I am interested in everybody's opinion on where Lufkin will wind up after UIL re-alignment in 2006? I think they will wind up in a district with Huntsville, maybe Humble, and possibly Nacodoches if they move back up to 5A.

I have no "inside" information but from being on this board for the last year and what I've seen on here is Lufkin in a district that includes the Spring schools, Humble, and with New Caney moving up. I dont think Nacogdoches will be returning to 5A any time soon.

From what I've heard, this 2 year stink of Hunstville in 5A is it, that they will be back to 4A if enrollment don't increase by alignment.

From the conversations I have had with Coach Outlaw and a few others, he believes that in 2006 Lufkin will be moved into a district with Humble High, Humble Kingwood, the (new) Humble HS, New Caney and a couple of other schools. I am not sure about the Spring ISD schools, I have heard they will be moved back into the Conroe and Klein ISD district. Yes, Huntsville will be out and probably back to 4A, but Nacogdoches could be back to 5A in 2006, they are @ 1970 enrollment in 2005. Also, Nacogdoches could be the key to whether all the East Texas schools are re-united or not ( Longview, Tyler Lee, John Tyler and Lufkin), I would like to see that happen because we have over 60 years worth of tradition together.

We will just need to wait and see what the UIL does with everyone next February.

It sounds stupid but they had the same idea last re-alignment.

Well, back in the day Lufkin was in a district with Texarkana
right? Anything makes more sense than that.

I used to make those trips to Texarkana, no that didn't make sense back in those days for either for them or us.

too early to speculate --- but with 4 teams in playoffs ( 5A & 4A only ) --UIL is intent on having AT LEAST 8 teams per distrist --or 9 or 10 if need be --that may maen more 5A & 4 A schools -- so teams on 4A - 5A bubble may move up to 5A & 3A-4A buble may move to 4A

I would love to see Lufkin back in an all East Texas district.
Nothing against the current teams...I just like the old rivalries
better.

I heard today on smoaky.com that Nacogdoches will probably move back up to 5A next year. ( I wonder who their new coach will be ) So they may do the old ET district. TLee, JT, Long. Lufkin, Nacogdoches, plus 3 more teams.

Marshall has a 2005 enrollment of 1745, I don't know what has happen to their enrollment in the last 3 or 4 years.
