Im thinking Trinity by 21+, Tyler hasnt played that well, but it might have been playing up in ohio, I still want Ohio to come down here and try and play Euless Trinity or SLC....Dragon Stadium would be good site, I want to see how they do in our Texas heat and having to deal with Dragon Nation

What has Trinity won a state championship?? I know they have been close several times but have they won one?? I know they were close in 2001 and 2004?? I am just wondering why you are putting your team name in the same sentence with SLC?? Trinity is without a doubt one of the best teams in the state this year though. Just my opinion.

REL beat an average Waco team 21-7
Beat a travel weary Florida team
Lost to an over rated Ohio team.
Trinity should blow them out. Then Again the game is in Tyler so who knows.

Trinity has never won a state title, they made it to the 92 d1 championship game with a junior laden team and with a losing record. The follownig year they took a 13-0 record into a semifinal showdown against Plano, Plano's offensive line and running game were way to much for Trinity to handle and the Wildcants prevailed. In 98 Trinity finished 10-0, beat Lewisville in the 1st round of the playoffs 24-21, and went to Duncanville to play the panthers in the second round, Duncanville prevailed in that game and went on to win a state championship. Ed Hickmon had some great football teams and in his last few years, they just had to difficult a road to win a state title. As far as History goes, it would not be fair to put Trinity in the same sentence with Carroll. However I would say this year that Trinity and Carroll deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence, Trinity is a legit title contender and should be a favorite in the D1 bracket.

I agree whole heartedly that Colerain was the better team that night. I also have no problems saying that Colerain may be the better team period.
I will give credit where credit is due.
We will have to see how the year turns out for us to measure how good of a team Colerain beat and how good of a team REL was beaten by.
I do not want to sound like a homer, but I do not think REL is that good this year.
REL is just decent IMO until proven otherwise.

Allright we have a curveball thrown at this matchup. Trevor Vittatoe and La Derrick Handy have been charged with Minor in Possession. We'll see if they are punished and are unable to play Friday. The right thing for Coach Lineweaver to do would be to sit them out for the game, and this game would be the one to do it was risking anything for district wouldn't be worth it. I know revenge is wanted on Tyler Lee but its just a non-district game, its not like the end of the world. Plus Dmitri Nance is still avaliable, and how hard is it really for their backup QB to turn around and hand off to Dmitri as he runs behind that massive line?
We used to have players getting MIP's on a regular basis at my high school. This should be no big deal.

WHERE DO YOU BHS06 GET YOUR MISGUIDED INFORMATION???? WHO IS YOUR (UN)RELIABLE SOURCE OF INFORMATION TRUEBLUE? BHS06, YOU ARE GETTING PRETTY GOOD AT PUTTING UNFOUNDED INFORMATION OUT HERE. The last report you posted said that Trevor Vittatoe was seen fleeing from an incident at Bell h.s. You never did reply to the post in the threat you started with that. I'm sure you remember, and frankly, if you are going to continue to post RUMORS that are unfounded.. YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING ALLOWED IN HERE. It appears to me that you have something against Trevor because this is the second time, you've posted his name with inaccurate information. UNLESS YOU HAVE FACTS, KEEP YOUR OPINIONS CONCERNING OTHER PLAYERS TO YOURSELF!!!!! WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO SMEAR THE REPUTATION OF VITTATOE AND HANDY? WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE FACTS, YOU ARE ONLY HURTING PEOPLE WITH NO JUST CAUSE. IF YOU HAVE TO SPREAD RUMORS, THERE IS ENOUGH REALITY FOR YOU TO TALK ABOUT THAT HAVE BEEN VERIFIED INSTEAD OF STUFF YOU THINK YOU KNOW. IF any Trojan violated any rules, Lineweaver wouldn't need you to tell him how to handle a situation with his players. So who cares what you think he should do.
THIS IS RIDICULOUS and totally unnecessary.

