Anyone know who will replace these important parts to SLC for 2007?

whoever that #5 was that went in for Russo is pretty good. He will be a fine replacement if he's not a senior. I honestly thought Russo was a little overrated, and I would know because he was man up on me about 80% of the time.

#5 is Brice Saldi, who had a really good year for us.

That guy had a motor on him. Very impressive. What year is he?

He is a senior. His brother is at TT. I'm not sure who is recruiting Brice.

You saw about 60% of Russo..He was hurt and finally had to come out late...

russo was hurting and eventually came out of the game, but great job anyways, contating russo is always a feat.
saldi is number 5, hes a senior though.
anyone wonder why saldi hasnt been playing as much as he did during regular season? just cause were not playing spread teams?
b/c saldi is not as "big" as some of our lineman, hes more just speed type player

Yeah, I actually kinda rolled into him the play he had to come out. I felt bad cause he was such a fierece competitor

Our DT replacements appear to be set with Robert Prigmore and Ben Carroll, who got extensive PT this year. Carroll had a sack last night.
As far as DE goes, several Carroll posters have suggested that freshman Jackson Richards could challenge for a spot.
Freshman kicker/LB Cade Foster probably has a good chance to start at LB.
Sophomore WR Josh Rake got some varsity experience this year. I think he returned a few punts in the playoffs. From the little I've seen of him, he looks small but very quick. Then there's freshman Mitchell Osbourne who people are raving about. Jared Freeman, a junior, got some PT in the regular season.
Cunningham will probably be starting opposite Brainard at outside WR.
As far as the coaching position is concerned, a Carroll poster in another thread said that Fossil Ridge coach Hal Wasson "WILL BE" the next head coach.

You guys looked like the Denver Broncos out there with all those cut blocks. I thought your line did a great job.

It's funny that you say that because before the game out coach was talking to an ex bronco lineman who said he loved to watch Westlake play because we play like the Broncos do.

By any chance do you know who that ex-Bronco was? Being a Broncos fan, I might be familiar with him.

No, sorry, I can't remember his name. My coach said he was a smaller guy who went to UT with him.

It could have been guard Dan Neil, who went to UT. He's 33-years-old, so if your coach is around that age, then that's probably him.

who knows about tdodge but for the others...
the lb's will be hurt next year with padron and shrum leaving. tomlin will still be there and stolztman will be a starter next year, possibly middle lb.
prigmore, moses, and beall will return on the defensive line. whether they have starting jobs will have to be determined later.
even with anthony leaving at wr, we'll have plenty of returning depth with cantu, cunningham, brainard, freeman, and gray all returning next year. on the defensive side of the ball, anderson, maynard, and murphy coming back. there will be plenty of holes to fill.

Thats what I was thinking about Wasson. Anyone see him on FSN Pre-game? Tons of SLC comments. He'll be there next year

Yeah, I think that's exactly how old he is and that name sounds familiar.

I could be wrong, but I've heard Neil works for a sports radio channel in Austin now, with his own sports talk show.

SLC Fan,
Thanks for this analysis for next year. Can you tell I'm already excited about 2007?

im so stoked.
im insanely curious about riley. i wonder if his dad not being coach on the sidelines yelling/encouraging him, etc will make him better, worse, or same.
plus itd be a lot different seeing Todd Dodge on the sidelines with the "helmet crew"

Yeah Dan Neil is on 1530 ESPN radio in the afternoons from 3-7pm, he was the sideline reporter for the Westlake play by play for the game.
Riley Dodge looked like he could do some encouraging from the sidelines, like last night after SLC scored their last touchdown and then WL started driving down the field, he was caught on the big screen screaming come on play with some heart at the defense!!!

As an important aside: congratulations to you and your entire Westlake team for your performance yesterday. You guys gave the Dragon fans a real scare in that first half and kept coming back in the second. All in all, a great 5A championship game.

It would make sense for Hal Wasson to step in. Carroll needs someone that was under Dodge as an OC to come in and run the system. The system in place obviously works, we just need someone to step in to be the field general and direct traffic. Wasson seems to be a pretty composed individual from what I saw on the post-game stuff. If Hal does come here I will be pseudosurprised since he seems to have a good thing going with Fossil Ridge.
Now if we are thinking Hal is going to be the next HC since he was on Fox Sports, does that mean Dane Johnson is going to be our next DC? He was at the game last night and was doing the High School Scoreboard for Fox Sports last week.
Regardless, what a game last night. We got back to Plano at 5:05am Sunday morning.

W/O it being a HC role I dont see Dane leaving Hebron. Even for his alma mater.
