Who will win this game and why?

I tell you what, it will sure be good game to watch. I think Humble will be able to put up a better fight against The Woodlands then they did with Katy since we didn't have our free safety. But that still isn't an excuse because we were out played and out coached for that matter. I predict that Humble may be able to pull it out by a hair, but no doubt it will be a good game. Our Quarterback Jerrod Johnson played amazing against Katy being so elusive to them. If The Woodlands can find an answer for him on defense I think that they can roll over us.

Having seen both of them play Katy, I like Humble's offense and The Woodlands' defense. This should be a great game and could come to who is the healthiest. It's a tossup, but I'll take The Woodlands because "D" usually prevails.

"D" prevails as long as they have an "O" that can put up more numbers than the opponents "O". The Woodlanders are averaging 6 points per game = no offense. I have seen both teams play and I was impressed with the way Humble spreads the field to provide ample running lanes for Johnson & Co. Tunley will run through you, around you or over you.

I'm going with Humble at home........14-10

I am very interested in this one as well, but I can't decide if I want to see it or Westfield and Memorial. The problem I have with "the Woodland's defense is better" point is that Katy put up 30 on the Woodlands and 34 on Humble. Not a big difference there. Then you look at the offensive side and see that Katy gave up 6 to the Woods and 20 to Humble. The numbers tell me to lean toward Humble, but my logic tells me that Katy played lights out against the Woods. Not to mention that I was very impressed with what the Woods D did against Nshore. I'll have to think about this one, but as it stands right now I am going to go with the Woods in a tight one.

Katy may have played lights out in the second half, but the first half was anything but in my opinion. They didn't play that badly, but certainly didn't light it up.

The Woodlands-Humble should be a good game.

Who will win this game and why?

i think that the woodlands will win especially if a certain reciever is back in the lineup.the woodlands are a bunch of well coached kids who take direction very well. the playoffs should be interesting this year and maybe even a 2003 state title rematch between northshore and the woodlands. its a distinct possibilty. :)

dulles qb stats
or the mayde creek rb stats
are only as good as the competition
which was not north shore, the woodlands, humble,
westfield or katy...
pick 3 of those teams and then let's see the stat sheet...

I think that Humble will come out of this game with the win. They are a very fast and talented team that reminded me of the 2004 Clear Lake team. They also have that QB who was just flat out amazing.

Watch out Woodz for Humble's QB, JJ. He's 6'-6" 220lbs and can run. Tunley is a good running back too so you guys have some work to do. Humble's defense is athletic too. From seeing both teams play this month, Humble's offense is better than the Woodz and the Woodz D is better against the run. This will be one of the better games in Houston area if not the best.

Yeah Johnson is so elusive it's madness. To tell you the truth, im not making excuses or anything, but we have 4 of our top defensive players out and will have all of the out for The Woodlands game. However Katy did run over us in that game. I can't wait for this game against The Woodlands, seeing their D and our O is going to be Patriots and Colts all over again. It'll be great.

But ya'lls offense should keep ya in the game. Our linebackers were over committing in the wrong direction giving Tunley and Johnson HUGE holes to run through. It was making me grit my teeth but the game was more interesting because of it. I bet Humble has some depth on defense. I think you guys are going to the playoffs this year.
Look at the Woodz!! They play Katy, NS and Humble for their first 3 games!!! If that doesn't make the Highlanders battle tested by seasons end nothing else will. They have a tough schedule.

How come Humble isn't in the top 25. I know that we are really shakey in some areas but hey, we only lost to Katy by 14 points. Katy is number 2 or something like that. Maybe we are just waiting to see what happens at The Woodlands game today. Not complaining just wondering.

Some of Katy's best seasons started at a 7 or 8 or lower ranking and we've beat two top State and Nationally ranked teams at the State finals in which we were decided underdogs. It only depends on how the Humble team executes against their opponents(and the total # of W's). Don't worry too much about rankings. Just play or cheer or both. You guys should have a better season than last year.

