Now Ike was not the team they us to be, but I have never seen a defense that is so quick and fast like Lufkin put on the field tonight. Those guys look like track stars, maybe it,s the new turf. They kept Ike,s qb on the run all night, these are by far the fastest linebackers and d- lineman that we have ever had. Now for the offense Dez Byrant is going to be a awesome player. Amazing catches tonight. Shankle,s blazing speed in the open was a thing of beauty. The offense can only get better as Clayborn made some great throws and some bad one too. It,s his first start so hopefully he will learn to throw it away when nothing there.

I got a feeling...I'll leave it at that.
Last time I had this feeling was in '01.

The 01 defense does not compare to this one!! It has not been a secret! Almost every ranking system has had them ranked as the best defense including this one. I told you if Outlaw said this one the fastest defense he has ever seen in hs football then you knew they were extremely fast. Can you imagine if Reggie had a chance to throw to these receivers?? The offense reminds me of the 01 offense in their gameplan. Very similar styles!!
The key that everybody is forgetting is that Lufkin is finally running the defense i have been screaming for forever. Lufkin still has had one of the best defenses in the state the last 4 years but they have never been an agressive blitzing defense that takes chances. With their speed and athleticisim i could never figure it out why they did not?? Made no sense?? Thank God the defensive coordinator changed his scheme. This defense is perfect for these kind of athletes. I mean that hardly blitzed every in a game and they blitz almost every play now. What did they have 8 sacks?? They have the speed and the secondary to take chances like that.

Congrats on your awesome defense. I realize I was not at the game. However, you did not face a high qaulity team. If this was against a legtimate team I would buy it, but I will have to wait until later on in the season.

Nobody is saying they are a good team but i know what i saw tonight. To hold any team to negative total yards for a whole freaking game is beyond impressive. The Panthers are not trying to impress Longview believe me!! Why would the panthers want to impress a team that was required to call the pack daddy for the last 6 years?? Really does that make any sense?? Congrats on your super bowl scrimmage game now move on. You saw how far that scrimmage win got you last year. I mean i just do not get these Lobo fans?? Does it hurt that bad?? I mean i would not dare talk stuff like that in a Lobo thread if my panthers had lost that many games to them recently. Just beyond my understanding??? I mean can you really believe this guy?? He just said he will wait and see and tell us if Lufkin is legit?? Is that just funny or does this dude have a severe mental illness?? How embarrassing is that?? For a Longview fan to tell a Lufkin fan that?? It is absolutely mind blowing. Please let us know when Lufkin is legit so they can prepare to beat you guys for the 10th time in a row.

OMG i just looked at the stats!!  I have never in my life seen this type of state before and i have watched a LOT of football. Get this!! Ike had 40 rushes for -27 yards!! Yes that is a negative in front of the 27!! So what did they average?? about -.5 per carry?? LOL I rarely feel sorry for a team that my team is playing but i actually started to feel some sympathy for these guys at the end of the game. Ike is a proud program!!

Did I say I wanted to be impressed? By the way, I did tell you congrats. You always get so defensive and attempt to be personal when responding to a Lobo post. Dude, I am aware that you have beat us several times in a row. I am not going to lie. The statistic of holding a team to negative total yardage is very impressive. On the other hand, dont get too hyped about a good defensive performance against a team that is lackluster. I did not say that I would wait to see if your team is legit. Because I'm sure they are, but I said that I would wait and see if they are as legit as you say that they are. You act as if they just played Southlake or something. Which Ike is far from them.
I did not even comment on the scrimmage because I know scrimmages dont mean anything. I never said that winning a scrimmage made me proud or anything of that matter. You always seem to misinterperate and get riled up when there is nothing to get riled up about. Future tip for ya pack: Take it easy, and calm down. It's just a game!

K thanks for the advice!! yawwwn!! I am well aware it is just a game but if i am going to respond to bs everytime. You just basically said you would tell us when Lufkin is legit?? I mean wow?? You act like this a new thing for Lufkin to blowout opponents?? This is a common occurence in today's hs football the last time i checked. Nobody said Ike was a power.

Exactly! It seems like they've always had the "bend but dont break" philosophy but tonight was totally different.
i know it sounds like we are comparing them to the '86 Bears but that D is going to make a lot of "legitimate" teams look very bad.

