So when the Cowboys finish this season (Superbowl) Parcells announces his resignation and Jerry Jones announces that Barry Switzer is coming back to coach Da Boys.

Look at the bright side, with running backs like Julius Jones, Marion Barber III and Tyson Thompson, Switzer could bring back the wishbone. j/k!

Is Thomas Lott still in shape? Last I saw of him, he looked like he could still play.....guard.

Troy Aikman is comming out of retirement to QB the cowboys. Irvin will become TO's personal assistant, and Emmit will dance with the running backs..............LOL

I didn't know Mike Tyson knew anything about winning programs.
Weird.

Somehow I believe the selection committee has decided on someone that already has a Southlake lineage. Can you say....Wasson? I can. Hal will continue to protect the tradition because he is part of the tradition. Jan 15 should be the day.

The head coach job post date was December 26 and the close date is January 16. (http://www.southlakecarroll.edu/jobvac.htm#teaching).
...Jan 15 should be the day.
Seems like the superintendent would be asking for a headache, hiring someone before the close date of the job post.
And January 15 is a holiday for the District employees.
Also seems like the school board would approve the contact on January 22, as that's the next Monday and boards almost always meet on Mondays.
But I suppose it could happen.

My guess would be Hal as well. But who knows who else might apply? In any event, the 15th is not a likely outcome in terms of finalizing a choice and getting it through the approval processes. The Board will meet this coming Monday on a special session involving a revised schedule to accomodate the new state requirements and is not scheduled to meet again until the 22nd. It is possible that candidates will have been interviewed by then and a preference made. But even that seems to be rushing the matter a bit. Now I could see this being wrapped up by the end of the month with a second special meeting of the board taking place the last week of the month to vote on this one matter.

You know how we like to get started recruiting for next year??? :D Got to get our coach identified early. I threw out the 15th because it WAS a school holiday. Amazing how information gets released when no one is working, or there to answer the phone. The media is always working.

Is the Carroll district taking the MLK holiday because so many of the kids there were inspired by him?? My guess is half don't know who he is and won't learn unless he is on the TAKS test. It must be a required day off now.

Most students in CISD are pretty smart and probably do know who he is.

are you basing the percentage based on personal knowledge of similar demographics in your own backyard?

Careful Ranger, I remember getting into it a few months ago with some SLC guy and he started throwing his SAT score at me because his high school physics class was so great that most any SLC kid could have taught the astrophysics class at UT --- or something like that.
That same guy is probably teaching Urban Studies at UT because of the quality of SLC's social studies department, and don't you forget it.
Repeat after me and be absolved of your sin: Carroll High School kids are the best, they can do anything better than my kids can and they are certainly way smarter than my kids are.
Did you say it? If you say it quickly enough, you will ward off another SLC-is-the-best thread. Thanks, we've already had enough of those.

Amigo, go back and re-read my post. I was not commenting on Ranger's introduction of race to this thread. I am merely cautioning him against implying that SLC students are not all uniformly brilliant. I took issue with some insufferable SLC ex several months ago and caught several days worth of $#!+ over it from you guys.
I'll leave the racial discussion to y'all. I'm not going there. And as for James, bomb away, he's probably not real concerned about it and you won't hurt my feelings a bit.
