So whatever happens to the pictures the NS photographers take at the game? You hardly see any posted on the GPISD website. Just a thought, are they developing them and keeping them in an underground safe?

So I hope everyone had a awesome Thanksgiving and didn't eat too much food. We are going to need every red shirt we can get tomorrow after noon cheering this team on as Rocky gets set to take down Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang or Ivan Drago which ever foe you prefer. This the perfect game to shut all the naysayers and those who wanted to believe that Da Sho was no more up. As long as we try anything fancy or out of our comfort zone I think we will be just fine. Yes we have one hell of a mountain to climb but its not one that can't be climbed.

I just got home and am trying to get over one disappointment...even though it's been a long year for the Horns, we really could have pulled that game out last night...thought we might...really did want it for those seniors!

I hope the Stangs can do it tomorrow!

I'd prefer Mike Tyson (The Hangover movie version) because he rolls with a Katy Tiger by his side. Well, not after we steal it tomorrow. :p

Congrats to the 2010 North Shore Mustangs. They had a great season. Nothing to hang you head about, some very good football was played. If you gave everything you had to give, then there is nothing to be sad about. Good luck, and see you in my reserve seats next season.

The World Beaters have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of about today. I think back some months to the talk of this being the year we would lose multiple games in district and non district. What did our boys come out and do they came out and only got beat by one team the entire season. They won a district title when they were supposed to have lost two games and finished third in the district. There were even some that said Da Sho was over and done with. We sure proved those folks just how over and done Da Sho was did we not.

I liken todays game to the first UFC fight between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonner. For those that aren't MMA fans in that fight you had two guys that were pretty evenly matched which I firmly believe we and Katy were. Those two went at it for three rounds both delivering some serious pain to one another. But they just kept slugging away and where both standing when the final bell rung. Forrest would go on to win by decision but both fighters gained one anothers respect and that of everyone watching. Today we saw two heavyweights step in the cage and slug it out for three rounds. Unfortunately when the finall bell rung it wasn't us getting our hand raised rather it was our rival yes I now believe we truely have a rival after so many years of not having a true one.

I definitely do not think this the last time we will long horns with the Tigers. I'm really hoping this is something that continues for years to come. And I really hope we keep the same schedule we had or if not at least keep it filled with teams that are going to seriously challenge us. Playing pansies may get you notice on the highlight reels or youtube, but state titles are the only thing people remember years later. Until next year we have a lot of work to do but I know its going to be a great off season and when August comes back around the underclassman are going to be ready to step up and fill the shoes of those before them and continue to run like Mustangs run.

Thanks for the video and for the helmets this year...you did a great job as usual.

I have to get busy on the Christmas planning and shopping, so no more football for me...My poor family has been through it this year (supporting me) with the horrid Longhorn season and the disappointing loss yesterday....no PL/Katy game for me next week, but good luck to both teams!

Next year we will be having a NS Nation pre-season meal at my house...ya'll decide the meal and I'll cook it...we'll review the roster, make our predictions, and decide our new "slogan" for the year:). It will be a week before the season begins!

It's been a fun season and I had lots of fun meeting some of you! I think our boys really proved what we've always believed about them yesterday...that's why I'm PROUD!

Oh...I have a new Schnauzer puppie coming today for a Christmas gift...I'm naming him Reggie:)

As of right now I'm down to wear my red in support of Katy Nation. As for a slogan for next year I shared this one with proud last night "World Beater's Strike Back". Yes I'm ripping off Star Wars there but hey I was born in the around that time and was a major Star Wars nut growing up.

As far as a pre-season festival in The House of Proud that sounds like fun to me. And as for a meal you've eaten with us a couple of times now so you know we are very fond of chicken fried steaks and pancakes.

Other teams stay away from these games, NS/Katy love them. We will see ya next year. Great crowd from both sides last Sat. NS/Katy, the best two teams from the Houston area!!!

The 2003 North Shore Mustangs are champions in every sense of the word. The players, coaches and community put old playoff struggles to bed for good with their 23-7 win over The Woodlands at Rice Stadium in front of an estimated crowd of about 35,000 people. Elite high school programs in Texas are measured by championships, and the Mustangs have got themselves one. North Shore became the fourth Houston area team to win a state championship since the addition of Class 5A in 1980. The others are 1985 Yates, 1990 Aldine, 1997 Katy and 2000 Katy.

