Fair at Tomball- Fair squeaks by after a big win last week
Springs at JV- No way JV loses 4, JV
Creek at Ridge- tough call here. 3 point game either way..... Creek
LC at Falls- HUGE game for both. I have no idea. I can't see Falls losing 2 in a row, but LC is playing good. My head says LC. LC
Collins at Mag- Mag is playing better, but Collins is mad- Collins

Good picks there. All of those are really good, even matchups. For me, LC and Fair are two of the surprises of the early season. I wasn't sure how Fair would rebound after losing Conteh and who knew LC would turn things around so dramatically. It's shaping up to be a wild year in 17-5A.

Fair wins big - they are going to beat everyone.
Creek over Ridge
I'm sticking with my Eagles - there's no way the offense can play worse than last week so they will work on it this week (please guys!!) and the defense is going to stop Jenkins - even though they didn't do so well stopping Fair's passing game - they will get it back this week.
Collins at Magnolia - toss up.

FallsMom,
The defense did not play bad, Fair has a pretty good offense, even without Conteh. They seem to reload with quality backs. I am not sure where the Goldsmith kid came from but he is a player. I was impressed with the Fair O-line against the Falls defensive front 7, I thought the Falls front group would rule the league, I was mistaken. I am probably mistaken about LC as well. Although I thought Falls would do better against the Fair d-fense. I hope they rebound against LC. Just call them the way I see them. What's up with JV???? Good luck to the LC QB, but not a whole lot of luck.....LOL

For the life of me I can't figure out JV. Creek maybe up and coming but 1 yard rushing???.... with that o-line. Go figure. I still like JV and Falls, maybe LC and Fair??? What a fun district (except for the moms and dads) .... they (175A) may not win the whole deal but it is a very entertaining district!!

I may have worded that wrong - I wasn't taking anything away from Fair - they played a great game and seem to be a very solid team. You are correct, the defense held them pretty well as they have everyone this year, even Westfield. I just hope there is a little more stability on the offensive side. The offensive line is playing a good game at least - I can't understand why we weren't passing longer on Saturday - those little short ones were getting nowhere except on the ground. I ran into someone from LC who had been scouting us (he was scouting defense) and asked him what he thought. He said he was pretty impressed with them, even with the loss. I think it will be a very good game - I don't think LC has run into a real good defense yet but I could be wrong.

It seems like parity is the rule in this district. There will probably be another tiebreaker for the playoffs. Sorry, but I don't have a clue who will be involved. Langham Creek has been the big surprise to me so far.

I agree. Not sure about the passing, although maybe with the rain, slick turf, etc. the short passes were preferred. Oh well it is over and this week will be a big test for both LC and Falls.

I don't know - I think two losses in a row speaks volumes to the Eagles - I truly believe they will focus better and come through on Saturday night with a victory. It may be close though so I don't know if I agree with the line there. Langham is a little better than a lot of people think - a dark horse if there ever was one!! Jenkins is scary right now.

I am new to the board but have watched cy fair isd football for years. Man the district sure has gone down hill from back in the day. Use to be 12,000 packed in pridgeon for any friday game with it being a war. Now ugly football with not much offense besdies Langham this year. Here are my picks for the week:

Fair over Tomball. Fair had a big win last week but should pull this one out. Tomball only has passed for 4 total yards this year. Unbelivable.

Springs over JV. JV is not that good and has been overrated for years. No major talent since selvin young and micah sweats left.

Ridge over Creek. Never been impressed with the new cy creek. Theibaud is a damn good coach and should win this one going away.

Langham over Falls. I think langham wins this easy. Falls has been overrated the whole year and it should continue on saturday. Jenkins seems to be the real deal. Last good quartback since Joseph Smith had at langham.

These are just one guys thoughts.

Welcome to the board Eagle Fan (I assume that Cy Falls Eagle fan??). I too remember when our Spring Branch games over at Tully were 15,000 easy and there was standing room only. I think the fact that we have SO many schools in Cy Fair ISD is the main reason. I also don't think a lot of kids grew up on football like a lot of us did - I didn't miss an SB game for 7 years in a row and haven't missed a Falls game in 4. I blame video games - all I ever had was NFL Strategy and electric football where you hoped your team would shake all the way down to the opponents end zone. My kids would call that archaic and antique!!