Folks,
A public message board such as this is NOT, and never will be a place to spread damaging and slanderous rumors with ZERO basis in fact. The only time such discussion will be tolerated is if it's related to a print media story to which you can provide a direct reference and/or link. Until then, such things are not going to be discussed on this board. I shouldn't even have to make this post.
About the game itself...
Many people are mistakenly overlooking Tyler Lee in this game. Despite the loss to Colerain, Lee is still one of the top 15 teams in the state and they will be a strong test for Trinity...they will be the best team they have played so far, by far. Lee can win this game, but Trinity is an absolute juggernaut on offense. Lee will need to create multiple turnovers to give themselves a chance to pull this one out, but I expect them to be competitive.

Well.. 25-12 isnt exactly 45-10. Especially if you take into account all the intangables (long distance travel and ect).
The 45-10 score surprises me alot in the Texas High vs ECA game. I knew that ECA wasnt their usual self but that kind of shocks me that Texas High beat them like that. That's worse then the Springdale team.
The Colerain vs Tyler Lee game was like alot of (Big In-State) Texas games against Top powers. 3 to 4 plays in the game were the difference in the entire game.. the other 80 plays were an even "Push."

I think it is funny how so many people in Texas were rooting FOR Lee last week and now that they lost, so many people are rooting AGAINST Lee so Texas can redeem itself a little for the loss to Colerain. If Trinity smashes Lee then it gives Colerain very little to stand on. If Lee wins then Colerain may still think they beat the best team in Texas............

It is quite apparent to me that you either didn't watch or listen to the Lee/Colerain game or know absolutely nothing about football.
Lee's mental mistakes and kicking game cost them any chance of winning this game. P/M me and I'll give you a complete rundown of the game w/out wasting the space on here to beat a dead horse. Lee may not beat Trinity, but if they don't, it's not going to be a spanking. This will be the game of the week in Texas High School football this week. I'm personally glad our kids had the opportunity to go to Ohio to play, but all things considered(band, drill team, cheerleaders, and a huge home crowd), I'm excited about the opportunity to play a great Trinity team and I know for a fact our players are.

Mental mistakes? The same way that Waco lost like 6 fumbles while driving against you guys? That's the only reason you guys won that game, and Waco STILL have you guys fits and kept the game close with all the fumbles.
If Lee plays horrendous defense like they have been, this game WILL be a blowout, as Trinity's offense rolls. Last year, Trinity beat Lee when Lee didn't have the Big 5 (DeHaven, Van Zandt, Stripling, Scates, and Egeeki sp?) and those 5 are gone this year... Didn't Trinity put 42 on you guys? And that was after they had gotten blown out by Midland Lee and DeSoto. This year, they actually blew out those two teams. I think this game won't even be close.

We'll wait a few weeks and see how bad we really are. I haven't seen anybody yet I was scared for our team to play. I don't think we'll have any undefeated teams in our district by the end of the season and that includes Longview!

on the other hand, this is a perfect setup game. even well coached teams suffer them. trinity is trying to get respect as well as prove they can play with the big boys every week. tlee has travel issues and while not overlooking trinity, won't be as likely to prepare as effectively for them. there really is no way to know how kids or coaches will react to something they had never done before. et by 21, in a game that won't prove they are 21 pts better, just on a normal week.

Uh.. I don't see what watching it would have really had to do with it. I mean, a loss is a loss. My point was that it is kind of funny when people are saying "it was closer than the score". Because that's crap. If it was closer than that, the scored would be 10-9 or something along those lines. I just find it amusing that people say that like they are trying to console the losers.
But no, I didnt watch the game or listen to it. I know enough about football to pay attention to it and watch it for entertainment. I had my own "close" game to listen to. (ECA/TxHigh)
I'm not knocking your school and I hope you dont think that I am. That never was my intention and I'm sorry if I came off that way.

We had travel issues last week and lost by 15 to nationally ranked team. What are our travel issues this week? REL high school all the way to Trinity Mother Francis Rose Stadium? I think we'll make that trip w/out too much adversity! As far as being prepared goes, we played them twice last year and they have the same head coach and same OC and it's pretty much give the ball to Nance and watch him run behind the largest offensive line in the country! We're used to that. It'll be a challenge to stop him because they can also pass a little bit, unlike Colerain.
And by the way, the highest ranked team you have left on your schedule is 41st! Play somebody then brag!