Here is how North Shore's road to the 2003 Division I State Title played out:

Galena Park North Shore Mustangs (15-0)

North Shore 44 Alief Hastings 6
North Shore 62 Houston Madison 7
North Shore 35 Alief Elsik 6
North Shore 33 Deer Park 6
North Shore 49 La Porte 3
North Shore 62 Pasadena Rayburn 7
North Shore 48 South Houston 0
North Shore 35 Pearland 7
North Shore 77 Pasadena 0
North Shore 56 Pasadena Dobie 7
North Shore 52 Clear Lake 0
North Shore 35 Humble 7
North Shore 42 Houston Lamar 19
North Shore 49 Austin Westlake 7
North Shore 23 The Woodlands 7

The Mustangs completed perhaps one of the most dominant seasons in the history of Texas High School Football outscoring their opponents 46-7 on average through 15 games. They are certainly the most dominant 5A champion Houston has produced if you go by numbers. North Shore's defensive performance on the field was nothing short of amazing for the entire season. The Mustangs only allow 131 total yards in the state championship game, and a total yard average of right at 140 yards for all 15 games. Lamar was the only team to break the 7-point barrier. North Shore's defense got significant contributions from many players and senior leaders Terald Clark (DT), Bug Aymond (DB), Chris Bocard (DE), Charles Robinson (LB) and Stephen James (DB) had especially great years. As a unit, the Mustangs' defense was simply ferocious and a real treat to watch.

On offense, the Mustangs were paced by a punishing running game and opportunistic passing game. The catalyst was quarterback Bobby Reid, but he had plenty of helping hands around him to get the job done each week. Reid is quick to give his offensive line credit. Justin McNeese emerged with an awesome season coming off of an injury the year before that kept him off the field. The 225-pound bruiser used his rare combination of size and speed to bulldoze defenders. McNeese rumbled his way for 196 yards against The Woodlands earning the Division I Texas Bowl Most Valuable Player award. Receivers Tyrone Samuels, Tyrell Williams and Ramon Smothers all averaged better than 15 yards per catch. And just like the defense, the Mustangs were by no means limited to a select group of players offensively playing well as a unit.

Coming into this season, North Shore had a great track record from the previous few seasons but just hadn't got over that playoff bump yet. They had a lot of unfinished business. The furthest Shore had advanced prior to this year was the state semi-finals in 1996. However, the Mustangs put all of that history to rest in impressive fashion this year holding the 5A Texas Football.com #1 ranking all year long, including the pre-season. They are the only team to do that in the history of 5A Texas Football.com's state rankings.

Perhaps the only team more dominant than this North Shore team in recent history were the 1983 Daingerfield Tigers who outscored their opponents 631-8 through 15 games. They recorded shut outs in every game but two. Finally, this 2003 North Shore team was a very special group and should go down as one of the best, most dominant teams in Class 5A history if overall team performance and statistics mean anything.

I know everyone that wins state thinks their team was the best ever and in fact many of them just may be. I know we get a lot of flack from some because our strenght of schedule that year wasn't very strong. But still for any team to do what we did the way we did is something to be appreciated. As I've said before they could have very easliy put up bigger numbers than they did but that's not Coach Aymond's way of doing things. I think you would be hard pressed to find a more complete team than that team was. I mean they had playmakers at practically every position on the field.

SOS is meaningless when you guys handled everyone the way you did. I know at the PLand game it very, very easily could have been 2 or 3 more TD'S. When you run the table like that, it is not hard to mention NS '03 as one of maybe 3 to 4 teams (from 1970 forward) to be THE BEST. I sure can't find an argument AGAINST calling them one of the BEST EVER.

well after seeing the freshman qb run the offense on the freshman team... he did well........on second thought.... I think our WHOLE freshman team looked good... i havent seen a group that good since 00' class and before that the 93' class....

I wouldnt think it would be a stretch to have a soph starting QB..and RB next year.....

If the sophmore is better than the guys in front of him are then you'd be a fool not to let him start. The 93' and 00' classes sure did turn out some talent did they not.

NS vs PLand this year would have been close. NS has the defensive edge and PLand has the offensive edge. This would have been a good game to watch.

What a great game it would be. I was skeptical about Pland and the Woodlands when playoffs started as I thought both teams were untested. Pland was not even state ranked. My theory is that if you are good, you are good no matter who you play, easy or tough. I have thought all season that NS would take Pland because of our defense and history with them. We will never know. Pland gained credibility with me with their last two wins and I hope they can bring the title back to Houston. However, I think Stony Point wins it all this year.

Our team page doesn't work...will probably wait a little to start a new one...if y'all want, we can discuss upcoming season and players, etc. as time goes by.

LP will be strong again on D and will be good on Oline. Decent QB (Vidales) will return, but not sure about replacement for Webb.

Reaching you is easy all we have to do is drive down Fairmount with our window down and bark like a dawg.

