I know it's late in the week but thoughts on this game? IMO, if the Eagles show up with the attitude and focus they had at the Katy game they will do just fine. I know Cedar Hill has some great stats and athletes - 2600 yards rushing for a QB?? That's insane!! Raffield will have the Eagles ready for everything that comes their way just as they have done all through the playoffs. Defense has just gotten better and better each passing week - last week they were simply phenomenal in their quest. The offense got over the 1st half jitters (or maybe it was just the coming down phase of the Katy game:p ) and played great the second half. Take out the mental errors (penalties/fumbles) and they will win the game if they play like that - play like they want it which we all know they do....as do we!!

I have not seen CyFalls, so it will be hard for me to make a prediction on this game. I have seen CH and can tell you they are loaded with size and speed. Cole is a dangerous weapon and he will touch the ball every offensive play for the Longhorns. They also have great speed at receiver and RB and are alwasy a threat for that big play.
Their defense is very good. They are big up front and fast in the backfield. They proved last week that they could overcome adversity by erasing a 14 pt defecit. Too me they are a team on a mission and seemed destained to bring home the trophy to south Dallas county.

Farmerfan, that could easily be Cy Falls you are talking about - this is going to be a very even field in this game IMO. Should be exciting with all of those offensive AND defensive weapons on the field. I'm just glad that we played there last weekend, got a feel for the turf and the building itself which, half full last weekend was a bit intimidating - can't wait to see what it's like with a lot more fans!! I'll be completely deaf by the end!!

Well we did have a lot of penalties but those will be reined in this week - I'm sure that is now out of their systems.
BTW - that MacArthur drill team was the BEST I've seen in years - WHAT fun they were having. I wanted to take my pom poms over there and join in the fun!! They were awesome:)

Good Lord! I was amazed at how the Eagles overcame so many freaking penalties. That was us against Smithson Valley.
As for our Brahmadoras, they're mostly unchallenged as one of the finest teams in the state.
Not exagerating - they place at least top 10 in Nationals almost every year. :D

I know you aren't exaggerating - they were great. Almost like a younger Rangerettes group. I just loved them...and that's coming from a former Drill teamer who's drill team was one of the top in the state back in the day!

People were bummed after the game, but our basketball team (not predicted to do too well this year) has knocked off playoff contenders Reagan and Judson in district play en route to a 3-0 district record.
It's a good year for Mac.

This game will come down to turnovers. Whoever makes the mistakes, will most likely come out on the losing end. Lets hope the refs let them play and don't get flag happy.
Falls is extremely focused and seem to be taking it as another game. Very businesslike. With all the talent they have faced this year, CH should be no surprise.

Good luck to your basketball team!! Sounds like you guys at Mac have some serious athletes! I ran into some Mac fans going into the game last week and we walked up the stairs with them and they were just the nicest people. I thought all of the Mac fans that i ran across were very classy indeed.

That's always good to hear from fans of opposing teams. I can't say the same about Cy Falls fans because I never spoke to one in person.
Good luck to the Eagles.

So true - I don't know much about Cedar Hill or their strength of schedule but we have had some huge games already - Cy Fair and Katy definitely come to mind. Both very formidable opponents for any team to play. The Katy game and the atmosphere from that game is pretty similar to what I imagine tomorrow to be like for the players......and fans! Play smart and as error free as possible and come home winners.

CH played DeSoto 2x this year who has as much talent as any team in the state on a year by year basis. They also played Hebron 2x this year and beat them decisively both times. Hebron was the defending 4A Div2 champ and finished 10-2. They also played Colleyville Heritage to open up the year and Heritage played for a regional championship in D1. Last week they played Garland who is a very good football team and were able to overcome an early 14 pt defeict to win by 7. So CH has not played a soft schedule by no means this year. I look forward to watching it.

