ok just the get the facts straight about slc...they are not going to be number one this year, they will lose in the playoffs or at state if lucky. Many other ppl can tell you slc players who are writing on the board that yall are not the team yall use to be in the past several years and everyone knows it...there are alot more talented teams out there this year that will show that slc isnt as good as last year or the year before. :)

Midland Lee does not belong in there at all. What have they done. Yes they got the crap beat out of them by 2 good teams but Smithson Valley would kill them. They won't get past the 1st round. Cedric Benson graduated. Judson should be there instead. The nice thing is we get to find out who the bst team is. Sort of. Carroll would have beaten Tyler Lee last year.

strange as in very refreshing.....In my days at Cove, we were just hoping to at least score in a game...winning a game was almost unheard of. At one point in late 70's we were something like 0-29.... the only bright spot was in 76, we got a new coach (Edwards) we go 8-2 (8-0) then lost to Killeen and Temple in last games...(also the first year we were put in district with these schools)
You being an 05 Dawg, all you've known is winning and that's great. But alot of us "old timers" sitting in the stands, beating Killeen, Temple and some of the other locals has a lot of meaning as we used to get blasted by those teams year in, year out

Hasnt the dynamics of the whole Cove area changed about 100% over the last 10 years though ?? I'm sure that's helped make Cove more of a power in High school football.

Hasnt Fort Hood moved a few things around toward that Cove side also ?

Cove has grown, but most of Fort Hood things have gone towards Killeen ( 2 new High Schools), The biggest thing to happen for Cove football is Jack Welch arriving as coach. He got the program going in the Jr. high level, and taught the kids how to win. At least 3 of his boys are now in the pros (unheard of in the past for Cove) Charles Tillman (bears) Vontes Duff (Steelers) and TJ is with the Giants

It's pretty cool to final have your school mentioned with the Tyler Lee's, Lufkins, Judsons and other great programs around the state

A lot can happen between Week 0 and week 2. There is no "Margin of Victory" points....even the BCS dropped that stupid stat. I remember Katy losing to a certain team early and beating them early in the year......do YOU?

Different teams have different strengths and weaknesses and perform differently on given nights! A wider margin of victory doesn't mean a thing! It took them a while, but even the BCS finally stopped letting that dictate ratings.

I'm amazed that on this and all sites that REL is downgraded this much for a loss to Colerain - who is nationally ranked and we played them there and Abilene High barely beats a now 0-3 4A Brownwood team at home and maintains a ranking. Not taking away anything from Abilene because I think they will be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time, but it leaves me baffled!

Just a couple of things here:

1. Here is a site that the Dragons aren't #1.
2. I'm amazed that on this and all sites that REL is downgraded this much for a loss to Colerain - who is nationally ranked and we played them there and Abilene High barely beats a now 0-3 4A Brownwood team at home and maintains a ranking. Not taking away anything from Abilene because I think they will be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time, but it leaves me baffled!

2) The Woodlands(0-2) are ranked ahead of Garland(2-1) and South Garland(2-1)?

3) And Plano, Austin Westlake, Tyler John Tyler, Pearland, Denton Ryan and A&M Consolidated are ranked below Pflugerville(1-2)?

4) Clear Lake(2-1) is Pearland biggest challenge this year, so far, and they're ranked #39, below Desoto(1-2)?

5) And Midland Lee (0-3) is in the top 40?....Where is Midland High (3-0), Odessa High (3-0) or Odessa Permian (3-0)? At least they've won 1 game!

The only team I switched out with was Abilene with Garland. Beating San Angelo, any Lubbock team and Brownwood isn't the same as beating a decent Plano East team and the 4A defending state champion, Ennis. I give Garland more street credit, and I think they're pretty darn good this year!!!
We'll see against Dallas Carter.

Here's my new list from Week 2:

Week 2:

1). Southlake Carroll
2). Spring Westfield
3). Katy
4). Euless Trinity

Just missed out: Mesquite, Leander, Pearland, Converse Judson, Plano, Dallas Carter, Abilene, Tyler John Tyler, Austin Westlake, Denton Ryan, Tyler Lee.

Out: Desoto

1) In my opinion Cy-Falls is better than The Woodlands. Both Katy and Northshore played and beat the Woodlands.

2) However, Westfield beat Cy-Falls soundly 40-12, and then mopped up a decent Alief Taylor squad 50-7.

3) Katy played and beat a sound Humble team, this past week. And their QB's ranking is flying into the atmosphere. Also beat a good Woodlands squad, soundly.

4) Longview has played some pre-season touted teams in West Monroe, LA and Lake Highlands, of whom beat a sound North Garland team. LV has won very soundly.

5) Euless Trinity has beaten a good Desoto squad, disgracefully, and, at the time, a 1 loss Midland Lee squad. This week will test it's density vs Lee. I look for a blowout.

5) Northsore barely beat the Woodlands 7-6. Absolutely crushed some fair Alief squads, but I still need to see more. And I'm sure I will. The athletes and the edger over a good Woodlands squad has meet highly interested. Not to mention scoring 114 pts in 3 games, while only giving up 20 pts.

NS will only get better!! And so will everyone else on this list. It just seems there's going to be some tough match-ups come the second round of the playoffs....especially in the DFW area. The teams in Houston to watch is NS, Katy, Westfield, Pearland, Clear Lake, Woodlands and Cy-Falls.

Oh and SLC is #1, until someone beats them. Sorry, that's just the way it is. Lee's already been beaten this year so you can rank them anyway you want, but SLC.....gotta knock'em off first.
