4A Div-II Quarterfinals: La Marque vs Texas City - Battle by the Bay, Part II
For the first time in their history, the Texas City Stingarees will play their hated cross-town rival, the La Marque High Cougars, in the Playoffs.

Texas City Stingarees
(10-3)
Led by the returning 2005 leading district rusher, Jarvis Carraway, Texas City has an offense that has forced 439 pts, and defensively allowed 223 pts. In the last 2 Playoff games they've scored 80 pts. They upset both (10-1) Dayton and a team that was favored by many to be State Finalists, in Brenham (11-1). Texas City's defense forced 7 turnovers, 4 coming in the form of interceptions. They made LSU bound QB, Jarrett Lee, look average.
Total Offensive Production: 4774 yds/56 tds
Offense avg's 366.4 yds per game and 37.1 pts.
Defense allows an avg of 221.4 yds per game (57 yds rushing) and 17 pts per game.

LB - Stephen Guyton (only 5'10 210 lbs...but he hits like a train.)
LB - Michael Ray = 2 ints (Both against LSU bound, Jarrett Lee.)
DE - Richard Wilburn (6'1 255 lbs.....explosive, powerful punisher, with 11 sacks.)
DT - Sean Warren = 7 sacks (313 lbs...Mini-Casey Hampton)
4 300-Pounders and 10 players 245 lbs and heavier. They have 7 players that run a 4.45 or better. The Stings also have 9 different offensive players with 1 td, or more. (4 WR's, 1 QB and 3 RB's) Their only lost came to Lake Travis, on a last second interception returned for a td. Their best win was against 5A Brenham (11-1), in which they won 45-35, last week.

Their offense has forced 443 pts, and the defensively has allowed 150 pts. Last week they beat Houston Yates 46-0.

Offense avg's 369.2 yds per game and 37.3 pts per game.
Defenisvely they've allowed 227 yds per game (63 rush yds) and 12 pts per game.

In closing....
This will be a very nasty game, folks. There aren't very many times when you'll see 2 DISTRICT-RIVAL teams meet 4 rounds deep in the playoffs. Both teams have gotten better, since they met nearly 6 weeks ago. Texas City seems to be playing on all cylinders, as they've reeled off 2 overly impressive wins against very tough opponents. La Marque seems to be riding the normal lure of itself, in believing they just cannot be stopped, if they play to their highest potential. Overall, there will be more than 6 Division-I prospects playing in this game.
