I still say that PE's "It takes a nation of millions to hold us back" is among the greatest rap albums ever. And I am willing to put it on my top 10 overall albums.
Rap music has evolved...and at it's peak had some incredible artists. Now I think they give away a record deal when you fill up your gas tank.

I think you're being kind. Locally all you have to do is put in enough gas to qualify for the free car wash......:D

Rap is still here, and as Nas states, "Hip Hop is dead", its really not. Theres those lyricists out there that still focus on the storytelling and lesson giving in thier raps as it was back in the day. You just have to find them, I've found more than needed for myself ;)
nas tries to be a martyr and show the youth the "way", but then his next single will be "smack dat ##### fo' a dolla".
damien marley is a pretty complicatied lyricist, specially once you get through that heavy jamaican accent. also talib kweli has some moving songs(unless mary j. blidges voice scares you).

Talib Kweli is the top rapper(overall) in the game today. Not really the best lyricist, I'd have to go with Cormega or Aesop Rock on that one. I have a feeling a lot of you guys would like Atmosphere. He's "white" enough for most of you
