This is the first year in many years that I have followed high school football so please forgive my ignorance, but in several different threads I've heard people talking about preseason games. Are the high schools now playing preseason games, and if so how many do they play?

Are the high schools now playing preseason games, and if so how many do they play? I would guess that they're referring to "pre-district" games rather than actual "preseason" games. The only true "preseason" games are scrimmages, which mean absolutely nothing...unless you're from Longview. ;)

AKA - Non District games - we just call them preseason sometimes. They have been played as long as I have followed football.

I think the UIL limits schools to 10 real regular season contests total...

Yeah, 10 is the limit and there have been teams in the past that played more than 10.

Who's the leading candidate for the "Who can we beat in a scrimmage?" Bowl in 2007?:p

4A Hallsville of course. ;)
17-0 this past year.
If you want to see a team act like they won the Super Bowl after a scrimmage however, you should've seen what Pine Tree did after they beat Longview in a scrimmage back in 98 or 99.
