I heard that

SLC had their first scrimmage of the 2005 spring season, wednesday at dragon stadium! I heard that a few stars shined as expected but a few bousems were a big BUST....har har har... But in all seriousness, Clint Refro and Mckay Jacobson were not able to scrimmage due to the regional track meet in Lubbok this weekend...DE Michael Boydston had a good day with a couple tipped balls on the new QB Greg McElroy and lots of pressure....QB McElroy showed a little arm but did not have his best stuff... Maybe still tired from a good showing at the Nike Camp in TCU after winning , none the less, the "Best Kid" award and "Hardest Worker".... Defence looked a little stronger but it is still early! As seen in the past a lot of speed generated by both sides of the ball. New RB contender Newton supposedly showeed a little speed and made the best of his situation. But overall, really strong scrimmage, defence got the best of the offence at times but thats how it goes....

Defense always shows up before the offense!

Things looked a little rusty on both sides of the ball. There was alot of
size and speed on the field though. First scrimmage is always somewhat
subjectional but overall I think SL will put together another contender.
It will come down to execution, team work, heart and a little good
luck. Newton, by the way, definitley came out with the intentions of
winning a job.

a little rusty? for a week and a half of pads id say they sure are doing a damn good job. Keep in mind they still have a few more weeks of this, off season work outs and camps, two a days and then scrimage against Sam Houston again before they make the track to waco to play Midland Lee. If anything they are ahead of schedule. ive made it out to a practice and a scrimage and the WR have been running great routes and the defense has been swarming to the ball. you cant ask for anything better.

Oh I know. When I say a little rusty I'm not implying anything other than
I'm spoiled and want to see finger tip catches in the end zone. No seriously,
they did seem a little rusty but that is to be expected. I have no doubt
they will put things together very quickly. All in all I think it was a good
scrimmage.

We are. Just an oversight on YouKnowTha3t's part. Were you at the scrimmage? Your synopsis if you were from one drgnbkr to another.

Anything is possible CC57. I'll have to put my money on the "Green Ppl"
though. I really don't know much about the Cowboys strenghts this year
but I do know there aren't any standout weaknesses with SLC. Rusty
just means.....well....it means....uh....rusty for SLC but better than
most. :D

No doubt. It has been an unforgettable ride. Trash talk is fine as long
if it's not too mean spirited....if that's possible. Thick skin is a must
on this board. :D

Out of all ppl to talk trash, its someone from the team that got walked on the most last season. 10 possesions, 10 touchdowns, not bad.

attended the first 3 possessions last night. mcelroy can flat throw a football. he needs a little better blocking, but the defense had some different blitz packages and were able to put some pressure on him. even missing 2 starting rec's, they made some great catches. riley looked good too. great speed and except for a few forced passes, threw okay too. he needs some bulk, but he can be another c wasson with more speed if he gets about 15-20 more lbs. the defense is very good but very thin in spots. i could see some of the recs going into the secondary. lb is well represented, but paper thin. injuries would not be easily dealt with. i liked what i saw generally.
