Surprised there's no thread on this game yet.

Katy 34
Humble 20

Good game and who is this QB from Humble? He looks similar to Vincent Young. The guy is 6'-6" 220 lbs. and can run. Why didn't you Lufkin fans say anything about this guy? I know ya'll scrimmaged with Humble this year but I don't remember hearing about their QB.
Anyway, Humble looks like a playoff contender for sure. They run their offense well and their defense are hitters.
Boy there was really only one questionable call by the refs last night. On a two point conversion by Humble, the receiver pushed off the defender and then caught the ball. I thought, "That one is coming back". No flag and then the booing commenced. It was the first time I could remember such a long, boisterous boo from the Katy crowd. I would like to hear a Humble fan's comment.

We didn't say anything about the Humble QB, because he didn't do all that much against us in the scrimmage. He is a big kid and throws a nice ball and can run, I can see him giving most defenses problems this year. I don't know who he is, but could be another DI college prospect from Humble.

His name is Jerrod Johnson and he played wide receiver as a sophomore and junior. He wore #9. He's an experienced varsity player and verbally committed to Texas A&M.

It's unfair to compare anyone to VY. I don't expect to see another HS player like that in my lifetime.

I meant size-wise mostly. He may be a little bigger than VY was in high school. JJ made a couple of unwise decisions on the field and was lucky he didn't have the 2-point conversion called back.

Did you see the Humble - Elsik game? Did they use the same offensive scheme wirh Katy that they did with Elsik? I got the feeling that the offense Humble used last night was designed specifically to spread out the Katy defense both front and back to open wide running lanes, which it did very well. I was not nearly as impressed with Johnson as I was the offensive structure. They employed it very well and I feel that I could have done as good a job running the ball as Johnson with all the room he had to choose from.
I'd have to call that offense a spread triple option. When the running backs received the hand-off they were pretty much running full speed and were tough to bring down. I was extremely impressed with Tunley. He runs a lot like Brandon King and as much as I hate to say this, Brandon could learn some things by watching film of this kid.

Humble is a good team and should do well this year.

Overall the Tigers were very impressive against a very determined opponent. It's good to see the punting game back in form and far fewer penalties. The composure and the discipline of this team has me Smilin.