I am ready to see this one. I haven't seen a game since Katy put a smackin on us so I am ready to see this game. That QB played 2 or 3 quarters last year when we played them when Pettiford was acting like a baby so I don't think we haven't seen anything new. Can any Shore fan or person that saw the game last week tell me if we have a different QB? Does anyone know if Drabek is playing?

North Shore gasping for air..., OL size - can they be too big?

North Shore vs. Woodlands

North Shore took the victory 7 - 6.

I think the surprising thing here was how the Woodlands defense meet the challenge. They faced an offensive line which averages OVER 300 lbs. Similar to last year's Woodlands OL, it is difficult to play at this level for the complete game against a fast & strong defensive front 7. North Shore was gasping for air. It reminded me of last year's playoff loss to Austin Round Rock McNeil as their speed was too much for our size.

With over 70+ seniors this year & last, the Woodlands are faced with a wave of new faces. It was last year's JV team which "shocked the shore" by handing them a very rare lose. It is this year's team (especially defense) which will guide the team into the playoffs. North Shore was kept in check.

Being 0-2 is understood. The difficult schedule will prove to be very beneficial. Injuries has hurt the 1st two weeks with key players - WR Kyle Drabek, DE Alan Weimar, & QB Austin Hutson. At one point in the North Shore game, DE Blake Hinton and DT Van Mark Romero both left the game due to injuries. Very scary to think that 3 of the starting defensive line would exit. There is so much talent on this team that they kept up the pace. They probably have the best safeties in the game in Skaufel & Carpenter, both juniors. With Kirby Smith as MLB, the field is covered.

The offense is not on all cylinders. One only has to look at the offensive stats to see. This has been one of the Woodlands great strength. Watch this to change as the QB Parsons gains experience.

Not sure if you know this or not, but pettiford had a cut in his hand so deep he needed stitches. They said the fact he came back was amazing. I would know, I was kinda one of the Athletic Trainers there. We even had to get the team doctor to come down and do it. It was crazy. No he wasn't being a baby.

No I didn't know that, I was referring to him being a baby because the other QB (kid who is the QB now) came into the game and was doing well and Pett. was acting like he didn't like the fact that his team was doing well against us with out him. Not much of a team player attitude in my book. I was sitting on the Humble side.

Drabek will not be back this week...still on the maybe list for next week. Austin will be starting QB with his arm feeling much better but still not 100%. Parsons is back-up but I do not agree with Conroe05 because he seems to be getting better under presure the more he plays. Also, the defensive end will be back for Humble. Practice this week had a lot of attention on receivers hanging on to the ball and DJ Smalls is looking real good and will give Burns some added assistance. He has made some great efforts to change from defense to offense (and not loose his temper). The Hinton brothers are both in and healthy. Looking forward to The Highlanders first win by at least 2 td's...

I should have asked if drabek was going to play before i made my picks on pickem!! I still think The Woodlands pull it out. If they can just put up some points!! It sounds like the highlanders have a very solid defense. In the game vs Katy i heard it was due to turnovers and the d being on the field basically the whole game due to an inept offense. Got worn down by the 4th quarter. Anybody that can hold ns to 7 points has a salty defense.

Pack0808 has got it right on the head.

The defense is as good as it's 2000 defense that held C.Benson for less than 100 yards.

(Benson had rushed for 100+ yards per game for 33 games in a row.)

My problem is starting Hudson. He has no arm. I'm sure he's hurt. Parsons is good. He has all the tools to be a D1 QB and he needs more reps to lead the offense.

The 6'6" TE will have two hands this week. He's been playing with a cast for a month.

The defense is the real deal. NS has had their way over the last couple years physically. I bet they were very suprised that "rich white boys honkies from the Woods" gave them some of their own medcine.

The Hinton boys on the D-line are bad a... Baby Hinton 265lbs has the squat school recond 550lbs.

The two Jr safeties are hitters too, one (20) is 6'1" 195 4.5 and strong. The other (8) is a ballhawk and a all district wrestler as a sophmore. Humble should remember him last years JV game he had two block punts for TD's in the first 6 minutes. (Humble JV had not lost a game in 5 years unit that game) Bad to the bone....

