SA top ten week 1 (2nd week)

So with week one down and some teams having playeed twice as many game as others heres San Antonio (in no particular order)

You have to include the 2-0 teams

SV
Clemens
San Marcos
Mac
Marshall
Reagan

You might include these (see below)

Judson
Warren

That leaves two spots. Based on the way things work here at 5a.com I cant include any team that hasnt won a game. Madison, out. Churchill, out. Highlands, Jefferson, Holmes, Jay, Taft. Out, out, out, out, out.

Given the weighting of a loss here at 5a.com, no team with a loss should be included, which would silly. Which for this place would be appropriate. The top 10 in SA has only 6 teams.

So, because I'm using this list elsewhere, I'll violate 5a.com etiquitte and include some LOSERS. Judson and Warren are include because 1) Judson has one lose to a state rated team and 2) Warren has one lose to an undeafeted SA team (this Warren rule will be used to fill the other spots).

Roosevelt is included under the Warren Rule. Lost to undefeated Clemens.
Clark is in under the same rule. Lost to undefeated Mac.


So to this point we have 10.

We could leave it at that, but we would offend some people whose teams are not addressed above. Further analysis is required. 5a.com style.

If you include teams with a lose, you have to include all undefeated teams. OConnor, Del Rio and Lee are in. I repeat, Del Rio and Lee are in, Madison and Churchill are OUT.

Seguin lost to a 4A team. OUT. This is 5A.com!!!!!!!!!
Southwest lost to Lee and forced there inclusion above. OUT.
East Central beat Holmes and lost to Roosevelt and still no one cares about either one. East Central, out. Holmes, out.

So our revised top 6, no 10, is now 13. And I feel, I am getting the hang of this rating stuff, 5a style.

Then there were 10....But, with Lee no longer included, Southwest is IN with a 1-1 record (see reason for initial exclusion above). Madison is in because their one loss was to San Marcos. All 0-1 teams must now be reexamined.

Highlands lost to Harlendale. NO WAY.
Jefferson lost to Medina Valley. NOPE
Jay lost to Kerrville. Holmes lost to East Central. NO. NO.

Taft lost to Mac. IN.

Given: Reagan has about as much chance of a playoff berth as Madison does.

Conclusion: Reagan is OUT.

Given: Have Southwest on the list is abbbout as dumb as putting Lee on it.
Conclusion: Southwest is out.

11 left, I cant stand the excitement, who will it be?

Given: I told you where I went to school.
Conclusion: I'm at 5a.com, so I will NEVER remove my school from the list. I went through a lot to get them on there.

Given: I hate Mac.
Conclusion: Surprise!!!!! Not being a true 5a.com'er I'm leaving them on the list.

Maybe not Del Rio or Lee but come on. Reagan beat Warren (who is on your list) and has a better record than Warren. Clark lost twice. And Taft is rebuilding as they showed with their loss againt mac.

It is still early, and you do have SV up there, so I am not bothered with it. I did not see your analysis about San Angelo Schools. I didnt think I had, but I might one day.. If I ever have, I would like for him to find it. I guess you can take my prior post as a semi-slam about the San Angelo teams. I was asking a question more than anything as to why the two teams there are being owned. I mean outscored 140+to 7. I grew up in Midland, and know the area. I was just curious. Central went far a couple of years back losing to Lamar in the playoffs and I thought they were getting on a roll. And Lakeview just got the Angelo State University offensive cord. as their head coach. I know him from the coaching school that they have and he is briliant in his phylosophy. I figured they would do better this year. They have not scored a TD yet. I was just curious, and now he says I slam teams, and try to get a lot of posts or something :confused: Really, put my post back to 0. Or if you really want Mad, I can get a new alias so I am back to 0, cause I really dont care about post count... :cool:

The point I was making in the first place is that other than the usual suspects (SV and Judson), it is going to be difficult to figure out at this who will come out where. Just look at the Gridiron Guide projected finishing order for the 26-5a. Can it still end that way? I happen think after one or two games...it still can. I was hoping to create a little discussion about some other teams in the area.

I still say Judson is #1 until they lose to somebody in SA. You can't say another team in SA is better than Judson until they beat Judson. The Rockets are 19-2 in district the last 3 years and haven't abdicated their throne yet.

i agree with you completely, but some will just point to the record to date...that was a tough lose to c cove and pville wont be easy. some of judsons 1st's may not have a full day the following week against lee and that could be good going into sv game. best of luck with all (except madison).

Rankings are rankings....and they will most likely change as they progess into the season.
