I saw him against Garland and he was the difference (7 points) in the game. Garland played thier A game, and matched well across the board, except for one long run by Cole. He is fast, yes, but more than that, he is quick. Quick to the holes, and changing directions, etc. He is right there with McNiel, Young, and Benson in High School. IMO:eek:

i agree with your estimation as a pure qb, but let's be real. the kid now has 16 starts at qb, arguably the hardest position to master. he made a pretty good cy-fair team look like (non)-tackling dummies. we aren't trying to extrapolate into his or any others' college careers, only this years remarkable performance. it was everything reggie ever did and maybe a little more. i love rd, but wc should have been the poy, unanimously, imo.

"he's the best player in Texas!" - very emphatically, almost spitting it out.

We can talk about a bad Cy Falls defense, however they limited Katy to close to 17pts below their season average and before the game all the Houston and SA folks felt that Cy Falls would be too much for Cedar Hill. Cole did to Cy Falls what he did to a lot of teams and that is make a good defense or a good team look silly.

The whole team quality and indivdual performance were huge in why Cole was successfull. He did something those others didnt and that was go undefeated. He was a leader for his team and guided them to comeback wins over Garland and DeSoto. As I stated above, he should be remembered as one of the most explosive players we have ever seen. He was and did it all year long. I personally think he is every bit the athlete that John Chiles is. But that is my own opinin of course.

Stiggers, "VY", Benson and McNeal were targeted as Juniors, in HS. There was no secret and no hiding the fact. They were the stars that had to be shut down. By their Senior year, teams game-planned on trying to take them out of the game EVERY WEEK. (Starting with Week #1.)

I believe Cole's Senior yr ranks up there with the Senior years' of Stiggers, "VY", Benson and McNeal, but only to a point. The "New Kid on the Block" point! Not the entire HS career.

Lets not forget, Cedar Hill was as athletically loaded (if not more) - this year - as Midland Lee 98-00, Lufkin 01, Lake Highlands 95 and Madison HS 01, when the other mentioned players were attending school, respectively.

I give Cedar Hill and Cole their props, this yr. But to argue 1 super season of accomplishments against 3 or 4 yr-dynamic-careers, is going a bit overboard.

Yes, the only view we have of Cole is realy this years PLAYOFFS. But he had the ability to take over a game THIS Year, and get his team the championship, as much as some of the other greats. But you are right, the others did it for several years

I think that is exactly what has been brought to the table. To compare a season to a career IS apples and oranges.

On one hand...
Cole had an incredible HS senior campaign.

On the other hand...
Benson, Young and McNeal had incredible statistical HS careers.

I would define an admirable quality of a great career as "excellence over longevitiy". I would define an admirable quality of a great season as "excellence". Period.

Both are superb accomplishments.

In college, he's gonna have to out-run, out-catch and out-tough many athletes that were just as dominant - athletically - as he was, on the HS level. Everyone, on the college level, feel as if they were HS Gods, so they are destined to play on Sundays. It's called aspirations.

Reality is, where is Marcus Stiggers? How good was Ken Hall, in college? How about Odell James and Jerod Douglas? This game is full of the "once a generation athletes" that end up as Store Managers @ General Dollar.

We don't even know where he will play and/or project in College, let alone if he'll be a Superstar WR.

Mr one, When my folks and I watched Ceder Hills goal line stand against Garland, we talked about we had just seen a game for the ages. The last 45 seconds was desert. Cole was the difference. Otherwise there were two very good teams, head to head, toe to toe, smashmouth. But Cole was dominant. And was all through the playoffs. Ive seen the other greats, and seen some long ago ( if said something about some old great games Ive seen, some trash on this board wouldstart the Grandpa bit) I saw Secratariat win the Belmont, and got chill bumps, because I realized what I was seeing. Not saying Cole is like that but he was among the best I have seen. Seen all the recent greats. Coles ability to take over a game, puts him up there. BUT PLEASE REALIZE THATS MY OPINION. lol:eek:

I only saw Cole play once (the State Championship game) and his performance was outstanding! How he was omitted from even honorable mention All State is unbelievable. He is a class young man as well. I spoke to him after his game and during our wait for the Southlake game. I told him he was definitely deserving of state wide recognition. He told me it was no big deal and he was happy with winning state and the player of the game. He's All State in my book. Maybe not 1st team qb (there's a SLC kid who earned that) but Cole is a stud.

Cole is on the front of rivals football recruiting section. What are Cole's chances of going to Missouri and pairing up with Chase Daniel?? That would be exciting...plus SLC and Cedar hill then might be able to find some common ground rather than banting back in forth about the POY and the states best team.

I am one of those. I think Riley deserved to be named 1st state QB but what Cole did by dominating as an RB and stepping up for his team when he was needed to play QB deserves POY honors.

I was just making the point that people would have some common ground if Daniel and Cole were teamed up together.

Grayowl and I have something in common on this one.....age and experience. I too saw Secretariat run and got the same chillbumps. I saw Benson at Texas Stadium and saw a man against boys....same chillbumps. I saw Cole personally take his team to victory against my Owls. I left that game only able to think about the performance I just saw. I didn't even feel bad about losing because I knew what I had just seen, a performance for the ages.

Now, no, Cole doesn't have the career pedigree of a Benson, Campbell, Young, Dickerson, Sims, etc., but his season performance and playoff performance rank him among the greatest Texas HS football performers of all time.

Will he have their success in college or the pros......probabaly not....possibly....but probably not. However, his performance this season is pure, indisputable greatness.
