View Full Version : "What If's"

Now that the regular season is over, time to go back and think about the "what if's" through the year. Mine, obviously, is Oklahoma and Oregon. What if the call had not been blown? Would Oklahoma be in the mix for the National Title? (I don't think they would be in it, but still...)

What if we got a touchdown on 3rd and 2.. the two times we got that close. OK wouldn't be going to a BCS Bowl, A&M would have contended for it against Nebreska. Furthermore, Nebraska, if that game was not blown.. A&M would be a 1-loss team.. SCARY

That is hard to say.... seeing that there was still a good amount of time left in the game.

I know, you still set your team up for the win though. Really would have pushed OUs back against the wall the way the defense had been playing in the second half.. allowing only 3 pnts off a turnover in A&M territory. But this is the what if thread right? :p

BTW, Congrats on the OU win. I'm a fan of Stoops now.. after all that he and his program went through losing star players as well. Good end to the season with a BCS bid.

oh the what if's???

with the swat of a ball, a hand off to j train, and a defensive stand Texas A&M would be undefeated and pending on the big 12 championship game would be playing Ohio St. for the national championship....

then again we could be 5-7 with losses to Army, Tech, Kansas, OK St., Baylor, OU, and Nebraska

Wow, ok then.

what if OU had recruited all of the super players in the world and combined them and won every game this year.

No, the aggies have a point. They are 3 plays from undefeated and 4 plays from 5-7. Every game they played this year has come down to the wire.

OU also has a case because if Oregon had gone the other way, OU would be 12-1. They have played more ranked opponents than Florida or Michigan, and every ranked opponent they have played has been a road game (Oregon, Texas A&M, Missouri) or a neutral sight (Nebraska, Texas).

What if we would have scored on that 1st drive against Ohio St. instead of fumbling? What if they wouldn't have been idiots and manned up against Ted Ginn with under about 2 minutes to go before half?

What if Colt hadn't gotten hurt on that play against K. State?

No we beat ya'll and thus ur schedule would have looked a bit weaker considering how we took a down hill plunge

What if either WVU, Louisville or Rutgers were still undefeated?
What if Texas hadn't dropped 2 straight at the end of the season?
What if USC had beat UCLA?
What if Florida hadn't lost to Auburn?

We'd have a BCS mess for sure. There is a controversy this year, but the BCS is very lucky, it could've been a whole lot worse.

I got a major what if.

What if Billy Pittman doesn't fumble the ball at the OSU goal line at the beginning of the game or McCoy doesn't throw the early 2nd half interception. Those are 14 points we gave away, and 14 points we should have scored. Would have been 21-7 the other direction.

Think about that what if. UT outplayed OSU in every category except turnovers.

Then Texas still would have lost the last two games to unranked teams! Ha.

Maybe Mack would have had a win this year that meant something.

the refs hadn't f***ed Tech over vs. UT?

UT would be 8-4, Tech would be 8-4 and Tech would have been in the Alamo bowl sending UT to the Insight.

Gee lets see...

The blown 3rd down conversion that Filani had. (announcers said replay blew it)
The phantom incompletion where Filani caughtn the ball (announcers said the same)
the HORRENDOUS pass intereference call on Huffman where "sucker punch Sweed" PUSHED Huffman to the turf...

those are just a few.

In the words of Vince Lombardi "If you're good enough you don't have to worry about bad calls".

They happen dude...not just to your team...to every team. The thing is if your team is good enough...none of that matters.

And the HORRENDOUS PI call.....was not so HORRENDOUS.

The Big 12 head of officials was contacted by one of the commentators from TBS after the game, the Big 12 official said that the plays had been reviewed and the correct calls were made... The incompletion, according to college rules WAS an incompletion... In college, if you receive a pass, and at the same time are being taken down, you must control the ball all the way through the tackle for the completion to stand... If at any time the ball comes loose, it is incomplete... The same announcers you say said the calls were bad, the next week said exactly the opposite on national tv after the calls were explained by the head of officials... Most people don't know that rule because it is different for the pros...
