Vote? This here is a dictatorship. KT2000 makes 'Our Picks' usually :D. Most of the time, we are thinking along the same lines anyway, but as you can see, I do have a slight advantage in the Pick 'Em so far. One of these days, I may have to stage a coup.

i was thinking about tapeing it, and decided itd probally be replayed again on ESPN U, that ESPN U has the worst timing, a couple nights ago they had a replay of the Illlinois/Rutgers game and i wanted to watch it, i had to stay up till 2...on a school night, i thought about going to bed...then was like screw it Illinois game, i was tired the enxt day

Congrats... Good game. :) Colerain played a very sound game.

I thought REL came out very flat in the 1st QT. They looked like they were in a different "zone". Probably some of the freakout factor effect of being in a crazy venue in a big away game. They tighten up for the rest of the game and played solid football. But, they couldnt overcome the sluggish 1st QB that put them 14 pts behind.

I thought on the first series when REL had (4th & foot) they should of gone for it. Even told my buddy (at his house watching the game) that when your in a big away game you have to take chances like (4th & foot).

Colerain got the ball and took those chances (4th down) conversions and it paid off. Basically Colerain coaches played to win and REL coaches played way to conservative (play calling). They should of taken more chances vertically down the field and they didnt except in the 2nd QT ( 2 long td passes) but didnt test Colerain deep again (????). Not one time in the 3rd or 4th did they attempt a pass for 10 yds or more.

Anyway, when it was all said and done it was a good game ( in Ohio) at Crew Stadium.

Like I've always said.. this game really just confirmed to me what I've always stated.

Colerain will be a top #5 team in Ohio. They will cake walk the rest of their regular season games and probably pretty much cake walk to the Ohio Semi's Finals and good chance to the Ohio Title game.

Like I said.. Colerain is a #5 Ohio team.

REL is probably on the bubble of #13 - #17 in Texas this season. The season will have to play out but that's about where I see them stacking up so far. We'll see how the season plays out.

So, for Texas #13-#17 team coming to Ohio and playing an Ohio #5 team they didnt do to bad... (In Ohio).

Hopefully next season we can get another Ohio #5 team to come (to Texas) and play a team that has a strong program like Southlake Carroll or Katy (in Texas).

First - congrats to Colerain and Concha - obviously you were the better team last night. The score surprises me somewhat, particularly holding Lee to 12 points - that is surprising - Cole. clearly has a good D.

Cole. scoring 27 was to be expected - Lee has never shut teams down. The second half score of 6-0 is very surprising as well. I didn't see the game, and don't know if I will - I'm sure it was good.

TF's post is exactly why these types of games are pointless, however. The losing team/state will backpeddle and say -- Lee won't repeat and is not Texas' best - and it was played in Ohio, etc.

I hope the kids/Lee folk enjoyed it -- but, just as I did from DAY ONE - I question Coach Owens for doing this.

Its a simple fact. The away teams in these big 1,000 mile matchup usually lose 95% of the time. Alot of it travel and freakout effect for the kids.

ECA travels to DLS.. they get beat in Cali.
Mid Lee drives on buses to West Monroe ... they get beat.
ECA travels to Hoover.. they get beat.

There are other examples. Just saying that when you take (15,16,17) year old kids on a big road trip (airplanes to another State). More often then not there is going to be some mental lapses going on with the team.

The home team has clear advantages because they get to stay in a "comfort zone."

As far as ranking go:

Colerain will be a top #5 Ohio team. REL is probably a bubble team in Texas this season (#13-#17).

I say not bad for lets say Texas #13 team traveling to Ohio and playing a Top #5 Ohio team.

I fully expect for Texas to send an invitation to one of Ohio powers for next season so we can see them here ( in Texas).

PS. Maybe we can get an Elder, Moeller, St.X or Colerain to come to Texas and play Lufkin.

Hey, Froggy, I posted a question on another thread...

If Colerain (Concha) disputes SLC's #1 National ranking thinking that they should be #1 and that Ohio football is better than Texas then why didn't they travel down here to Dragon stadium and play SLC? Wouldn't that be a telling story.
Colerain played it safe and smart.

I agree with Coach Outlaw. He would NEVER give up a home game and agree to what Coach Owens agreed to. IMO it conveys weakness, not strength of a program. Coach Outlaw stated he gets calls like this constantly - trying to get Lufkin to give up home games and travel across the globe - ain't happening and I respect him for that.

I admire Lee - great program with a great coach. But, the facts remain - Coach Owens backed out on Lufkin and gave up a home game for LEE's fans, traveled across the country and got thumped by what appears to be a better team.

Part of me sure admires Coach Owens for doing it, and part of me says he was foolish and let the ego get to him and he played into the hands of the powers-that-be that want so desperately to take HS football to a nationwide status.

Ya, I know that Coach Outlaw really isnt much for the intra-State matchups.

His said years ago that his not a big fan of it because the rules (transfers and ect) in many States are alot different then Texas. So, he doesnt like that.

First.. I've stated it a 1,000 times. I'm not really a big fan of national polls because I think their pretty much a joke on the High school level. They cant even get them right 90% of the time on the college level.

But, I would be hard pressed to see a team beating the 2004 SLC team.

Second. I've also stated a 1,000 times and this game ( Colerain vs REL) did nothing but reinforce my beliefs about so called "ELITE TEAMS" from States.

Texas has about 15
Ohio has about 6
Florida has about 5
La. 3
Ok 2
Ark 2
Cali 6
Ala 2
Mo. 4
S.C 3
N.C 2

and so forth. This game hasnt changed my belief one bit about that.

I know they'll (Ohio) claim some kind of superority over Texas because Colerain (Top #5 in Ohio) beat Tyler Lee in Ohio. That's great.

I saw the game on tv. It wasnt a blowout by any means. REL played a sloppy 1st quarter and then it was pretty much a "PUSH" for the rest of the game. The 1st Qt they just werent running on all cyclinders.

The second half neither team did much. It was back and forth and Colerain got a FG on one drive. REL had a few chances deep in their side of the field but they stalled.

Like I said.. REL played pretty good for traveling to Ohio and playing in a venue where they had no support and 95% of the crowd was against them. A big whopping 15 pt win for Colerain. I'm very impressed ???? NOT.

Southlake Carroll would of put alot of pts on them.. but we'll keep that between us Ktcarl.
