never take anything for granted.

I can't wait till week 9 when Cove comes down to AMC. I'm hoping we're both undefeated in district. That game might just prove to be HUGE. And, well, I love to watch huge games! :)

Belton is sure to be improved....they seem to have returned a starting RB thats pretty darn good...

Instead of worrying about Cove you should be worrying about your defense. Weslake torched you guys for over 500 yards. You have a long way to go before talking about being undefeated and playing a week 9 game.

They had 51 plays and over 500 yards that would mean you need to work on defense. If defense stops them you won't be on field for 51 plays. Also if your offense sustained some drives that would keep your defense off the field.

There coach came from Abilene High, and brought 2 coaches with him. He was the offensive cordinator for Abilene High last year, his name is Phil Blue he is very good ! he will turn that program back into a winner. ;)

Like i said in another thread, wEstlake played a GREAT game, probably as good as they can play or close to it.

Consol played as bad a first half as a team can just about possibly play, fumbles, INT's, giving up long TD passes. Horrible.

And yet, they came extremely close to tying it up in the 2nd half. That showed me what those boys are really made of. It would have been easy to just tuck tail and try to just go home. I'm real proud of them. It's what I saw in the 2nd half that has me thinking they have one helluva shot at meeting Cove in week 9 with no district losses.

Just my $.02.

Perhaps you are right but it is the first half of the game that will get you into trouble!!!

LOL..I feel your pain. You mean you actually thought this thread would stay on topic? As you know, that rarely happens!! At least nobody has mentioned Tyler Lee or Colerain on this thread!

BTW, I am not sure what coach Blue has talent wise there in Georgetown but he can sure call a good offensive game. We truly hated to lose him here in Abilene. He knows how to keep the defense guessing.

All these post have a way of getting "off topic" kind of what happens when a conversation gets going.

It should take a little while to get Georgetown going in the right direction. Before the coaching change, and for the last 6 years at least, they have been the most underachieving team I witnessed. Hopefully the new coach can put some discipline into those kids and get them to play with some spirit. Georgetown is a sleeping giant in my book.

They haven't been to the playoffs since they discovered the shotgun. They used to be one of the great smash mouth teams in the CENTEX.

Hers's my take, do not throw rocks back at me, :).

Georgetown has never been a great team although they have had some good teams. When Georgetown is in 13-5A they struggle. When they used to be in the Austin districts (years ago) they did pretty good. In the current line up in the Austin area, Georgetown has struggled. It was time for a coaching change. I say it will take 3 years before you will notice some success in Georgetown. Georgetown is the only city in 5A in that local area that only has one high school. That is what puzzles me, one high school, lots of talent, where is it all at? I know someone will say Leander and Cedar Park only have one high school in heach city but they are both Leander ISD.

Georgetown will have a second high school in the next 5 years or so, about the time that they may be at the topof their game they will have to divide.

I live in GT and want them to do well but Rome was not built in a day and neither is the Eagle football team.

Leander may only have one high school in town but Vista Ridge in Cedar Park takes about a 1/3rd of our students away each year. Georgetown was supposed to have a very strong team 2 years ago and finished under .500. Thats just the way they have been ever since i have been watching them. Not exactly tons of talent, but more than what you would expect from a team thats been in the cellar of this district for a while (I'm saying this and they beat us last year  ) lol.

Georgetown doesn't have the talent everyone thinks on the guys side. Their starting quarterback two years ago, Houston Herbstoesser, trasferred from Westlake where he was third string. The programs they've run, doesn't matcht their kids.

consol only has one HS for College Station.

yes, Bryan is right next door, but they're their own city and one HS.

Both towns are planning to add a HS in the next 5 years.

A lot of us boosters on both sides of the tracks are pushing for a 9-10th campus and an 11-12th campus.

I'd hate to see College Station become two 3A schools. That would blow big time. But having a 9-10 campus and an 11-12 campus would work. Consol's varsity only has one sophomore on it. and he starts.

It might make JV practiced a bit difficult if you're a JR, but I'd trade that difficulty in leiu of having 2 3A schools. That'd suck big time.

The boys at Georgetown played their butts off last Friday. I salute them. They never gave up.