Yeah boots they completely changed their scheme!! I heard Quick's interview this summer on the radio and that is when he stated that they were completely changing their style to take advantage of their athletes by being severly aggressive. I was thrilled when i heard that because i have been waiting for that for years. Never understood the philosophy before. Do not get me wrong the d was still very very good but i did not think they could reach its full potential in that style of defense that slower less athletic defenses use. Aggressive blitzing defense is not for everyone. If you not have the talent, speed, and athleticisim you can get torched. This defense is perfect for that type of style. I know it is early and Lufkin beat one mediocre to average team so i am not going to get ahead of myself. But i know this and i said it all along that this defense has a chance to be the best in Lufkin history and one of the best all time in hs and i am not kidding. It all depends on injuries on how much the offense can help out with time management. This defense looks to be for real and i think they will live up to all of the pre season hype. Long Long season to go though.

I didnt hear that interview but the change in philosophy is great. With the team speed Lufkin always has and the fact we are usually a little undersized it doesnt make any sense for them to lay back on their heels and let teams come to them. Im not ready to start talking championships because there is a long way to go but its going to be fun watching this team.
The LB"s were timing those blitzes and shooting those gaps so fast they were in the backfield before Ike knew what hit them. I never felt like Ike was a threat to get a first down much less a touchdown and I know they are not a powerhouse but they are not the Huntington Red Devils either.(well actually Huntington's 2-0) I think by the 2nd qtr Ike's O didnt really want to take the field. They were absolutely getting lit up.

Yes guys like I said , Ike was no big opponent, but that speed on defense is going to be there every game. That Longview guy is just talking , and we hope they have a good season also. Minus yardage is a rare thing in football so you got to be proud of a team can be that domimnant. Longview guy we got a long way to go, but we will do this thing one game at a time, and in week 16 we hope to be there, that is the goal...........

There are several things to take away from last nights game.
1) Ike knows how to run the option.
2) Ike has good athletes.
Having said that Lufkin's defensive speed speaks for itself when the quarterback barely has time to get in the backfield to start the option. Also, he had very little time to drop back forget about setting up to pass. Not to mention our second and third stringers held them!
I know we won't shut out everyone and we may not hold anyone else to negative yardage, but last night's showing was impressive all the way around.
I have watched high school football since 1973, not just in Lufkin but all over the state and I have never seen a defense so destructive as I saw last night. Don't let any one tell you any different because Ike had some serious athletes on the field last night. Huge lineman and quick backs like they always do, those guys have a proud program and tradition down there and I have always respected them after the drumming they give us several years ago. For the first time ever I felt that if Lufkin did not back off some they were really going to hurt those (Ike) kids pretty bad. Thats a strange thing to say considering Lufkin was outsized pretty much everywhere on the field but it was just that one-sided. I hope the young man that was taken out by the ambulance is ok, even with the replay I never did see what happened to him.

I knew Pack 0808 would have trouble sleeping after last night - lol. His kids are waking him up right now and he's one grumpy dad.
I certainly also acknowledge Ike is not a powerhouse, but they're not a cellar dweller like Huntsville either - these kids will win some games.
Ike ran 49 plays for minus 7 yards - and they scored 21 points against A&M Consol. last week. Just let that sink in for a minute. They didn't even come close to scoring.
I'll reserve any ******** compliments for many weeks from now. But, yes, this is the fastest D I have personally ever seen. Mandella Roberts had 5 sacks in 2.5 quarters. Yes, that is sacks, not tackles. Lufkin's D is good, and they certainly have the potential to be one of the best ever. The injury bug can always hit and they did have one badly twisted knee last night - but it could be a great year for them.

Why are you so defensive pack? Man I agree, LP is legit but dang y'all just killed a sorry team y'all should've killed and some of you are saying this could be the best LP team ever. Longview209 is just saying wait till you face a real team to get excited. Y'all shuting them out is like me shuting my little cousin out in Blitz....not really a big deal. And why are you saying I am talking smack just b/c I am critical of LP's weak schedule?

Rclisle - most Lufkin faithful were nervous last night. Yes, we all agree - Ike is not the Ike of old - but they aren't dog meat either. With a 51-0 score, holding a team to minus yards - and some Lufkin faithful thinking the game would be close :o :o -- these are the types of posts you'll see for awhile. Many of us had trouble sleeping last night after seeing that type of game.
And, you'll hear some jawing too I guess from some - don't take it personally. Everybody here knows Longview is a huge obstacle this year to get out of ET.

