weak and apparently many other ppl do too b/c we hear it all the time especially after we lose.
believe me...Ike's base has dwindled....they may have a few guys in the starting 22 ready to roll but their depth is suspect as they can't plug guys in like you can at North Shore and not miss a beat..
some high schools can fall off the map after a dominant state run fueled by several great players...look at Madison High...

You're right North Shore fans tend to be the most honest out there. It's hard to be called a liar when you know you're gonna go 10-0 every year but at least y'all don't gloat and claim to be top 5 contenders every single year. I myself try to be as honest as possible and point out the flaws of Pearlands team but when you aren't given the respect of a state champion like North Shore is you have to be a little more aggressive in your fandom. If Pearland is to ever get a ring I think you'll see a far humbler fanbase. If I had to bet I would say our new HS wins a state title before we do though.

You would think that NS was losing to scrubs. It's no shame in going 10-0 for however many years and losing to VY-Madison,Westfield and Pearland(for that one year). All those teams advanced the week after beating NS and all had the opportunity to either win or play in the title game (by playing competitive close games in their losses.) Yes, the district is weak but there is no doubt that we could do the same thing in 18-5a minus Katy ( used Katy as an example do to their district dominance). When NS hits the field they expect to win, however they do have down years("06" offense was horrible) also and some years("04") we just lose to better teams. This years team has one weakness that I have seen and that's DB's, some people may say no but I say yes. Pearland your good but give thinks to Proctor and our inability to pass the ball in "06". This years QB is the best I've seen in a while at NS, it will take a good defense and an average offense (Pearland) more than 21 points to beat this team believe me.

You think this QB is better than that 04 QB? I think his name was Cain? I can't judge because I only saw Mcginty against DP. NS wide receivers were WIDE open that entire game but he did hit them...

IMO yes McGinty in better that T. Cain. U can lok @ our offensive yards and see that. This is the first time in a while where I've seen NS's pass yards nearly equal to their rush yards. Not to mention seeing their pass yards exceed 1000 before POs.

Just for the record I think Pland Longhron was saying what I've said about the good teams. You are supposed to beat the weak teams by 40 points or more. If you can't do that you you don't have a power team. He was saying (if I read right) that he wished Pland would beat the weaker opponents like NS does and he is right on that account. Also,There is also no question about McGinty over Cain. If you've followed NS, you would see this year the difference in the execution of the plays. Yes, there are receivers open he does not hit but he is hitting someone else that's also open. Tell me what QB hits every open receiver every time? Not even the NFL can brag on that stat. McGinty is the real deal and the best QB at NS since BR. You will see these guys come back in the second half and take over the game no matter what the first half was.

Mcginty is a better QB than cain ...simply because he runs better..and i think hes a lil more accurate than cain was.... mcginty has had good success because he is accurate but also because he as a good recieving corps... cain didnt have the reciever depth that mcginty has..... and mcginty can be a threat with his running...... hes not the fastest...but you have to respect him when he puts his head down and runs....

I was looking at KT's schedule board trying to compare common opponents and it's weird. So far NS and PM have only Laporte and Rayburn to compare stats with. PM shows a tie the first game of the season. I want to say that game was called due to weather but I could be wrong. Dobie becomes a scrimmage for NS. That PM game will be packed. Good thing the stadium is large. I'm lookin' for Big Mac to deliver several quarter pounders.

Ok I am gonna try and respond to all of these posts I have read in one breath...
North Shore's schedule IMO isn't very soft. It's comparable to Katy and any other top 10 team across the state. ALL DISTRICTS have weak opponents that get rolled on. So that being said NS can't be blamed for weaker Pasadena ISD opponents. They all have good and bad years. Look at the Pasadena ISD teams this year that have stepped up and are making a statement (SH, Pas Mem). There is something to be said about that.
Hands down McGinty is the BEST QB @ NS since BR. That debate should not ever include Cain ok, ok. Wrong caliber....(lol):D

One thing I like about NS is they have good fans on here. If we lose we don't coward out and not come back on. We very seldom dish out alot and don't have to worry about coming back and eating crow. After our loss to PL last year we were right back on here and didn't avoid the boards. We accept our losses and don't blame the coaches or make excuses. We did aggrevate a little bit about Pearlands out of bounds touchdown, but that's the way the game goes sometimes. We all take up for one another as well and will stand up for each other when someone on here is rude to the other. You won't find anyone on here bragging that we are 60something and 0 and you aren't going to find that coming out of the players mouths either. Coach doesn't let them focus on that. We are just as proud of our one state championship as other teams are with their "how many ever" yada yada yada. We just like to have fun. All the men on here talk the talk with all the football talk and I'm just kind of the mom on here who wants to take the boys chocolate chips cookies and make sure the young guys on here are keeping up their grades. That's the teacher I guess. Anyway, it's fun and a break from a long, hard day at work.

