so like half of the kids that started in the district made the list. This is just as bad as 4 teams in the playoffs. Keep watering it down, because we have no losers here. here kid, take this "participation" medal.
I did like the co-coaches of the year though. great years from both of those clubs, with bright futures.

More of them should have made the 1st team this year on the Defensive side.

be satisfied, it never gets better...
when 22 kids, kicker, and a punter should be chosen for first team, yeah I dispute the validity of a list that has about 45, depending how you assess the listing of the MVPs.
BTW I guess you skipped past where I complemented the choice for coach of the year. Pretty convenient to your discussion though.
leave me alone stalker...:D
That's the new response on here when somebody doesn't want to have a real discussion.
I am curious, how does my location affect anything I posted in this thread? Underlying issues for you against Lufkin, because I didn't mention them? My kids will go to Oak Ridge, so yes I do care about the district.

fun fair positive football boys...everyone is a winner. no competition is allowed and score should not be kept.

The nature of this post pretty much says everything about who you are and no longer necessitates a response in future. And don't think that people don't know it. Have a nice life (if ever you find one).

You're complaining about people acting childish on this message board? Have you read a lot of the posts of some of the most prolific posters? I'm sorry. But I will always say something when somebody repeatedly belittles the efforts of the young men and women who represent our high schools both on the playing field and other places. Did you happen to read the post I was responding to? I apologize. Perhaps, the last statement was harsh. Like you say, it's smack talk on a message board. I got carried away. I'm sure the individual concerned is a pretty decent guy.

What makes you think a kicker or punter shouldn't be chosen for first team?

quote me, and I will apologize. I belittled no player on this thread or any other, unless it's a pro or college and that's a completely different animal. You're the one who became offensive and told me to move to east Texas( I thought that is already where I was, but anyway...)
my point was about having 45 players making first team all district. I said nothing about their effort.
Don't get pissy because I said something logical.

yep it does sum me up pretty well. I am sarcastic, yet truthful. i think 45 kids is too many to be "first team all district" because of the reasons I listed above. If you disagree, tell me why.
The other comments are tongue in cheek and that's why the smily face is on it.
Does all this stem from the Coach Outlaw thread, because nobody mentioned East Texas on here until you did?
You are a passsionate fan, supportive of your kids and their schools. You don't need my endorsement to know those things are honorable and good. I am the same thing. If you don't like discussing different points of view, I guess the newspaper or TV would be safe. You bring alot to the table, but you're just out in left field on this one.

Yeah I am, and I had no business lashing out at you that way. The last thing I want is to have any bad blood between me and any poster on this board. You are correct. It was an ill advised over reaction on my part. Like I said in a previous post, I'm quite sure you're a good guy and I should really respect your right to express your opinions regardless of how strongly I disagree with them. Please accept my apology and hopefully, we can put this behind us.

Oh, I read that wrong! Sorry! Ha! Ha! Everyone just seemed pissed off on this board so I just felt like pms'ing too! Ha! Ha! I don't know - I'm glad I don't have to pick - there's ALOT of talent out there that deserves recognition! :)

If you are the MVP...you can't be 1st team all-district. I seriously didn't know that.

first... i dont care about the "prolific" posters on this board...second, just because thy act that way doesnt require you to stoop to their level...if you complain about it and then make comments like that...its almost a lack of class. And yes, i did read the post...in those cases...just dignify them with a response

yea...it seems that way...for example, Kyle Drabek was All District MVP in baseball, All American, but was not found on the All District list...its only done so more kids get the chance to be on the all district team

sometimes the MVP aren't listed at the positions so more people make it. It's understood that they're the best at that position?

no, that's not the point. It's not the kids' fault
If you're naming first team at ACM, wouldn't it consist of 11 offensive and 11 defensive starters, as well as a punter and kicker?
I promise i wasn't trying to start anything...:o

once again I want to clear something up. I am sorry if it came accross this way, but I meant absolutely nothing derogatory(aggy- that means bad) about the kids/ young men who received these honors.
my comments were directed at the quantity( at least 45) of players that were named to the 1st team All-District. I would have said this about any other district as well, I just happen to be interested in this one.
Let's say you are Larry Allen(fictional), Senior OT for Oak Ridge. 5 others made first team as well. It is normal for 5 OLinemen to start. Are you one of the best 5 linemen in District 15-5A? This format does not answer that question, and therein lies the rub with me.
I also responded in my initial post in a very sarcastic way in response to certain folks in our society that wish there were no losers. These are the people who don't want to keep score in LL games, use purple pens( instead of red " OHH NO!!!!") in grading papers, and other rigamarole as to not hurt the "psyche" of the kids.
I, myself, am extremely competitive. I have 2 older brothers and we grew up competing at everything whether it was playing hoops in the driveway, chopping firewood the fastest/ or most, or anything 1 boy could best the other 2 in. Do you think I won everytime? No way, but it built my confidence when I did. Competition is something many of our young people( and adults) do not understand the value of. Obviously, most of the kids on the football field that we watch " get it." They have to, because it is too much work not to have fun at it.
I know I am preaching to the choir, as 2 of the posters who questioned me are both parents and passionate supporters of athletics. I apologize if you thought the post was aimed towards the kids. it absolutely was not.

I thought the selections were fair. Yes, there are way too many kids selected, but it goes with the territory these days. I would have picked Penson as defensive MVP, but I'm biased.