TWHS is ready to take this one. The offense will need to come together. The defense is there but will be challenged by Humble. Drabek is out but TWHS has plenty of talent in Bova and Groty at WR and they will get the job done. Parsons needs to settle down and find his WR's. Burns and DJ Smalls need to have great games. Should be a good game. Go Highlandrers!

Just got back from the JV game Humble won 36 to 25. But, the news is the kids from the Cresent City, #2 has increadble speed...He's a wide out senior from St Agustine HS 5'11 185, (10.5 in 100 second fastest in Louisana last year) Humble's #23 is varsity player in my mind fast and powerful. He ran for about 3 TDs.

The N.O. kids looked good. A sophmore Safety and QB.

Humble is good...The QB is legit. And they have a good RB.

But, I got to go back to this D. They got some Jungle Karma or something. They just get after it.... The Kitrina kids have it too...

Humble, Collins, KF, Klein, and the bad boys from the North. And I don't mean Huntsville. And even Cornro has some action kids.

WoodlandsHigh has joined the board !

After seeing my post from the "other board", I felt the need to join 5A Texas!

Each week, I will provide you my analysis of The Woodlands varsity.

Humble? Given the suspect loss 2 years ago (suspect refs), this game will be no different. Humble will need some help to squeak this one out.

Defense will win this game. You will see both teams move the ball. Yes, TWHS's offense will be back on track. QB Parson's is the man. His North Shore performance was not great, but the junior was not worried after the game. He is very mature. Father & defensive coordinator will guide him to the promise land. The passing game will open up the offense. With DJ Small's ability to catch out of the backfield, a 6'5 tightend w/two hands, 4.35 speed in Burns, and sure hands of Bova & Grote, watch for good things to happen.

The Woodlands have one of the best defensive front 7 in the state. The Hinton brothers are big & strong (Matt's squat record was 630lbs as a sophmore) DE Blake Hinton is offset by the speedy DE Alan Weimar (4.6 speed). MLB Kirby Smith reads very well & they have the two best safeties in Carpenter & Skaufal. The sleeper this year is CB Roobie Ray.

Lufkin ? Watch out. This will be another great game. We are looking forward to the match-up. This will be another defensive match-up.

Defense wins games, but your offensive must put points on the board.

Our First Running Back #21 is much better and faster and he's only a sophmore. #23 was origanlly going to be on varsity but denied it because he wouldn't start. He will definetly be there next year and be a playmaker. Our QB also is our back up. Our Sophmore QB is injured with a hurt elbow, should play soon.

Whay is Drabek not playing? Is he injured? Even though it would hurt our chances of winning I would love to see him play. I've heard just so many studly things about him. You guys say that he is really good, but from the sounds of things you all seem pretty confident in your offensive team. I hope it is as good as you say, that will make the game just that much better.

Poppy that is almost not even worth responding to. Funny people look up meaningless scrimmage game results so they can try to have some hope vs Lufkin. LMAO Truely pathetic!! You would not believe how much that happens. Outlaw makes no effort to win scrimmage games and they play everybody on the roster. Lufkin has not won a scrimmage game since 2000. Their record since 2001 in REAL games is now 52-7 with a state championship and 2 state semis so keep on holding onto those scrimmage games because they mean absolutely nada and it is actually embarrassing to bring it up on your part. Humble beat Lufkin last year in a scrimmage game and look where that got them. Lufkin was 14-1 and Humble was 5-5 sitting home watching the playoffs. LOL Egads on the scrimmage game!! LOL Lufkin would beat Humble like a ******** step child in a REAL game and everybody knows that. I cannot wait until the woodlands come to abe i really cannot. If yall keep losing it is going to take something away from that supposed big game though. Not really impressive if Lufkin hammers a 3-5 Highlander team. LOL By the way, you would have to back to the mid 1990's to find when Lufkin was shutout in a REAL game so i guess yall will make some major history when you come to Abe huh??