LP's biggest thing has always been their numbers. They always have some talent they just never seem to have enough dawgs to finish a fight with the bigger dawgs they run across.

Big smile :D...and that's why we're never going to be in the State title hunt. But, teams still have to get by us. For the program number size, LP can give a lot of larger schools fits.

I'd love to see the pistol with some long outs & double hitches mixed in for honesty. Add an occassional veer off the pistol--or wing T.

Mix that with our new defensive scheme of this year...
Could be trouble.

NS just needs a couple more years on new offense. Defense is ALWAYS strong. Speed is ALWAYS there. Numbers are ALWAYS there.

I'm actually expecting a repeat of NS 2003 in 2012. Wish I could say sooner, but don't know returners.

With an improved passing attack and better execution on ball handling and fakes, NS will win state in next 3 years. Yall have to much size, speed and talent to not win with your defense and the new OC from STP. 7 on 7 will be important as to how good yall get in this offense. STP don't pass much, but when they do, they get first downs and TDs and chunks of yards, ask Desoto.

I guess it would help if we had some professional sports teams that were better than we are to cheer for but I think even Channelview could give the Texans a run for their money. I haven't cared for the Rockets since Hakeem retired and until the Astro's get an owner that really wants to win I could care less what they do.

Hey Stangers! Got a question.

Do you think the Katy/North Shore match up does either team any good? It's obviously an area favorite to see the two teams play each other but does the match up help the two teams prepare to get better for the rest of the season?

I personally like the match up but was thinking it would do Katy better to face a good Spread team like Pearland or maybe Klein Oak.

How did playing Katy this past season help the Mustangs?

I don't know if it helps Katy but it for sure helps North Shore. Week 0 of this year NS would of probably beat any other team & thought their play was fine but that beat down Katy put on us made us realize that type of play isn't going to work against a top tier program. Katy definitely drove NS to step their game up. As you can see the 2nd game was a much better result.

I think you almost have to scratch this years game from the books based on us having been new to the spread offense. I am certain that you'll see a vastly improved spread next year from us now that the underclassman have had a full year in the offense. As far as who the match up helps more I think when you are talking about two such programs as we have playing one another definitely helps you. As my brother said you don't really see your weakness when you're playing against inferior talent. Its when you play the big boys that you really see what you need to work on.

You're young qb is a talent! Defense will be typical NS and good. Sandbagging is for those without the cajones to speak their mind and make a decision. I'll say right now, NS 2011 will be a very good year. 2012, if the world is still turning, hehehe, will be awesome.

LP's defense will be better in 2011 than 2010. I'm already looking forward to a battle. I expect both to go far. I'm hesitant about LP offense as usual, but I'm looking forward to seeing the 6'-3", 215 RB Hoza Scott (Kendrick Perkins clone) if he hasn't grown too big & is strictly defense.

We don't sandbag on this side of the channel. If NS loses, they lose because they deserved to. I'm anxious to see La Porte in the next few seasons, I'm glad they brought y'all into our district. Now all they need to do is get Dobie outta district 21-5A, the Deer would throw a parade. :p

LOL...
DP only throws a parade when they beat us. Y'all might be a close second with a town festival. Massey--as directed--treats DP vs LP as OU vs UT. DP's 50-50 against us with a program size X2. When he loses in 2011, it will be over for Massey.

By the way, some of us on this side don't sandbag either. 2011 should be a very good year for LP. Good returning players, good underclassmen, defense wil be tough. I expect an early loss or two as usual because emphasis is placed on playoffs more than early season. I don't expect many teams to score over 14 unless game is already over for all intents & purposes. Question will be if LP can score 14!

Leroy Fields

I really hope this comes to fruition as it is talked about. Seems every year there is a great team on the way up but something gets in the way and they don't produce as advertized. O7 was the one year we all thought ok to mediocre but they showed up and went to the semis. While I love NS football above all sports, I try not to get too hopeful. Thanks for the update. Most definitely...that was fun. I know a couple Mustangs that we owe dinner.

My vote is we take over Los Cucos. Good Mexican and close to Rhodes.

Very talented young men.

Appreciate it, no doubts about their talent that's for sure. My guesses were correct on #2 and #22. I really look forward to seeing #22 out there this Fall. Is #2 expected to be a contributor on varsity from the start of the season?

Yeah Deleon will be on Varsity, not really sure where he will play though. He had some playing time in the second half of the Baytown Sterling game. He played RB and WR, I can see him as a return man. Definetly one of the fastest kids in the entire school at the moment. I saw him play in a middle school game the year before and thought to myself, "He'll be a key player in the near future.". #22 will be starting as a LB.