I've seen Judson, Madison, Churchill, and MacArthur play basketball this year. Mac was definitely better than Judson. I have no doubt that you will be in the playoffs this year. Madison and Churchill are extremely good this year though. Madison is loaded with athletes and Churchill has a 7 footer with some other big posts and several good guards. If Mac can beat either one of those teams then they could be considered contenders to win Region 4 IMO.
Good luck to yall. It was a very impressive run in football for you, just sorry it had to end when it did.
I'm going for Cy Falls btw. Go Eages!

State semifinalists with a 12-3 final record is nothing to be sad about for us.
BTW, Mac is currently playing Churchill at Littleton Gym.

Can't give you info on Cedar Hill but I can give you a little on Falls.
Excellent speed and the defense on the back side keeps their containment. The secondary and LB's worked together well in their zone coverage. They did blow some coverages early (man to man) but really tighten it up as the game went on.
Offensively they will attack the zone coverage and their wr's do a great job of sitting in the gaps. Cedar Hill will have to play a tighter zone then Mac did or get pressure on the QB.
This is were Cedar Hill could cause problems for Cy Falls. Mac was able to get some turnovers on Falls and they all resulted from pressure on the QB. He doesn't like to take a sack or throw the ball away.
Falls speed was impressive and I don't know what type of offense Hill plays but if they run alot I like Falls. The d-line was big and shut down Mac's inside running game. Again their containment on the backside was very good to say the least. Falls win against Katy was no fluke and they deserve to be here.
This should be a great game.

This should be a great game.
One turnover was the result of a pass behind the line that resulted in an incomplete pass(fumble). One was a screen pass that is supposed to let the rush through, and one was a fumbled punt return. None of these were the result of too much pressure on Welch, or him not wanting to take a sack.

I am getting ready to leave for San Antonio (stopping in Katy for breakfast first!). Everyone send good vibes to San Antonio for the Cy Falls Golden Eagles to bring home some hardware!! I can't wait until 2:00!! Good luck to all four teams left - have safe trips and stay injury free:D

Borh of these teams are first timers in the Championship game. It may come down to who makes the fewest mistakes or it could be determined by which defense is able to make the critical stop. I expect an excellent game. Both teams deserve to be here.
For those of you who haven't seen Cedar Hill play try the Gridiron Films site. By the way, if you watch the video of the Cedar Hill - Garland game it certainly looks to me as though the Cedar Hill Quarterback steps out of the back of the end zone for a safety on the last play of the game.
It is very difficult to tell about teams until you actually see them on the field together. How is that for an obvious statement?

They came up against a very good opponent - anything can happen on any given day. There were things going on that many didn't know about that could have been affecting our play but there are no excuses here - Cedar Hill won and that Cole is just a great athlete. Cy Falls is still a very good team that beat some very good teams this season and had a wonderful run. There is really no reason for all the bad things being said about them on this board tonight. They aren't the first team to lose nor will they be the last. There is a lot of immaturity on this board tonight IMO.
Congrats Eagles - y'all are the best! #1 in our hearts and community!

You must not have been paying attention to them all year long. Plenty of post said it would depend on which team showed up for the game. The team that beat Cy Fair and Katy, or the team that lost to Jersery Village.

Yes, I guess we saw the team that lost to Jersey Village. I am just a bit disappointed having spent my Saturday afternoon watching a blow-out game, when my expectations were for much better. At least the D1 Game was worth watching for all 4 quarters.

I was disappointed to, but as you say the second game was a great one to watch.

Congrats on a great season for cy fair. you guys had a great season and broke through some barriers(beating katy for one.) which i feel will help your program later on.
I do not think that anyone had any severe injuries which is go and that ref was ok too!;)
Good luck to you in 2007.

I'm guessing that many don't see a difference in FAIR and FALLS:rolleyes: . I was called CyFairMom at one Katy game and everyone gasped and then looked at me! It was too funny. Actually, I see that as a compliment because I like both schools so it was no skin off my back...just humorous. It's not like it's my "real" name or anything;). Although I think I get called that more THAN my real name which seems to escape me at the moment!
