there is no one better than katy rec squad Fuda, Bobby Harris, eric Hightower, and even Anthony Martin will come on strong and all could be d-1 college prospects and the way it looks brandon king will be back at the slot again

Slow down there killer. The pass and catch game does look good at Katy right now, but lets give it some time.

WOW, that is a bold one, for a running team that finally has a couple of receivers, man , those are some big words. I think SLC's second group of rec would give them a good run. Ya, I did say 2nd group :D :D :D Just kidding before all the SLC bashers come out! It might be true though...........

I think it's great to get some of the Katy people flamin! We usually don't reach that point till later in the year...what a year it's going to be! We know Katy's gonna be good, Lufkin, Longview, Westfield, Trinity and a host of others also....We folks up here in Dragonland have always known those Katy WR's were better than our guys....

the rest of the state is awfully fortunate that kt still runs so much, or it'd be all over already.

REL hasn't seen the need to come out throwing yet, but I'll bet that Jonathon Williams(6'1" - 193), Jacob Amie(6'4" 223), and Tyler Fleet(6'2" - 205) will have something to say about that before the year's over! and to think that two of these are just juniors! When we open the offense up, their numbers will escalate.

i doubt katy wants to face the speed of lufkin ever again, and the receiving corps from SLC and Lufkin are both out of this world. I respect Katy tons, but they dont have the best corps

Not a single of Katy's receivers could be d-1. Some may have either the speed or the size, but none have both combined to play at the D1 level. Get your head out of the clouds man. Martin doesnt even play unless the 2s are in. After watching Katy vs Woodlands, I think you forgot to mention a key receiver in Sam Justice. Don't make foolish statements like this and embarress your program, Katy's receivers this year are probably one of the best overall groups at KATY in awhile, but that's not saying much. Katy isn't known for powerhouse receivers. 2 of Katy's best receivers are on the Defensive side of the ball at DB(#80 and #20)....SLC and Lufkin run this show

Guess those of us in Southlake will just have to settle for being #2 or #3 or perhaps have to go back to the wishbone.

hey I am just saying I think it is humorous how nobody else can have a stellar receiving core that can even come close to comparing to SLC and even funnier that an SLC backer feels it appropriate to question someone's college potential as a receiver - what receiver in SLC history are they basing this prediction on that has gone on to excel in college that I perhaps am not aware of.

Didn't you just make a comment about educated or something to that effect? Maybe you meant his brother Scott who was converted to tight end in Spring Ball and had 1 catch for 7 yards against the powerhouse Ball State in that tight game last week.

I saw this thread and hit the deck, lol. I knew the shots were coming. I think it's best to consider the source (obviously a Katy person, new to the board) before responding with personal attacks or long winded debates. That goes for any thread really. Everyone thinks their school is the best, but the newbies read the board once they're around a little while and starting contributing to some quality discussion (don't laugh).
Case and point...Scooter. Not to pick on him...but ;) ...Remember scooter when he first started posting? It was PA Titans for breakfast, lunch and dinner and now he's a semi-upstanding citizen :D of the 5A board and has even adopted a second team.

How on earth is it a ridiculous claim to say that Southlake has the best recieving corps in the state? This site itself said that it had arguably the greatest returning recieving corps. No one said that this is contestable with another team like Lufkin but no way a team like Katy's recievers even compare with SLC's. They are a run dominated team which works but the recievers there aren't at the same consistent level of SLC's. Scott was key to Iowa winning theier bowl game last year. So yes, there is a collegiate level reciever from Southlake who has an impact.

in the 2003 state game katy's wr's caught 2 tds and slc's
one....
in fact the zeiler kid from katy, (to small, too slow)
was the best reciever that day...
lufkin i haven't seen them in a state championship since reggie left

your disjointed, rambling argument, if that's what it is, proves i don't know what. the only player on the team from the 03 season is jacobsen, who's one of the best at his position in the state. at least many of the recruiters think so. i can't say anything about kt receivers. i'll leave that to people who know something about them. not you mind you, but someone.

Coaching is everything at the High School level. I don't follow the players after they leave High School (unless they are all world like Earl Campbell and Vince Young) but I think Katy sent some players from the '97 team to D1 schools. In fact someone told me that a player from the '97 team is playing in San Francisco at the pro level.

The Katy receiving corp could not hold our receivers jock straps. No Aston, no Katy offense.

Katy stats from 1st two weeks:
394 passing yards, 7 TDs
278 rushing yards, 2 TDs
Scores:
Katy 30, Woodlands 6
Katy 35, Jersey Village 7
Katy +52 points over opponents.
Sure, no offense there. Just keep thinking that :)

Those stats are good, but in no way prove that Katy has the best recievers. The blow to the Katy offense was uneccesary by DragonNation, but the truth is, we are not talking about the offense as a whole.
This is another worthless debate.

draginwatcher - I know it is difficult with that exemplary education from SLC but try to follow along and read all the posts if you are going to jump in. I never said it was ridiculous to claim you had the best receivers in the state - I actually commend your receivers and might even agree with you - the comment reads that I spew to cover the vomi i.e. mcelroy is a god - etc.. or slc has the #2 rated deep snapper in the country....

Katy's not a run 'n shoot offense. Any team with a spread offense is usuallly going to be receiver heavy. Our receivers are getting open and catching the ball but more importantly the QB is finding the open guy. I would rather be balanced with a good running game and decent passing attack which seems to be the only way to beat SLC. Keep their offense off the field. It seems kinda precarious trying to keep up with SLC or Lufkin in a passing score-athon.
I knew we were gonna catch flak with this thread!!

But Dez Bryant, and EJ Shankle (i think he will move to wr in college) will have a more successful pro career than McKay Jacobsen and Clint Renfro IMO. They havent done anything yet because they dont have a Chase Daniels or a Greg McElroy. Trust me, the qb makes a huge difference.

What is this proving. I never said SLC didnt have a better offense than Katy, if i did quote me. I simply said your not making a very good case that Katy has no offense without James Aston. Just because they arent throwing for 350 yards a game, and they are instead throwing for 200 yards a game doesnt mean they dont have an offense. Just because they are rushing for just under 140 yards a game and not 225 doesnt mean they dont have an offense. Those games are still very productive offensive games. Get over yourself SLC13

Katy plays the style that works best for them and their personnel. I'm sure if they switched to a more open offense, they would put high quality kids at the positions, as they do now. this thread is producing open ended speculation that is unprovable at this point....there are a lot of good teams and the playoffs, as usual, will be exciting...
