Saw the game last night against Aldine. What an offensive display! Score: 42-16 with another TD called back on a penalty.

Next week it's Baytown Sterling and then the big one against North Shore. Who knows...North Shore may take the Bulldogs lightly and end up 2nd in the district. ;)

I don't think so Augisdoggies - Like Big Daddy Cool said on another thread - all North Shore fans are aware that they are vulnerable to getting beat - but it's going to have to be one heck of a team. Like a Westfield type team. Is Laporte in that elite?

LP is not very good. They beat a bad Aldine team and they are bragging. Why? 3/4 of the teams in Houston would have beat Aldine. And it isn't like they destroyed Lake. If it wasn't for some special team mistakes, Lake would have won. I chalk that up to Lake finding a way to lose more than LP finding a way to win. You have Sterling next week. Now that is a tough one. North
Shores Freshmen B team could beat them. And don't get me started about LP vs. NS. The Sho will humiliate LP. LP better hope it can beat Deer Park for the 3rd place spot. It doesn't really matter. 24-5a 3rd place team will be a hell of a lot better than LP.

Augisdoggies, the real question you should be asking is "when does baseball season start?" That is the only chance washed up LP has.

"WASHED UP LP"??? What is that supposed to mean?

Regardless of how the Bulldogs beat Clear Lake, they beat them after coming back from 20 down in the 4th. They beat Aldine by what should have been 30 points (a TD was called back due to a penalty).

They have scored 77 points in 2 games!

I'm not saying they are an "elite" team, I'm not even saying that they WILL beat North Shore. What I am saying is that as much as NS has dominated district 23-5A, they may be overlooking La Porte. Probably not, but maybe.

3rd coastfootball, I don't even know you and I already don't like your arrogance and overly opinionated replies. I mean really, these kids play their a$$ off and you're talking about "humiliating" them. Please.

easy fella!
let's not get carried away. Thier offense was responsible for about 14 points against Lake, so let's not give the banner of the Manning Colts. Feel lucky you are 2-0, cause you should have gotten rolled by a Lake team that is not that good. I mean it was 34-14 with 10 minutes to go. I don't think any team can say they could win that one because of what they did. They need the other team to lose it, which Lake did with special teams.
But, good luck with Northshore.

Regardless of what you wannabe experts say...the LP Bulldogs have had two excellent offensive games.

Let me ask you something, were you even at the La Porte-CLear Lake game? Were you at the La Porte-Aldine game? Because if you weren't then how do you feel qualified to determine whether or not the Bulldog offense is any good.

I saw both of them and I saw what I think is a very good offense. I've always wondered if it really makes a person feel better when they say "They didn't beat us, we beat ourselves". It's always been a cop-out cliche and it still is.

I know LP isn't a world-beater but like I said in my original post...maybe they catch the Mustangs napping.

Boogie Anagnostou is one of the best QBs in the state. He is also one of the best baseball players in the state. When you have a player like that pulling the strings, the "unreachable" suddenly looks a little more accessible. I like the firepower La Porte has this year, and think they can definitely make the playoffs.

Making the playoff might happen but beating North Shore just won't happen.
I do think that they will give North Shore the best game in district play and I hope to see the bulldogs in the playoffs. Just one question is Boogie very fast because he will be runnig for his life if the defensive plays at the level they played friday night. Looking forward to seeing the game I hope the bulldogs give North Shore a game they have to earn. Go Bulldogs

I believe that LaPorte will give us a nice challenge as well as possibly Dobie.
The more challenges the better for us, we definetly need them for playoff preparation.

Let me ask you something, were you even at the La Porte-CLear Lake game?

Let's see what I remember from the Lake-LP game...a nice 60 yard TD run on the second play of the game. I don't recall the second TD but that was it until 9:30 in the 4th quarter when LP made another nice drive from their 20 after a Lake fumble in the endzone. A blocked punt that LP recovered on the Lake 20 and turned into a TD. A blocked punt that LP recovered on the Lake 1 and punched in for a TD. Not exactly what I would call an excellent offensive game. Your special teams, or was it just one guy on your special teams (?), made the plays that won the game for you, not the offense, although they did have to score the TDs. All in all a nice effort for your first game of the year but I wouldn't count on winning any more like you won the Lake game. Down by 20 with 10 minutes left in the game is not an advantageous position to be in on a regular basis.

Saw some pretty good offensive talent in spurts that I presume will get better thru the year but just a bit early to throw down the gauntlet at North Shore. Congratulations on your 2-0 start, and your win over Lake. Maybe there is a rematch coming up at the end of the season?

You're right, no team needs to make it a habit of coming back from 20 points down in the 4th to win a game. But I'm not basing my analysis of the La Porte offense on just that one game. They had a well-rounded attack against Aldine. The skill positions are their strong point and can score at any time.

Anagnostou, the QB, is not particularly fast or elusive. He doesn't have the strongest arm I've ever seen. What he does have is an uncanny ability to see the whole field and hit the 3rd option when the 1st and 2nd receivers are covered.

No one is "throwing down the gauntlet" at North Shore, as you have so dramatically stated. All I'm saying is that if North Shore is caught napping, La Porte may surprise them.

Unfortunately for all other teams that have to play North Shore, I think the Woodlands caught the only nap they will be taking this season. They woke up in time to win that one as well.

Nice come back against Lake but definately not where you want to be in most games. I believe that it showed great character in not ever giving up and perseverance to win. Definately in contention for a playoff spot.

Go Dogs! From a '78 grad and played on the 77-78 team that won their bi-district game against Dulles, then got clocked by PNG in the dome. No we didn't have leather helmets. :D

Left that LP for the Lufkin version of LP.

Congratulations on barely beating a Clear Lake team who's offensive line averaged 30 pounds and 3 inches less than your defense. No wander you blocked multiple kicks... Anyways, if your going to win against North Shore your defense is gonna have to step up... allowing 5 TD's to a team with O-lineman that small is just insane. But Baytown Lee allowed 63 points so at least your not in their boat. O well, we'll see ya'll in the first round!

Is La Porte a better team with or without Mills? Seems like he had things headed in the right direction and they have continued that way. What are your thoughts on this?

Good teams put people away in the 4th quarter. Also make the adjustments to stop their opponents. Clear Lake was held to only one touchdown in the second half. You can say if all day, but the only thing that matters is who is ahead at the end of the game. Sometimes a better team loses to a lesser team. But think about it Clear Lake had already played one game and La Porte was playing in their first. Clear Lake can say they gave the game away, but would not you rather be saying you won. That is just an excuse for losing.

I believe that Mills got the Bulldogs started in the right direction. I was sorry to see him go. He seemed to have a well thought-out game plan and direction for the team as a whole.

The problem with past La Porte teams was that they were very undisciplined. Too many individuals with attitudes (that's why their success didn't follow them on to the college level).

Don't know too much about the new coach, Coach Lereau (sp?) but he seems to be pulling the right strings with the players. Has a pretty good offensive coordinator and the discipline of the kids is impressive.

I see the Bulldogs going 8-2 and possibly even 9-1. We'll see.