This should be a very good game (looking at it). Both teams look to be Top #15 level teams in Texas so it will be a toss-up game probably with about (3 to 4 plays) making the difference in the game. Just like with most bigtime matchups with State Powers.
Just like with REL vs Colerain ( the whole game about 3 plays went Colerain way) that made the difference in the game.
With the REL vs Trinity game. The games being played in Tyler so that should give REL some boost. Probably going to come down to who wins the turnover battle.
Should be a fun game with both teams trading some blows with each other and probably coming down to the 4th Qt. :D

bragging has not been involved. take a chill pill. the strain of the last few months leading up to last weekend has caused some snippiness that isn't terribly becoming. i'm giving opinions based on some prior knowledge. you are responding harshly because??? give it a rest. this game is meaningless, anyway. where are you retrieving these equally meaningless rankings. until and unless the uil starts seeding, it'll stay meaningless, except to throw down when you don't get your way, and your feelings are hurt.

Ok -- put into your own perspective, who is the toughest game you have remaining on your schedule? and who is the toughest game you have played to date? I'm not bitter, it's just that when you claim to be the best by playing no worthy opponents, it begins to look like Boise State!
Boise St. meet Georgia, Georgia, meet Boise State!
Last year you played a heck of an in season(Denton Ryan) and had no cake walk to your well deserved State Championship. This year you haven't won a game against a winning team!
By the way, the one comment I totally agree with was the 'circus' atmosphere. I'm glad our kids had the opportunity at such a game, but I think the atmosphere was something they weren't ready for(media, lunches and dinners, dead time, etc.)

you may not have been aware that the 02 team muddled thru a reg season schedule with no teams in the top 50 in the state and several in the bottom 50 and somehow managed to pull it out. tlee will get their playoff draw based not on their sos, but on their enrollment and the district record. i used to believe like you no doubt do that tough games were required to prepare for tough playoff performances. taint true. just like graduating from rice doesn't automatically make one smart, graduating from a&m commerce does prove otherwise. the only thing sos does is impress the pollsters, the second most ignorant group of people in the sporting world.

I'll agree to a certain degree. I think, when you're district is down like yours seems to be this year, that you need somebody to help get you to "game speed". If you had seen our game against Hollywood Chaminade Madonna this year, it took our kids a quarter to realize that going through the motions wasn't going to get the job done. Carroll is a great team that isn't going to be challenged (unless they overlook somebody, which a Dodge coached team isn't likely to do) until they get to the playoffs. We often don't know how we react under adverse conditions until those conditions are there. We made a number of mental blunders against Colerain that I'll be willing to bet don't get repeated for the remainder of this year. (unfortunately, our lack of a kicking game isn't a mental blunder) Good luck to ya'll and I'll be at some of the playoff games!

I think REL is in the #12 to #17 area this season so far in State. They might drop lower or even get higher depending on how the season plays out.
The district is going to be tough because Longview, JT and some of the Mesquite teams arent going to be pushovers.

Seems you were dead wrong Hornifield - rare things do happen -- you being wrong and REL getting destroyed at home.
I was an REL apologist last year - I remember vividly telling all here that REL would be around in the end - despite being 2-2 at the time.
Well, I'm officially on the other end of the spectrum. I'm not sure what's up with the Raiders, but they aren't the REL I'm used to. Getting pummeled AT HOME doesn't happen to good teams.
Until proven otherwise - I see a REL team that will be doing very well to take the third playoff spot - and not do too much from there. Time to get it together Coach Owens.
If someone wants to admit the Colerain fiasco was just that - a massive mistake that hurt this team badly for 2 weeks - and that the boys were dead tired from travel and hype - I may change my stance. But, this team has no chance against Longview the way they're playing now - and many other district foes are looking pretty good against REL in this present state of mediocrity.
