Look for Ben Habern out of Argyle Liberty to commit to OU soon too. He is one of the 5 best Centers in the entire country and some publications have him listed as the top center. I know that he is listed as one of the 5 best juniors in the entire metroplex by a couple of recruiting services too. Ben comes from a great family and I am pretty good friends with 2 of his brothers who also played at Liberty.

get over all that stupid Texas players leaving crap. just because they are born in Texas or went to HS in Texas doesnt mean they should automaticaly attend Texas or A&M or Tech. Look at some of the most popular players that have come out of Texas, Chris Simms, Major Applewhite, Ricky Williams all from other states than Texas. Who wasthat OL that just graduated, Sindelin (sp) from Colorado. Same for A&M and Tech yet people dont seem to ***** when that happens.

im not saying schools recruitng from texas is a bad thing im just saying ou would be nothing without them obviously..alot of schools wouldnt be good without texas talent but im not gonna go bash them, out of state recruiting gives athletes alot of more oppurtunities than they would have in-state.and its up to the athlete over what school he wants to go to either way. i like texas so i feel im entitled to atleats make fun of OU every now and then;)

compare the populations and number of football players each state have and you will see why. same with LSU and Arkansas. those states combined do not have a population that would equal Texas.

i know obvioulsy texas holds alot of talent due to its size same as california but imo it doesnt apply to all states, just look at florida there not that big but they end up having pretty good talent year in and year out

thats why i edited my post before you posted, jtk brung up the population of florida and all im saying is the size of a state has a little more to do rather than the population, if population was the case than places like new york, illinois, and penssylvania would be known for football regardless of where there at but i do admit to having a couple drinks earlier

Ohio is one of the bigger states in the Union and they produce some great football players. You look at the NYC and Chicago metro areas 2 of the 3 biggest in America and the basketball talent that comes from there and you will understand the emphasis that is put on basketball.

Most pop warner, middle and high school teams don't have domes to play in. Therefore, interest is limited from an early age where in Texas, Florida, California, etc. where the weather is good in the winter, kids play football all year round.

There's also the fact that well over half of New York state's population lies in the greater New York City area where space is a premium and football fields are few and far between. We take for granted here that every elementary, middle and high school has a football field and track out back. Most schools in NYC are lucky to have a 10 x 10 surface of grass to look at. Hence the reason basketball is so popular in New York.

dont worry i regreted that post as soon as i posted it, but my main point was no about whether new york is known for football or not but the fact that states large in size(not population) have alot of talent hence the mention of texas and california but obdioulsy a state like florida is football state regardless

hence NY as a state in land configuration is not even the largest state east of the Mississippi. not insulting your intellegence just telling you that NY is indeed the 24th largest state in area in this entire country with Georgia, Florida and Michigan all being larger in land area.

New York is also very much a pro sport state. They are passionate about their Jets, Bills, Giants, Knicks, Skankees, etc. College and high school sports are very small there, whereas in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania, high school and college sports are HUGE... even bigger that their pro counterparts in a lot of ways.

Those states combined are still close to 5 million people fewer than Texas and contrary to what you might think, Alabama and Tennessee are not tremendous talent producing states. They are very good mind you (as almost all Southern states are), but they don't even begin to compare to the quality and sheer numbers that Texas puts out.

Texas is also well over 100,000 square miles more than those states put together, so they're not equal in size, fyi.

Mississippi is the state you want to lump in there. I believe data has proven that Mississippi produces more Div. 1 recruits per capita than any other state.