Oops, missread it, Falls +13 over LC. Still too much either way I think

Creek +1
Fair +13 (too much)
JV +9 (not enough)
Mag/Collins PK'm (again Collins is mad, look out)

I grew up on Tully games as well. Talk about a packed place. However, sb has fallen off the way side except for Memorial. The last time I saw Tully packed was for Cy Creek vs. Yates 1993 where Cy creek won and then ended up losing to Elsik the next week in a fluke fumble with 2 minutes to go. Pridgeon was packed for any Cy Creek - Cy Farm game and also for the Cy Falls - Langham games in 1996 and 1997. Otherwise it takes a lot for any to even sit in the upperdeck these days. Does your kid play for the falls?

Does your kid play for the falls?

No - just a fan. My son was in the band (now in college band) and one of my daughter's plays on the softball team so in the spring, it's baseball/softball for me. So, I am an official Cy Falls Mom - just not an official football mom. :( I have been a big supporter of the Golden Eagles though since my son's freshman year back in 2001 because I just love the game of football!! When I was a teen, most girls were digging Donny Osmond - I was hanging pics up of Fran Tarkenton and Zonk - strange but true.

i am still bummed about the loss last week to fair. they came out with heart, intensity and a game plan and dominated the game. i expected so much more after seeing the eagles performance against westfield. anyway, guess i will try to pick myself back up and get back into it.

lc over falls by 11.
jv over springs by 6.
fair over tomball by 15. (tb only has 4 yds passing becasue they run option)
cr over cc by 12.

falls has the talent this year, but they need to get the heart back they showed against westfield.

I couldn't agree more! Maybe they should focus on the game more and not so much on how they enter the stadium (i.e. walking in like they are intimidating the other team - I'm pretty sure they aren't). These guys have a lot of talent and it is not being used to the full potential. LC could very possibly pop up and beat them Saturday - that would put them at 1-3 and, in my opinion, probably too down and out to fix it at that point. I think they have been reading too much of their own press - everyone picked them to win district - some even said they would run away with the crown. They need to ignore that crap and ignore what is now being said as well and just play each game one week at a time. Polls and team reviews mean NOTHING until you are holding that piece of hardware or at least going to the playoffs. I hope to see them in the playoffs again whether it's as district champ or 3rd place but they need to get it going soon.

I think that Langham wins this game easy. Cy Falls was given way to much credit this year. Preseason #4 in the area. Even receiving votes in the state poll. Last year the Big School playoffs in houston were nothing to be proud of. Eisenhower and Kempner would not even make it to the playoffs if they were in some districts. (i.e. 14-5a, 19-5a, 22-5a) however they did and Cy Falls did win. However, Cy Fair and Fort Bend now have their own district excpet for Tomball and Magnolia. Just like HISD has become, three schools make the playoffs from the district and three schools normally lose in the 1st round. When Cy Fair was in Region 2, name the last team that went more than 2 rounds?

Both teams have have been early surprises for all..........

Any predictions on Saturdays match up?

CyFalls 28 vs Langhum Creek 14

Falls defensive line puts too much pressure on Jenkins, while their offense finally shows up. Falls out athletes Creek in a good one.

The cream always rises to the top............

Let me say that if Jenkins had a defense to go along with his production, I would have to go the other way.

also, are the eagles going to throw the ball DOWN the field to the fast wide-outs this week?

That was the most aggravating thing of all last week...the first play on offense and it looked like slip out of David's hand or something - guess that was an omen of things to come. They have to play on all types of fields - even wet ones. I think that was the reason for the short passes (albeit incomplete short passes for the most part). Cy Fair was sure getting them down there.

09-15-2005, 05:48 PM
For Cy Falls to throw it down field that would take the right play to actually be called. That could be a stretch. Their offense has not been that great the last few years. Their defense has kept them in a lot of games. I still think Langham wins by two td's. I think the ridge wins easy as well. Cyfalls mom, what is your predection?

CyFallsMom

For Cy Falls to throw it down field that would take the right play to actually be called.

Now that you bring it up - what is with all the confusion on the play calling. Everyone's looking at their plays (on their wrists) up to the very last second. Tillman was still looking at his play when the center hitched the ball and it like bounced off of him...what was up with THAT?? I know I'm not a coach and never will be but I don't get that...it seems the offense should be way more prepared than that. I was expecting so much out of them this year...I still believe defense wins games but the offense has to help out at some point.

