Supposedly he is decommitting from OU and going to Texas... if so it would be a nice pick up I think... He is from Round Rock High School...

Rivals says he's already decommitted. He's an interesting prospect. Ran a 4.38 at a Scout combine this Summer. Reminds me of Deon Beasley.

Kirkendoll is a very talented player. Anyone who can make a Lufkin defense look slow and flat footed has skills.

I remember the Lufkin fans saying this kid was a player after the loss... he sounds like an exciting player...

As talented as he is, and he is very talented (just ask AMC or Lufkin), i'm not too sure about whether or not i like this. After observing him for 3 years, i've picked up that he has a VERY serious attitude problem when things arent going his way. I've seen him in consecutive years go on a rant on the Round Rock sideline, and i've even seen him act like a hot shot on several situations where he would taunt the opposing teams players. It's kind of known around 14-5a that he has a huge attitude problem, probably similar to what you guys in 15-5a saw in Kyle Drabek in baseball (because i saw him and his acts in baseball against Georgetown in a playoff game). I'm sure he will be humbled at the next level when he finds out that hes not the bigshot anymore and its a fairly level playing field, but i said the EXACT same thing about Ramonce Taylor and Erik Hardamen after seeing what they acted like against Leander, and those are the only two players (along with Kirkendoll) that i've felt this way about. And look where those two guys ended up....

I didn't see any issues in the Lufkin game, and he was wearing them out( had the right to talk smack) I am sure you've seen him more games than just one, but he was a pivotal player in that game.

You didnt see him have any issues against Lufkin because he was having his way with the #3 (or whatever) team in the nation. Let me just put it this way... The only person EVER in the history of me watching Leander football that did more taunting than Kirkendoll was Ramonce Taylor. It's the same way for him on the basketball court from what i've seen from him. His brother JR Kirkendoll who was a former Round Rock high school qb was one of the more classy guys you'll ever meet. But IMO James is on the complete other end of the spectrum. Like i said before, James Kirkendoll is to high school football what Kyle Drabek was to high school baseball. One of the most amazing talents you'll ever see, but because he knows it and hasn't been humbled yet he will continue to act the way he does.

Well, if he shows up at Texas with a major attitude, "I'm the best stuff" I'm sure he'll be humbled pretty quickly.

I'm probably not the best guy to speak about "aarogance", but a kid that shows up to a game with "Superman Under Armour" has got to think he's pretty damn special...

Hahaha, cant argue with that. Hey, maybe he is just a Superman fan..;)

Man, show up around my work area with a shirt like that on and you would "NEVER LIVE THE JOKES DOWN." You would regret the day you even thought about buying that shirt.

It had nothing to do with a lack of speed on the LP defense (they have plenty as you know) it was simply a case where LP D looked like they had never seen a reverse or a misdirection play in their life. Talk about over pursuing. The D looked completely clueless in that game and were dominated like I have rarely seen ( besides SLC in 05 and Ike in 00) in the past 6 years.

He was a very impressive athlete either way but after looking at his superman tshirt it will be hard for me to cheer for him.

Is Kirkendoll the kid that plays both ways pretty much for the entire game?

There will only be 1 "Superman" in UT history.

If hes running a legit 4.38 40 yd, and hes already been making defenses look silly, then give him a chance. In his mind he is Superman.

I've actually never seen this before but lets just say it was expected. The only thing that suprises me about this picture is that he's not flexing or something else to show himself off.

Pretty good...I liked his plays on defense. He sure knows how to break up that pass. Any clue about what position he will be looked at most at Texas?

Scout and Rivals both have Texas recruiting him as a WR and WR alone. Consider that he is pretty much the exact same kind of athlete that Dean Beasley is, but Beasley was recruited as an "athlete" or CB/WR. I think Texas has every desire to play him at WR where he will be needed in '08 with the graduations of Sweed and Pittman.

As a rugby fan, I'm always full of admiration for legit 2-way players.
