This Springdale, Ark team looks pretty dang good. I'm very impressed with Mustain and the WR-Damian Williams.

I see that Louisiana doesnt have a 2 week waiting rule for the New Orleans and Southern Louisiana transfers. A couple of them are playing after just a couple of days of practice.

ECA got 4 transfers from Southern Louisiana.

Halftime:

Springdale = 21
Evangel = 0

This Springdale is dang good and they have some great looking athletes.

lol, Texasfrog, did you see the 6'8" 340# tackle playing for Evangel from N.O. That kid was huge. Evangel is getting it handed to 'em. They may have their work cut out for them against L'view.

Looks like to me ECA could use some more transfers, they are losing 28-0 start of the 4th

Ya, I saw him. I cant believe his playing LT at Evangel with about 3 days of practice. That seems crazy to me.

Springdale looks very impressive to me. There is no doubt they would be a Top #6 Texas team if not higher. They have some great athletes and some solid coaching.

On one play.. ECA lost two of there better defensive players. One kid is out for the year (I'm 95% sure he tore his ACL) and the DT looks like he may have a severe shoulder or arm injury.

IMO if you move this Springdale team to Texas, you got them competing with Lufkin, Longview, Judson, Katy, SLC, and what not for a state championship.

Ya.. no doubt they're a top #6 Texas level team.

Same can be said about Oklahoma Jenks and Tulsa Union.

Their playing backups now. Very dominate team. ECA doesnt look as good as they usually are. They have some QB issues looks like. They (ECA) just havent had one of those powerhouse QB blue-chips like they used to.

Texas High has a chance to take it to them. (IMO).

They look somewhat like Southlake Carroll or Abilene of last year.

ECA may be down this year who knows?

I will reserve judgement until ECA plays the Texas schools.

I don't know how to respond to the ECA transfer thing and sound politically correct, but for some reason when I hear about Pastor's doing this or that for kids i think of those basketball factories and I just imagine them picking and choosing what displaced kids they take and asking certain ones to come there.

First.. I feel sorry for the kids. They've had their whole lives flipped upside down this past week.

Second. Your probably right about that. I'm sure ECA didnt take everyone that came knocking on the door. I could be wrong but doubt it. I'm sure they took the kids that look like they could be blue-chip quality. (At least for the football team).

I cant imagine that out of the probably 1,000 displaced High school players from Southern Louisiana that only 4 made their way to ECA.

Way more then 1,000. There were like 75,000+ college students displaced. I know my friend's private school in Dallas has gotten like 6 kids from the New Orleans area.

I don't think ECA is letting anybody play thats family isnt planning on hanging around the Shreveport area for the rest of the school year. That is the way I understood it to be anyway. I assure you that nobody from the school is going to any of the shelters "picking and choosing" whom they are going to let come to school based on football. Good God! Get real about it. They have 3 teams scheduled worth playing. The district, the playoffs, and the title are going to be a cakewalk. They are playing 1A now.

After sitting thru the 1st half, and listening to the second I have to say that ECA is having a serious "down" year. I'm still trying to figure out the QB situation. Putting a defensive player at QB with only 8 weeks of QB practice makes zero sense to me. I guess the coaches have something in mind, but it is beyond me. I was impressed with the first half of the 1st with ECA. The little "trick" plays were moving them down the field and could have worked. Then they just stopped. The defense never really made any adjustments at all to what Springdale was doing. The whole thing is rather odd. I just dont get it.

I guess the only real good that could come of the whole thing is that ECA will blow the first 3 and then just completely dominate 1A with 50-0 games and then the state morons will let them back into 5A. The state morons didnt have any issues with ECA until they tookover football in the state. Everybody was pretty much happy with ECA losing and happy with ECA dominating 1A and 3A. They really werent crapped all over until they went to 5A and took over.

Anyway, it's all water under the bridge at this point. It will either get better or it wont. Either way, ECA will be playing ball. Or playing "at" it based on saturdays game.

I'm not saying that Evangel recruited these kids.. I'm saying that these 4 kids seeked out Evangel. Heck, one of the kids mothers basically said that on tv. "She was advised to send her son to ECA."

