With losses to Klein Oak and Aldine Mac, what in the world is wrong with KC?
You cannot say because Goodson hasn't played because you should still beat those teams. Goodson will be ready in time to play the wood but yikes! we may need to do something about the rest of the team

I agree, the Tigers have just been playing bad thats all there is to it. The MacArthur game was just embarrassing, only 65 yards rushing from a team that is primarily a running offense. You just can't win games that way. And no you cannot just rely on Goodson, other players on offense are going to have to step up.

Their run offense was different LAST YEAR....everyone has seen it now, they had Cove scratching their heads in the first half (04 playoffs), but coaches made adjustments, an Cove spanked them after that.

Collins is not the same team nor the same talent as last year. Reasons I see.
1) Cameron Luke, Roy Yancy and Justin Jones are gone (2600 yrads rushing) and they were not replaced with any thing close.
2) They have 6 starters injured. (2 for the year). They started 2 returning players on defense and 4 on offense against Aldine McArthur.
3) The switch of Chris Burns to fullback is not working well. Not only do you take an All-District Tackle off the line, you slow down everything in the backfield. Move Chris back to tackle (put on 20+ lbs.) and the line really improves with Matt Allen and David Brown. The kid in there is undersized and inexperienced.
4) They lack leadership. The seniors this year were behind 3 years starters (see above) that are gone.
5) 5 new coaches after losing 3 to Oak Ridge plus 2 others. New coaches are real good but it takes time.
6) Losing Goodson cost them the Oak game. No question but they played flat and got butt whipped against Aldine Mc.. Don't know when he is coming back but I hope he is 95% when he does. He is fun to watch.
They will be down for a couple of years but sub-varsity teams are good and deep. Freshman are 4-0 with 4 shutouts. A team has outscored opponents 83-0 and are strong in all phases of the game.

Not only do they miss the big 3 from last year but with Goodson out, their QB can not throw against a normal 2 deep defense. When they played KO and before Goodson was hurt, KO played the CB up to stop the run and the receivers could find large holes in the zone which allowed the QB to hit them. After Goodson when out the CB played off the line and the holes became smaller and the ball sailed all over the place. The same thing happened last week.
For KC to win they need to force the D to bring the CB up so the QB can throw into wide spaces or find another QB.

When Goodson comes back, they will be much better. The offense is run first, throw second which is why the first drive against Oak was so good. They will continue to have problems on defense. They do have a big d-ineman coming off injury in week or so and maybe Goodson and the center can play soon on offense.

I would be careful about Goodson coming back, he has a strained achilles tendon. Those things are slow to heal and if he comes back too soon and gets hurt again he will be out for the year or maybe longer, especially if he tears it next time. If you are looking to play in college, I would not mess around with that kind of injury. Those things can end a career before it starts.

I agree. I will let you know if he plays but I think the plan is to not play him until he is full healed. There is a lot of undue pressure on Feldman to win at Magnolia but my read is he is not playing Michael until he is healed. Rumor is that the time off has done wonders and he is biting at the bit. We will see.

the fact is that klein collins just lost too much, offensively and coaching wise. klein oak has a very solid team this year and suprisingly macarthur has done better than expected also. dont worry though collins fans, at least you get to play huntsville once!! i cant wait to see the matchup between ex coach Barrett and klein collins.

I pick them to beat a poor Magnolia team this week.

How is Goodson resting the ankle, is he wearing a boot / cast or doing special exercises? They should not need him to beat Magnolia, their O & D line should carry them. Next week they get TWHS at home and they will need Goodson to put pressure on the D.

I think he hurt his achilles tendon and he will play next week I think, but he needs to be careful with that, that could end his college career if it snaps.

I thought KC had 3 D1 lineman? Texas, Oklahoma and LSU?

Why is Klein Collins so bad?
They lost some key players. If you look at last year's JV & Sophmore, they were simply wiped off the field by TWHS. Defense is lacking & their great RB was hurt & not full speed.
Other teams can focus on 1 or 2 players. Klein Collins will be replaced by Klein Forest in the playoff picture.

Agree that Lufkin and KF are front runners. TWHS should always be there with the numbers they have but it will be different story in the future with new school and they played well against North Shore defensively.
They have 2 D1 lineman. Brown and Allen but Burns was a little small and they moved him to fullback and he lost 25 pounds.
The senior class at Magnolia was 10-0 2 years ago in subvarsity so they have some talent. It will take good effort (and Goodson if he plays) to win.
It will be fun watching Oak Ridge and Barrett play Collins. Losing Barrett is not a big deal but losing Svaboda (strength and conditioning) to them was. Collins was one of few schools who had a dedicated strength and conditioning coach and they haven't replaced the position.
