Reuben Droughns was traded by the Browns to the Giants for WR Tim Carter.
Droughns is expected to compete for the starting job with Brandon Jacobs.

Part of me is glad the Giants finally did something this offseason. The other part of me wishes it was something better than getting Reuben Droughns.

A better comparison would have been Julius Jones and Marion Barber since they are atleast NFL RBs. But yes, Jamal Charles and Selvin Young work great together at Texas.

droughns did alright in cleveland running behind an awful line. since the giants do have an o-line, he should do better. glad they got rid of carter, a dissapointment at receiver.

what the hell is wrong with Brandon jacobs. does he not seem like he would be an awesome power back? Does he not know the playbook, or what. Every game I've watched him in he plays hard. why do the Gigantes not believe in him?

They probably want to use him as a game changer. Bring him in in the 4th quarter and on goal line situations to throw the defenses out of wack. They also may want him to have a long career with them, and if he was an every down back then his running style would put a lot of wear and tear on his body.

he doesn't have the makings of an every down back (he's 264 pounds!)....yet. but he should get more carries this season with droughns coming in. give him another year or two, he's only 24, and he could be the giant's starter. i'm happy with him just coming into goal-line situations and plowing 300 pound linemen aside.
