Mark Martin in his first race in the 01 Army car after his stint with Viagra barely missed his first Daytona victory. Facing Stiff competetion as well as stiff winds, Martin rose to the challenge as he thrust to the front of the field. The final lap was balls to the walls as several drivers crashed. He drove hard but in the end couldn't keep it up.
He actually had these two post race quotes.
"We did our best, we just came up a couple of inches short."
"I had it in my fingers and let it slip away."

Sometimes guys like Martin are too nice..If that had been Earnhart (#3) he would have found a way to squeeze Harvick into the wall and won...but thats why Martin is well liked, he raced clean and fair and so did Harvick. Martin just did'nt have enough stroke...:p

I was really happy for Martin and cheering him on. But younger, Kevin Harvick came built up fast and exploded through the finish.

Yeah, he really powered around the outside....I'm a Gordon fan and he seemed to have handling problems all day..I know you don't like him..he's probably the most polarizing figure in Nascar, with Tony Stewart a close second..

Honestly, allot of the cars seemed to be handling very strangly. No, I am not a Gordon fan but I respect those who are. I am not as bad now that I see NASCAR recognizing other drivers besides him and Jr. more now.

The only thing better than that is listening to Darrell Waltrip's race call.
