good.
I think they should have gotten the word out, some people are going to be caught off guard. If they are going to that extreme they should just ban the sale of Tobacco products.

I haven't read the entire law, but I am willing to bet CPS could take your kids away after a number of accusations.

Good Lord, whwere was that law when I needed it?

Dad would crack the windows and I'd be sticking my mouth and nose up to the top like I was about to drown.

I had a teacher when he got mad at us he would close the windows and smoke those low tar cigerettes. That sucked.

Read it again. It appears to apply only to foster parents. And if so, how does the dps or cps know if the are foster kids driving down the road?

I am still trying to find the bill so I can read the language.

I'd be Surprised if it is as restrictive as interpreted here. It would have been BIG news during the last legislative session, don't you think? Or maybe they just buried it somewhere in a spending bill. Call your rep, I may call mine. A guy I graduated with is a State Senator from East Texas now. I could call him. This just seems to have come out of nowhere and when was the last session anyway? I know they got called back for a special this past Spring, right? That means this has been around a while since we only have legislative sessions every two years (YOU LISTENING WASHINGTON???? -- MAYBE YOU COULD DO LESS HARM THAT WAY!!!).

cause it makes too much money on the front end(taxes), even though we pay it back on the back end( medical costs)

Governmental restrictions are starting to get out of hand. Someone seriously needs to destroy the Patriot Act but that is a completely different story...

Some say it won't happen to powerfull of a loby and the tobacco growers would revolt.

I'm a smoker and I can tell you, I think every smoker knows it kills you. Most people start young and figure they'll just smoke for a while and quit. Doesn't work that way though. It's EXTREMELY hard to quit.

I also have three kids and don't smoke in my car or my house. Don't know if I agree with the government getting involved with what people do in their cars or houses though. Of course I haven't seen what the actual law would say though, so it may not be as intrusive as I'm thinking.

Oh please do. I read the foster parent part to and was disappointed. My ex smokes around our daughter and she and I both hate it. Not to mention she has breathing problems when around him. I WONDER WHY?

When will legislation finally negatively affect you? At what point do people stand up and say "That's enough"?

My point being, this is the greatest country in the world. Do we really need laws such as this one? If so, when will it become illegal to smoke in your house? If everyone is on the bandwagon of legalizing Marijuana, when will that become offensive to select few, and subsequently banned? How bout outlawing perfume, because a select few don't know how to wear it? That person is too fat, we had better enact legislation to limit their caloric intake. Football is too violent, we had better outlaw it. Alcohol is bad for you, so we are going to outlaw it. Cars kill people, we had better outlaw them. Where does it stop? Is there not personal responsibility anymore, so we have to make it a law?

The law seems silly to me. Yes, my Father smokes, and I lived to tell about it.

hahaha, does anyone know what my mom, the Pasadena police officer, would say about this?

"How the F am I supposed to enforce that?!" You can prove whether or not someone was smoking in their car. And anyone cited will have it thrown out in court.

I'm turing Libertarian. Govt needs to stop writing new laws. Live and let live.
