This is from today's Dallas Morning News.

Reggie on the radar? No way of knowing how serious it is yet, but Reggie Miller could be a candidate for the Mavericks' vacant roster spot.

Owner Mark Cuban brought up Miller's name before Monday's game against the Hawks. The former Indiana Pacers star is the No. 1 3-point shooter in NBA history. He retired after the 2004-05 season, but remains in excellent physical shape.

And joining the Mavericks would give him the chance to do about the only thing he never did in his illustrious career – win a championship.

Avery Johnson said he and president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson have been discussing options for the open spot, but are not close to any decisions.

Miller currently is a member of TNT's broadcast team

Is this just talk or what?

I think it was more of a joke than anything.

If Reggie grew another foot during his retirement, then we might start talking about his addition to the Mavs. Until then, I hope he stays at TNT with Chucky.

Reggie is the kind of guy championship teams look for who can hit a few clutch shots that might be the difference between winning and losing. Basically, Dallas is going to scour the list of players who get released on the 27th or 28th and pick somebody to fill that last spot. Dallas said they didn't want Pippen, but I bet he's on hold until the 1st and everybody knows who will be available.

The rule is players have to be released by their team before March 1st to be eligible to sign with another team and play in the playoffs. We'll know who wants who in the next few days.

Somebody needs to lure Steve Kerr away from the booth. Seriously, did that guy ever miss a clutch basket. I would sign him if he were 65 and missing a leg.