Nice to see as a Mustang fan! Can't tell though if NS is really that good or if PM was a very bad team. From what I see, even if PM was bad, NS was showing what they were capable of with lots of talent. I llike seeing receivers that can catch the ball. This video has wetted my appetite and now I have to wait 4 months.....:o

The PM kids weren't that great, but still have time to develop. The freshmen dominated most of their opponents all season except for PAM and LP, may be forgetting one. I went to about 4 games of theirs (Klein Oak, Westbrook, Sterling and Pas Memorial) Just saw clips of the PAM and LP games, ought to be a pretty cool matchup in 2014.

Same here! I'm a huge fan outside of Week 0 (:)). I can't wait to see what these kids bring to the table. We've already been teased a little bit.

Was just looking at the draft and saw that Chykie Brown was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the 5th round. I sure would be nice to see him turn into a good NFL player.

Brown certainly has the ability. He is with a team that emphasizes hard hits and and a brick wall defense. Another Mustang in the pros!

I know its only practice but I saw some pretty encouraging stuff there from the offensive side of the ball. Its clear to see which ever kid is named the starter next year has a much better grasp of the offense than was had last year. But that is to be expected since he has a year of experience that we didn't have last year.

They had 5 QBs. Three of them will be on varsity. Hakeem was the 3rd String in practice. I'm thinking he'll be starting on JV. We got some great backs.

Y'all will be fine. Good talent coming up. Discipline will be key. Discipline will win over pure individual talent 90% of the time.

As a discussion point, La Porte is bringing back the defense with a new OC to boot. Have no idea what to expect from the offense.

Congrats on track!

Is having three on varsity a good idea? I mean unless they are going to go with a three man rotation. That means you are going to have one kid sitting out a year which has we have seen in the past doesn't usually lead to good results. Hopefully between now and the start of the season one of them steps up and shows himself to be the leader of the pack.

Dawg I expect you guys to be field the same kind of team you guys always do. It may not be an offensive or defensive juggernaut like we tend to field, but its definitely going to be a squad that makes the most of what it has. The key for you guys especially when it comes to playing a team like us is to play mistake free and not take the field feeling like you've already lost. Of course that doesn't often seem to be the case most of the times we've played.

I honestly have no idea about any names on varsity. I do know McQueen played in the Kingwood game and rushed for 90+ yards. Haven't seen him since then.

McQueen is the one I was talking about last year that quit football to play basketball. And then he ended up quitting basketball and as soon as Aymond found out he asked him if he wanted to play football again.

It will be as it will be...about 5-10 more athletes and you guys might need to begin to worry. We always have a decent game. In the past 15 years or so, NS is guaranteed a victory due to attrition as much as anything. (I will say the game worries NS fans enough to attend.)

In my years (late 70's early 80's) you guys were the whipping post. Times change. Demographics change. We're now the whipping post.

I firmly expect NS to field a Q4 team this year at the least, with a final on the books for 2012 & 13. We'd never compete. We're barely 5A. You're definitively D1.

North Shore will be just fine this year... yes we will be slow out of the gate offensively... but thats ok.... we lost a lot on offense.. however... we have capable players that just need to get some game reps in .... the QBs will have a lot to do with how well the offense progresses....NS may be using the two QB every play system a la Stony Point...... the offense will not throw the ball any more than we have in the past...so don't get your hopes up...we will throw the ball when we NEED to instead of as a weapon on offense that is a real threat.....defense will be good... same as in the past.. fast... hard hitting...with some young guns filling in spots vacated by seniors such as derrick mathews.... I think by playoff time...we will be very good... especially if the offense progresses the way it should and everyone stays healthy...again..if the QBs can make it happen... then we will be a tough out in the playoffs... from what i have seen from micah thomas.. as compared to last years QB Gibson.. hes about 2 inches shorter at about 6"0...about 15 lbs lighter... just as fast... better decision making....gibson had a stronger arm...but thomas is not too far behind in arm strength.....

all in all.. i think we may be a little high in the 5A texas HS football rankings right now.... but I think we will certainly end up as a top 10 team...and could be even better than that.... this team has a lot of work to do....but nothing is out of reach... we have the talent to get there... we just have new players that will make names for themselves....

Now you know using that word is going to cost you 100,000,000,000 demerits young lady.

I would geuss that if the district site doesn't have it up yet then either its hasn't been made official yet or they just haven't been given the ok to release it yet. We know the first game of the season is definitely in Katy. If things stay as they were last year then we have a trip to Klein to look forward to as well as one to Beaumont. Don't think anyone but me has been to the new Beaumont stadium but its pretty nice compared to what Durley was.