I agree with you Cat on the kid taken off in the ambulance. I pray he is fine - I didn't hear what happened, but he was down a long while. When hs kids are moving that fast - freakish things can happen.
BTW - that was my one complaint. When a kid is down - you don't run commercials on the new scoreboard. Whoever was doing that needs to stop - that is embarrassing. Lufkin needs to follow the lead of other teams and take a knee when a kid is hurt bad.

I was told the Aldine kid had a possible broken leg. Randall Murphy sustained a sprained knee in the first half, he will be examined again on Monday to see how severe.
I thought the new replay system went well for the first go around, there are some tweaks and modifications that need to be made, it was a learning experience for all involved.
All of you guys saw the game the same as I did, Lufkin will be tough on defense this year. The offense has the tools to be great and made great strides last night. Eisenhower has plenty of speed and talent, their problem is they are not well coached or disiplined and have horrible special teams.
PA Memorial will be a little better test on the road next week. I don't see anyone matching our defense this year and if the offense ever finds the full throttle, watch out!

As a football fan first and as an E-Tex supporter here is what I took from the game.
Ike was nowhere near the caliber of Lufkin. Let's face it, they were not very good last night at all. I'm not saying they are completely a joke but I don't think their perfomance against Consol should even be considered. Now with that said, Lufkin made them look that bad. Defense was unbelievably good. Ike's QB was starting to think they had a guy in purple starting as RB. I still think Lufkin is a top 3 defense in the State and what sooo many people have been waiting to see is actually about to happen, meaning a fast, highly-aggressive defense that takes chances. That should scare the mess outta alot of other teams.
Last night's offensive performance worries me.... Yeah it worries me. While it looks great on paper, there was still LOTS of room for improvement. Claybon will be a fine QB but Lufkin still had alot of mental mistakes and truthfully the score should have been 80 something to zip. Running the ball was fine but Ike should have had several INTs and 2 really lucky bounces kept the ball on the Pack side. Listen to Outlaw this week, bet he says the same thing.
Special Teams- I really think Lufkin has the best kicker in the state. With Hewitt returning the ball on punts. Put EJ on returns.... forget about it!!!!!
Lastly, I was standing by Ike coaches after the game as they were putting pads on the buses. Overhear one say, "Yeah it's frustrating but did you really think Lufkin was going to be bad?". The other coach replied, "I know, but we were told they couldn't score."
Oh, one more thing...... Go Red Devils! LOL! They really need this little streak!

Lord, Huntington has beat 2 2a teams right?? They will not win again once they face 3a competition.
LOL Favpack i was tired this morning no doubt. Not to mention we do not have curtains up in this new house yet so it was daang bright at 6 or 7 am in my room this am. Been watching college football all day but i did go to the little panthers thing even though i did not want to because i was tired and my Iowa Hawks werre playing. LOL Marcus Raines is the nicest guy and he is just a good kid.I could not ask for a better big panther for my kids. He actually went to prom with my niece so i knew he would be from what i heard. Eric Taylor was not there so my other boys got to hang with Big Murph. I like him he seems like a real good guy!! He should only be out 2 weeks by the way. He is a plug in the middle and he is like the energizer bunny and the defense needs him. Dez has to be at least 6'2 or 6'3?? no way he is 6'1??
Ok rclisle you have to understand man?? Lufkin does not feel like they have to prove anything to anybody?? Lufkin's recent record and accomplishments speak for themselves!! when you have Longview fans coming in here telling you that they do not know if lp is legit yet like we need their approval or telling us that our schedule is weak like Lufkin does not normally hammer or beat good teams?? That is just irritating man!! Mind blowing actually!! It just makes you wonder why fans of a team that Lufkin has owned recently would have the nerve?? It just does make sense sorry!! I really do not know how many times we have to explain scrimmage game results?? I mean Lufkin has not won one in 5 years and look at the panthers record in the real games in that time span. It is obvious to any logical fan that the Panthers do not take scrimmage games seriously. That why i got a little frustrated because it is just crazy?? Lufkin is Lufkin and as long as Outlaw is here and they keep producing the athletes they have they will be one of the best in the state. Period!!