My point is I'm sure that more then those 4 kids seeked out Evangel. But , only 4 were granted membershiip to the Evangel team. Something tells me that these 4 kids "Can play some football."

Those other kids probably couldnt.

What really happens at ECA is that pretty much any kid that wants to participate in any sport can. As long as they are willing to come to practice and all that. Nobody really ever gets "cut" unless they aren't willing to attend all practices and such. It is something I have never agreed with, but that is how they do it. That's why ECA will have like 20 freak'n cheerleaders and whatnot. As they year progresses, those numbers tend to get lower because the ones who dont really want to do the work and the ones who are benchwarmers quit the team.

I cant possibly imagine who would have advised a parent to send their child to ECA this year. I don't doubt that it happened though. I didnt really get to watch much tube over the weekend. It's just kind of stupid to advise a parent to send a kid to ECA when they are now a 1A school and arent playing anybody after the 1st 3. It's kind of bizarre really. I'll have to poke around and find out whom advised her to do that. That person needs their head checked. There are too many other teams in La. that are going to play this year where her kid could get "noticed".

Oh well. I guess if my kids were ball players and we suddenly didnt have a home/town/school/team I would try and get them in the best situation possible. Personally, I just don't think that is ECA right now.

Thanks for the newbit info though. I'll poke around and see what I can find on that.

According to her.. one of the local preachers from Shreveport advised her to send her son to ECA. His the big kid that played LT (6-6/290) kid.

I cant believe he was starting at LT for ECA after about 2 days of practice. To me that's crazy. LT for a passing team and 2 days of practice. Wow.

By the way.. I'm sure those other kids could of come to ECA and played. They would of just had to cough up the Cash. I'm sure those 4 new kids on the team aint paying for anything.

That Springdale team was so fast. Their defensive backs looked like linebackers... and they still had DB speed. The whole team was cut but lean and very fast..

They have a very impressive looking team. No doubt they could give some people in Texas some major headaches.

I would like to see some of the Texas powers play them to see how they match-up.

Their dominance may be coming to a end. The announcers kepts saying that a new High school in Springdale is about to be built and it was going to split alot of the players.

TexasFrog. Any kid from SouthLouisiana that wants to go to ECA currently is getting tuition free scholorship. The church (1st A/G S'port) are buying the uniforms for kids that choose ECA or any other school in the area. (lots of publics in s'port wear uniforms too)

My own personal feeling on this would because they want to get the student population up so they will be able to play in 2 or 3A next season. I haven't been told that though. But if it were me and my school and suddenly my town had all these "new" people, I would be getting them into my school however I could for that very reason.
We'll see how it turns out over the coming months. It is a mess all over shreveport. Everywhere they can fit a cot, they've got one. It is just to the point of being out of control..haha.. I was really pleased with the people of Ark-La-Tex giving so much. People are renting houses for people they have never met. Creating jobs for people. Loaning cars. ect... It is really nice to see people give a crap about one another for once.

Pack4life. The Springdale team is remarkable. They are good and they are fast. I dont think they are as fast (as a team) as DeLaSalle California a few years back, but I think they play better. They were fun to watch. I wish it hadn't been so hot out so we could have stayed for the whole game.

I heard (somewhere online) that this is the last year Springdale will be like it is. They are busting up the district there and making another school. If the new school can get the coaching staff it could provide a really good cross-town rivalry for NW Ark.

The situation honestly is so screwed up that we have to get these kids in school somewhere. Any kid that wants to play football should be allowed to play ASAP.

Yeah. The kids in La. already have a strike against them being edumicateded in there anyway. This thing has the whole bloom'n state in a whirl. I just hope that no more people will have to die because of this mess.

I agree, get 'em on the field. So far, I think the state morons have been pretty good about getting them in a school painlessly. And they did fix it so they could play ball if they wanted.

I'm talking football players. I'm imagining that there is about 1,000 displaced football players from Louisiana.

Probably a lot more than that. There's around 80 schools that were on the list of diaster parishes.

The big lineman that suited up for Evangel may have to go back to East St. John. Word is that ESJ was not damaged, even though they are located in a parish that was listed as a disaster.
