They look more Dominate than Southlake Carroll.

I would say they are looking like a very good dark horse to bet on... we will see what happens with LEE

Trinity made a Desoto team that beat Garland last night look bad. I saw that game, and have seen both of SLC's games. I will say this. Trinity looks to be playing as well as anyone in the state right now. I would put them in a group with GPNS, Longview, Lufkin, SLC, S.Westfield, and Katy. Tyler Lee is probably a notch down. Trinty vs. TL should be interesting.

Trinity's looking pretty good. Still got a long way in the season. Injuries and ect could make a difference in the long haul. But, after a couple of games there isnt any doubt in my mind their in the top #10 and have a real chance.

The Tyler lee vs Trinity game is going to tell me alot.

I gotta go with Lee....they seem like the only team with a Defense.....the rest of these teams so far are like the High School version of the Colts....you need SOME kind of defense to win it all.

As of right now Trinity is playing well enough that they could and probably would beat anyone in the state, but its early in the season. Its nice to see a running team put THAT MANY points on the board...maybe there is hope for my Razorbacks after all. When I saw the DeSoto score my jaw just dropped. I had them picked to win it all last year going into the playoffs and Div I is probably going to be weaker than Div II this year. My initial gut feeling is they are going to win state, but as others have stated its only week 1.

I dont know about that. No doubt their playing some bigtime ball. But, I wouldnt be so fast to claim they could walk over Katy, North Shore, Spring Westfield, Tyler Lee, Longview or Lufkin. I could probably throw another 4 or so teams in there also.

But, Trinity is up there and looking "great" early in the season. This Trinity vs Tyler Lee game is going to be a big guage for me.

If Trinity can shape up their defense and special teams, they can do great things this year... their offense is one of the best O's ive ever watched, and if they can continue to pound out those kind of numbers offensively, they can go all the way.

I think their offense is in high gear. I think the defense could use a little work. It's to early to tell. The game with Tyler Lee will say alot.

SLC has over 1100 yards in 2 games. SLC put up over 550 yards on Midland Lee last week and over 620 on Coppell last night. If Trinity can continue to put up the numbers that they did last night then they can claim to be a great contender.

I think Trinity has the talent to get to and win state this year. Obviously, there's a lot that has to happen but I've had a good feeling about this Trinity team since we first started gathering research for this year.

Last night at our game, the announcer at Maverick Stadium was giving score updates and he said "In the 3rd quarter, Midland Lee 49, Trinity 20" and our stands went crazy. I woke up this morning and was like what the hell when I saw the newspaper.

The announcer at Pennington would not stop talking... he always said at least 5 players that helpped with a tackle along with the blockers in the O line... too much info IMO... Just tell me who had the ball and who tackled him... thats sufficient...

Trinity and Bell each have different announcers for their games at Pennington. The Trinity announcer, I think is a student counselor at Harwood Junior High, which feeds into Trinity. He sounds monotonous and does give too much information. Our announcer is different and sounds much better and enthusiastic while still talking in a calm and relaxed voice.

I've would like to say, that the Trinity offense has already kicked it into high gear. Hopefully, they can continue to produce numbers like that week after week. In a tough district, and with another very tough opponent in Tyler Lee in Tyler on 9/16, the Trojans will have to have all phases of their game producing on all cylinders. We remember what happened in the state semi-final game and the offense was shut down by a very tough defense.
What is really exciting to note is that the Trojans have scored 109 points this year and the offensive starters have played the equivilent of just over ONE full game. Who knows what kind of statistics or points scoredTrinity could have if the starters played into the fourth qtr. My hat is off to coach Lineweaver for letting everyone play and not risking the health of players with such leads.
Against Desoto, the starting backs gave way after first series in second half, while Trevor simply handed off the remaining part of the game to second, third and fourth string players. Against Midland Lee last night, the starting offense gave way after the first series in the second half and having scored on 8 of 9 possessions for 63 pts. The kicking game recovered from the problems in the Desoto game with extra points. Heck with 8 attempts in just over a half, I would hope so.

I saw Trinity beat Tyler Lee last year. Granted they likely would have lost had Lee not had injuries, but this year's Trojans look much stronger on offense. It should be a good game. I heard one score at Maverick Stadium that had Trinity up big last night (must have missed the one BHS06 heard). I hope Katy can somehow get past NS and Westfield if they make it to Div. I and can see them play Trinity.