I will go on record that I think the Eagles will win by 3

oldathlete

There were definate miscomunications going on when the ball was snaped and half our line was looking around for the play and so was JP. Think the snap count was missed by the center.

Falls offense has several modes they can operate the spread out of....

Sometimes they wait to see how the defense lines up against our formation before we call a play and I know it seems like we do not know what we are doing, but the delayed play calling is by design.

We also have a hurry up mode in which we do not run too much.

CyFair was a wake up call and our coaches and players will be ready this week.

a lot of teams are going to the hurry up offense with arm bands. Then the defenses starts it. I think JV started the whole scheme. No worries this just a trend. Football is football. It will come and go.

nice job by jv. haven't seen the stats, but when we left at half & it was
28-0, obviously it wasn't close. springs has work to do. dominate/spy lewis,
& game over.
collins will handle magnolia, especially if goodson is back.
fair's "D" is too good for tomball.
ridge & creek will be a good one. whoever has the ball in the end wins.
lc & falls is the "game of the week". falls took all of the sub-varsity games tonite, but i think that's where it stops. lc, although not playing a whole lot of quailty comp just yet, seems to be on a roll. even though the defense can't seem to stop anybody, they do just enuf, and the offense seems to take care of the rest. look for lc to pull this one out by 7.

Okay this post is going too far down the list!! I'm going to bring it back up a bit....how did everyone do tonight? I was trying to listen on TSRN and it never seems to work right so I went to Barnes and Noble instead...then to Half Price to buy the same books for - well, half price!! Just biding time until tomorrow's game!! I found some V.C Andrews books and a book called Texas Football Trilogy - a Season in the Lone Star State - it appears to cover high school, college and pro football and it appears to be a bunch of different stories - I haven't started reading it yet so I'm not sure. I did read Friday Night Lights and the book was MUCH better than the movie by the way.

AAAAHHHHH - what are you guys doing to my blood pressure!!! First half - Eagles looked great on both sides of the ball. Second half, still looking good at first and we go up 34-7. Then Langham Creek is allowed to score 21 unanswered points off of stupid fumbles and blocked punts - that is unnerving to say the least. All turned out good for the Eagles thank goodness but it was nervewracking. I have a migraine because of this game!! 21 of those LC points are not the fault of the Cy Falls defense - they played yet another good game and they held Jenkins for the most part - he had some passing yards but he paid a couple of times. I will say that I saw some shining moments with Tillman - instead of trying to run every play like last week, he had a good passing game going - loved the 50+ yard pass play. OH, and for any of you Cy Falls players that may be reading these boards, thank you for not doing the "walk" into the stadium - it was so good to see you all looking fired up and ready to go. Just never ever rest on even a 34-7 lead - you got a taste of what could happen tonight and it was bringing back very unsavory memories of the Buffalo Bills "comeback" game on the Oilers in my book.

cudos to falls for the win. glad to see lc not give up though.
lots of "ifs" & buts"; but i thought they were going to pull it out.
especially when they hit their leading reciever right in the hands on th falls
40 with one guy to beat, but the pass fell incomplete. can't blame all
on any one kid though. what killed lc was the 6 turnovers. 2 fumbles,
2 picks, a muffed punt & muffed kick return. jenkins did end up
26-36-2 ; 284 yds. with 2 TD's. however, falls had a great defensive
scheme to make it difficult.

I told you Ross Jenkins would get his stats and he did. The chronicle had him as number 1 passing performance for the weekend. Falls defense put more pressure on him than he has had all year. I think he would be a perfect QB for Texas Tech. Hope his dad sends a film of tonight along with is stats for the year to them. What a great pocket passer and "gutsy" performance by this young man. He also showed his toughness with some of the hits that were delivered by Falls.

Great game by falls that looked like it was put away early and LC kept comming back. Falls made a big step forward in their season, but still has much to improve on.

JP Tillmanconnected on some bombs as I thought he would. Falls offense came alive as JP steped up along with some of our receivers. He got tripped up by the referee and hurt his left shoulder in the fourth. Congrats to David Brekke for comming in and preserving a win. True senior leadership by him.

The game had great intensity and some of the hardest hitting I have seen in a while. There were some great plays made tonight by both teams.

Finnaly, I would like to congradulate the Falls coaches for a great game plan against LC