TWHS played great game against Shore. Both teams had their D's up and no offense on either side. Shore was handed a pounding by Westfield last year so they are no stranger to a butt whipping. Mean Green is still being stung by the title loss and last years shellacking by Shore. I heard nothing but good things about your qb in the title game and what a class guy he was. I hate to see a race remark entered into the equation as I don't think that applies on the high school level. Lots of white hs teams win titles in all sports. Shore does not have it this year but will still win their district. I don't know about TWHS although they looked better than last year. By the way, I commend the easy in and out for visitors to Moorehead stadium. Wait 'til you go to Turner in Humble. I guarantee a 2 hour wait as the Humble police will hold up the visitors side to allow the home fans out first even if you leave early.

Mean Green Machine

NSMustang,

No race card, just respect. NS has had one of the best programs in TX in the last 10 years. And NS has been physical and aggressive. The 03 team was in my opinion the best team in 10 or 20 years maybe ever.

But, let's face it TWHS has had a rep of being talented but...soft. This years team is different. Especially on D. It was just refreshing to have a D "get after it".

Now we just need to get the O going. More reps for Parsons and he'll improve every week. And the WR need to catch the ball!!!

Remember, he is a legit big time baseball player. He doesn't play spring ball(because of B-ball) so these reps he's getting with non-district quality teams are just going make him better.

The Purple People Eaters (Panthers) will be the big test for this young and talented Highlander team....This is the best 0-2 team in the state of Texas....

By-the-way, congrats on the victory over Humble. Sounds like the game was sloppy with turnovers. Someone reported that the Woodz had (3) two-point conversions? That's a touchdown!

Mean Green Machine

Yes,

The O had many chances to blow this game wide open.

Parsons showed improvement. Long term he's the man. The TE played well although he fumbled once.

Too many fumbles.(4 lost out 5) They need to practice holding on to the ball. Turnovers can kill you.

The QB play has to get better if they hope to beat the Purle People Eaters.

The D played well had a few arm tackles but was tough when they needed to be. This D is special and young.

(42) for the Wild Cats never got on track but you can tell he's a runner.
Humble had some WR open but didn't catch the ball.

Blake Hinton is having a monster season so far. He had a great nite. I think Humble QB Johnson is a player, he punts plays safety...Vince Young did that at Madison. Humble D was hard hitting espeacilly, LB (36) he's a beast.

The bottomline it's a W. Now build from last nite and pound Klein Collins Thursday.

What happen to Klein last nite losing to Oak? Klein Oak is an up and coming 4A team!

By-the-way, congrats on the victory over Humble. Sounds like the game was sloppy with turnovers. Someone reported that the Woodz had (3) two-point conversions? That's a touchdown!

Not (3) 2 pt conversions ---1 safety ---1 2 pt conversion & 1 blocked xtra pt run back for 2 pts

I'm pretty sure everyone is getting sick of hearing about the "split" ... I know I sure am. yes, twhs split into twhs and college park.. but it didn't affect anything half as much as people seem to think. if you really wanna know all the specific details of who got to go where, just ask, I'll be happy to tell. but in the end, it doesn't matter, because even if our school hadn't split, our varsity team would be relatively the same - we've got everyone we need.

now, we just need to work on getting them stronger. great game last night though guys, I love seeing improvement, and I can tell that this season is only gonna get better... keep it up!

The split didnt take much away from our team this year but in future years it will. College Park has no seniors this year so the woodlands still has all of them.

Not only did you guys have your chances but so did we. We had all our points in the first quarter. wut made me scratch my head was in the 4th or 3rd when it was 3rd and 16 in woodlands territory and we chose to do a double reverse. Why we made that desicion i don't know.

Woodlands has an awesome draw. I went to the J.V. game adn they ran it there and you can tell its something they work on throughout all their teams. It's effective and I can remember watching our d.c. call out watch the draw you guys ran it and we still couldnt stop it.

Point is you guys beat us, but I know that both teams could have played much better and really made this game look better.
