How about canning the offensive coordinator and letting fran keep his job. Fran isn't doing a half bad job...he is reeling in good recruits which is pretty much his only task.

For a good part of this entire season, I have always wanted to put the blame on Darnell, the DC. Last night, I think both Darnell, and the Koenig (OC), sucked equally. I don't want to take anything away from Cal, they flat took it to the Aggies. Darnell and Koenig were not helping the Aggies.

I, too, have not thought that Fran was doing too bad a job, with the talent he had. Well, when BOTH coordinators are sub par, the Head Coach is responsible. That, and the fact that I believe that Fran calls some of the Offense.

It is true, that he is recruiting well. Lets see if that continues, after the whoopin his team experienced on Thursday night.

I think the DC is doing an exceptional job, especially since the defense is increasingly showing signs of the "wrecking crew" of old, but i'd have to say that they are severely lacking in the offensive play calling department. Thats been evident all year. Even in the wins. I'm beginning to wonder if Fran is under some other obligation to the OC than legitimate play calling.

..and one more thing,

Javorski Lane -Enough of the Thanksgiving leftovers already!!

Yes, Darnell has gotten better over the course of the year. However, the Texas game was the first game all year, where he actually seemed to make adjustments before the second half. Look back at the Tech game, Missouri game, Nebraska game. The Aggies were hanging on for dear life for the first half, and then flat shut down thier opponents in the second half. In the Texas game, the A&M defense was able to do that from the opening drive.

Last night, I saw NO signs of any adjustments what so ever. Darnell personally looked confused, when the camera swung in his direction.

I am afraid that the A&M offense has been the Aggies DC best friend this year. Last night that was exposed, when the offense stunk it up. With the A&M offense, you can't get multiple scores behind. The wheels fall off.

Very true. I saw that camera pan job over there on the confused sidelines. I was a little shocked to see them try and make up by switching to the spread (which is what Cal has been going up against all year). I would think a better choice would have been to mix it up with everything BUT that. Cal was sending everything but the bed pan to that O and it just seemed to put them into a state of further confusion. Definately not what i expected to see. Nor did anyone else in the Big-XII.

I think Cal was the better team. Texas, for whatever reason was not playing well when a$m beat them. They certainly get the credit, but I think it may have given some false confidence to the faithful.

Lane did seem out of shape for him, and not nearly as quick on his feet as normal.

Cal was determined, and the better team, and it showed.

If I were an a$m fan I would have concern w/the QB situation for the next two years. For as much as McGee has shown in toughness etc., he does not do enough in the passing game to keep the D's honest.

Hear ya.

One thing that did surprise me, was Cal's speed, defensivley. The Aggie option worked okay throughout the year, but with Cal guys out on the corners, waiting for the pitch, that pretty much kills the option, if you can't bust up the middle. They had us figured out, plain and simple.

I don't see any firings over this game, but would not be surprised if coaching titles got shifted. I really think that firing is the wrong thing at this time. I think A&M needs some stability right now. You know, A&M still won 9 games this year.

That's my .02 worth.

They sure were the better team last night. It looked like we were out athleted, AND out coached.

The quarterback scenario is a question mark. I still am not sure that Mcgee was 100%, after that tooth rattler hit he took before the end of the half. He CAN throw, though you couldn't tell it last night. My aggravation is when his primary receiver (he doesn't appear to look off) is covered, the play is essentially over. He DID find one last night, across the field. But normally, he scrambles outside, and throws it into the fourth row. Is that the QB's fault, the QB coach, or the OC?

Hard to say.

He did a great job in the Texas game and last night on 3rd down conversions.

It is just during the game, he seems off at times in his progressions.

this stuff about the deffense being good is a stretch. the defense has not exactly been lights out. take last night for example:(

Yep,

And again, without the A&M offense to keep the the ball away from the opposing offense, the A&M defensive weaknesses shown through.

The last two touchdowns, though they count the same, showed a very tired defense. To me, anyway.

Because they run the option when they have soooooooooooooo much talent to be sucessful in any other type of offense.