Here is some trivia for new fans. Since the year 1980 only four teams from Houston have won 5A championships.... Yates once, Aldine once, Katy three times, and NorthShore once. It ain't easy, even for the good teams.
Also Katy's ex QB is starting for TCU. Dalton is his name. I believe they have a few D1 type players on their team this year. Last years Pearland running back got a scholarship to Texas and their QB also went to a D1 school and they did not win state. It ain't easy. Be glad we got one and hope for another.

One small thing that I thought was great was his introduction of his team at the '03 post state win pep-rally/celebration at the stadium. He introduced every player he had by name and number to the audience without notes, it was all memory. To me that spoke of his involvement with them personally. Unfortunately I won't be. This upcoming game with Pm is going to tell the tale as everyone says. Looking at KT's scoring leader board, PM is right under NS in one of those catagories. Shore is ahead in the other two. But as I said before, who has PM played worthy of note to get those stats? Is NS's schedule a bit tougher with IKE, Aldine and TWHS? What do you guys think?

I'll be there and as far as my thoughts go you know your going to wipe the floor with the Longhors, so I say use this game to try some new things out if for no other reason than to give Pasadena Memorial more to worry about. I say open up that bag of tricks I know they have and use some plays that may be haven't been used much if at all this season. I'd like to see some passes to the back out of the backfield as well as some passes thrown to the tight end. Hell it would be nice to see them mix up their formations from series to series. I just feel that you've got to show Pasadena Memroial something that haven't seen from you before because other wise they're going to be looking for what they saw from us last year as well as what they've seen from film of us this year.
I'd like to see the trick bag opened up also but save it for PM so they will not be expecting them. If we do it with Dobie Pm will get ready for them.

I will be there. Was at the fish game yesterday, and Dobie has a running back that is a handful. Took at least 6 guys to bring him down every run, including kick returns. Look for him next year.

I want them to save the bag of tricks too, but then I get scared if they don't practice them they will be sloppy next week. They can't afford any screwups next week.
I didn't get to go tonight because I had to work late. I was up late last night with LaPorte kids painting camo shirts and decorating for the LP/DP game tonight. They were having so much fun with the radio up. I didn't have the heart to break it up because it's my last year with kids at home. I'm not doing too well with this. I am not going to do this empty nest mess very well.

Final score was 38-0 for the good guys. Not a lot that can be taken from a game like this. I know some are going to say you only scored 38 on them yet Pasadena Memorial scored 44 on them. And of course had we scored that or more then there would be the ever present you ran the score up on them. To that I say Thursday night we find out just who contender and who is the pretender. As I said in an earlier post I believe in this thread I'm just not sure if they are as good as their record shows.

Well I hope you are right...hope they aren't as good as everyone says. I will keep the faith in my Mustangs though. I just hope they go ready to play and don't make a bunch of mistakes. I did think the score was going to be worse tonight.

It was basically the McGinty show for 3 qrtrs. Started out with 3 td passes and followed with 2 rushing. He looked really sharp early on.

So the Pasadena Memorial game is next Saturday? I can't miss this one. I wont be surprised if quite a few Pearlanders show up. I think North Shore wins. Something close though, 28-21.

I usually do when I go to a NS game. The only times I don't is when I feel like messing with fans on the other side. I remember at the Clear Creek vs. NS playoff game back in 2002 I basically got kicked out for cheering too loudly for NS. I'm a fan of the Mustangs as long as they're not playing us.

Yeah, I had to be quiet at the LP/NS game a few weeks ago. I went with my daughter and sat on the LP side but had to be quiet. I did have my NS cushion though.

The game is on Thursday night not Saturday night. So of you show up on Saturday night you will have missed it.