The playoffs are a couple months away and alot can happen. Just to answer a couple of you folks statements we have put up 1100 yards and 109 points. Our defense will get better. We face Moody, Evans, and Watkins back to back to back. We'll see after these games how the defense is. Again I say most of these teams have 1 running back that gets the job done. Both of our running backs Nance, and Handy are as close to equal as we have ever seen. Lineweaver has a hard decision folks week in and out to see who gets the ball.. From reading your reply's I can't remember seeing anyone with 2 backs they can talk about. Also I hope everyone is healthy when playoff time comes. I'm saying in the past teams that have played us keyed on one back. Try that this year and you might just get BIT!!!!

I still think depth remains a question.

Evans will be crushed by your Defense, Watkins, might do some damage, Moody wil be the toughest running back you face all year long in turms of size and strength and quickness, but I think you guys will be able to stop him

Getting a little testy there bhs06. I messed up the pecking order a little bit !!!! Didn't the kid playing for the cowboys get 500 yards plus on Bell??? Since it looks like you are so good on stats. I'm not predicting anything but that might be in jeopardy this year . If you have those 3 backs in a row and then our 2 it might be a long night!!!! :)

No he did not have 500 yards against our terrible team last year. It was 16-146 or something like that, it rained all game and we got murdered. But that was last year with our underacheiving, terrible, immature team that was one of the worst ever to represent our school, not only on the field but also off the field as well.

16-146? I know for a fact he ran for more then 146 yards, he had his two best runs of the season against y'all each for at least 40 yards each, he had argubly his best game ever against LD Bell...Dont make excuses because of the rain, we also played in the rain remember? You pretty much have it......Of the three playoff teams in each district the one with the largest enrollment goes D1, the other two go D2. The order that the teams finished in district standings has no bearing in determining who the D1 rep is.

In many years, that's why the D1 playoff road often appears easier. The D1 brackets generally have a good smattering of 2nd and 3rd place finishers along with a few heavy weights.

Oh no I wasn't making excuses, I was saying that he dominated us, 16-146 is not bad at all. Our team was underachieving last season and showed it against Coppell in general(first series of the game, deep TD pass to that reciever and our guys didn't even chase the reciever even though they had a chance to tackle him). Had it not been raining he would have done more, and he would have done more had we not ran the clock all game like our team did last year.

By the way, was the D-lineman you lined up against a Tongan?

bhs06

If Trinity went D2 last year they would have been gone in the first round.

This year's potential D1 table for the Trojans looks pretty easy. (Most likely) the 3rd place team out of 5-5A which isn't very strong, then a team(probably Duncanville) from a struggling 7-5A, and then a team from districts 1-4, most likely from 3 or 4, none of which in D1 are very strong. So they should have no problem reaching the semi finals in D1.

CC57: No I'm just a white person. It probably was #33 Charles Taufa on our team, who always talks at the line of scrimmage, he is a senior and played varsity some as a sophomore. I don't know anyone else who would do that from last years team being down that much besides Taufa. He is also injured until Week 3 because he tried to kick a ball while it was in the air before practice and came down with an ankle injury.

Longview and Lufking will not meet Trintiy in the playoffs. The enrollments are to small. However, if Trinity meets Tyler Lee in the playoffs the game will be played in Tyler, that is a huge advantage for the Raiders. I think Trinity has something special this year, and it is the teams with that special inicitive that seem to pull out the impossible. To beat Trinity, it is going to take a herculian effort, and I dont think anyone in the state has what it takes to go 4q's with the Trojans.

bhs06
09-06-2005, 09:49 PM
They would have faced either Denton Ryan or Southlake last year had they gone D2.

Here is Trinity's projected run through the D1 bracket:

Round 1: Probably against the 3rd place team out of 5-5A, which could be Keller, Haltom, Fossil Ridge or Colleyville. None of these teams can hang with the Trojans.

Round 2: Duncanville or one of the Plano Schools. Duncanville needs to get a move on if they want to compete with the Trojans like last season, which will be a lot tougher. None of the Plano schools have a chance.

Round 3: 95% sure it will be Summit or Midland Lee. We all know how their game vs. Midland Lee went and I don't see it changing. Summit looked bad offensively against SGP and great defensively, although SGP's offense isn't that great. Summit isn't as good as it was last year so I don't think they have a chance.

Semis: Best chances are to be The Woodlands, Tyler Lee, or Garland. Trinity beat DeSoto by 40 points and Garland lost to DeSoto, so probably not Garland. The Woodlands have looked bad so far and doesn't seem to be a favorite. Tyler Lee may or may not, we will find out September 16

Championship: Best chances are Westfield, North Shore, and Judson. I do think these teams all can beat Trinity, but Trinity can also beat all of them too.
