sv wins again now its only 2 down 15 to go 28-21 the boys on the way home right now probably a great game but again had to work.

Temple lost to Georgetown 29-20. I know SV won't show up in Temple next week thinking they have already won.

I would not get to excited their SV, from what I hear stat wise you got beat up pretty bad. I also know it doesn't matter a win is a win, but one of these days it will come back and bite you bet on it.

Haha, did I sound like I had no love? I sort of meant to say "keep up the good work". I told you all, if SV shows that they are good, I'll give them the respect. But until they beat Judson, they are still #2 to them....and I'm neither a fan of Judson or SV.

SV played horrible, and should have lost that game. I always say it, and I wont stop, SV caused some turnovers. They are coached to do so. It was not just pflugerville mistakes. However in doing so, SV let the RB gain too many yards. If you watch the film, you will see SV going for the ball and not the tackle. That has got to even out. They are suppose to wrap up, and then they are suppose to strip it. Did not happen last night. SV has got to pick up their game if they want to keep it up. Pflugerville has some talent thats for sure, and they are a great team. I think most of the backfield is headed to a D1 already, and the LB I know is. He stopped the run very well. I have another post about the stats, and why SV still gets wins, its they way they play. If you want to seach and find that. I just dont like stats to be used to determine how good a team is/was. It does not matter. Anyway, it was a very good game to watch, and SV is 2-0, and I am happy. I just wish Judson would have won. And nice job Reagan. Redskin, I guess you are happy.

Stat wise hmmmmm.Teams can go from one 20 yard line, to the other 20 yard line,and can throw up the stats.But.....The Team,that can show heart,and shut em down in the red zone,means far more than playing in the middle of the field.Not bad for loosing your starting QB in the 1st half ,until 56 seconds left in the half.Which means our all state wr was qb`ing before that.The first play Hill he gets sacked,and now theres 37 seconds left.He goes to the right and finds all stater Beyer for a 25yard TD.That made it 13-7 at the half.
We never gave the lead up after that.It went 21-7,then 21-14,to 28-14.Then the refs felt sorry for p-villes qb on 3rd and 30,(after barely getting up from a sack on 1st down) and called roughing the passer,for an automatic 1st down,then 2 more flags,and they were at the goal.They needed all 4 downs,to go one yard for a TD.That made it 28-21,which became the final.We beat them worse than the final score.So dont act like we were lucky.We went into their house and won.Thats no small feat.
Thats one revenge game we got back from last year.Another soon to come in Converse.
Easy there. The Rangers got a way to go, as far as improvement goes, before they can chalk up a win against the Rockets. The defense has to iron out some issues and some changes probubly will be made. SV will have a tough time playing Judson at home. I think they can win and I think they are the best team in the SA area (forget the number of rings...blah blah blah, speed...blah blah blah, last year's outcome...blah blah blah). This is a whole different season with different kids and so on. Rangers are 2-0 and Judson is 1-1. But that being said, it will be a hard fought battle, and whoever loses still could make a long playoff run. Can't wait, should be fun one to watch.

Sv has a lot of starters back from last years squad, they have a great coach and program, they beat a good team last week, I personally THINK they are better than Judson this year, I have a lot of respect for Judson, ALL SV fans are not like the two or three you are talking about on this board, I love 265a football. Can't we leave it at that?

Going to state 3 out of 4 years is VERY impressive. In my opinion, rankings, polls, last year, and "who's best" don't mean anything. What means everything is what happens when the "best" play the "best". There will be no proven #1 and #2 in SA until about 10:30-11:00 on Friday, September 30. We won't even have a comparison as to how Judson and SV compare until next Friday, when Judson plays Pflugerville.

Maybe my expectations were too high but I've actually been surprised that Smithson Valley hasn't been more impressive in their first two games. I thought the win over Westwood was good, but Westlake topped it this week. The win over Pflugerville is good as well, but the Panthers also had a lot more turnovers than SV it seems.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, or have my expectations too high, but I expected SV to be more "dominant" out of the gate given what I was hearing pre-season.
I guess all that matters in the end is that W/L record and right now SV is 2-0. I'm sure Coach Hill doesn't really care about style points.

To add to your though...The only W/L record that will matter we will not be counting for a couple of weeks! You can win all your non-district games, fail to make an appearance in your district, and where are you? 3-7, 4-6. That wont get you anywhere in the post season.

Your correct. Hill doesnt care about style points, and he does not care where SV is ranked. You are correct that SV did beat RR and that Westlake beat them worse. However that makes no difference, does it? As for the RR game, SV's headsets were screwed up and RR knew the plays SV was running. No its not an excuse, if you look at the score you will see that the problem was noticed at halftime. SV scores both quarters, but RR does not score once the 2nd half. This does not matter anyway, like you said, they got a win. Against Pflugerville SV did not play a great game. They were not wrapping up, and were trying to strip the ball from Cobb (as instructed due to Cobb's weakness of ball handling). However this became the primary objective instead of the tackle and it hurt them. SV also lost their QB during the game, and had to replace him with the best WR. This hurt not only the offense, but also the game plan. They got vary lucky that there were those turnovers, otherwise they may have got a L instead of the W. If you look at last year, SV almost beat the #1 team in the nation. They lost 2 games, one of them was to Pflugerville. So really, they are doing better early this year than they did last year. What does that mean come December? They always start slow, no matter how good of a team they have, or the hype of how good they are. Even if Pflugerville beats Judson, that does not mean that Judson will not beat SV. That week can go any way you like, but so can week 5. My expectations on SV were also high, but so far they have lived up to them knowing how SV goes during the season. They are right on key as far as I am concerned, even if it does not look like it on paper. I figured they would lose against Pflugerville. There are several young key players that are being pushed into the system, and they are doing very good so far. Each game they will get better and better (Rios, Hill, and the new center) The defense also has new LB's and a new corner, that are getting better and better. Will they make it to state again, I dont know. Are they doing as well as I expected, so far, they are. Sorry about the long post, but I just figured I had to give my opinion on this. Not that yours was wrong. I just had a slight difference there.

SV has an excellent program. No they have not won state and may not this year either. Judson is nothing more than a measuring stick to see where we are. District championships are nice but we want a ring and winning or losing to Judson will not matter unless we stink it up against the rest of the district. I will tell you now Judson will win just about every stat there is in the SV game. But they better not make a mistake on special teams or lay the ball on the ground or the ONE IMPORTANT STAT WILL BELONG TO SV. The scoreboard. That is all Hill cares about is the scoreboard at the end of the game.

Just look at SV's theme this year and that will fit PERFECT. Their theme is "Find A Way" Like in 02 when everyone was telling them that they would have to have patience to start winning in 5A, Hill came up with a theme of "Patience?" And they went to the state finals. One of the great things about Hill, always gets the kids pumped for the new season, I have a feeling they will find a way this year..
Only "stats" that really matter is the final score.

I guess not as bad as it looked, he got lit up! I say not that bad cause he came back in the game and threw a TD to Beyer. Last I saw it was a slight dislocation. He will be playing next week as long as practice goes OK

Yea, very solid point. I dont like to look that far ahead, but it sure would be nice. As for the theme, thats what it was in the locker room im sure.

I wanna let everyone in on a little SV secret here, SV wins games in the kicking game, they may have horrible stats on offense and horrible stats on defense, however, if they win the kicking game, they feel they can win a game. Theres a big board in the hallway of the fieldhouse that describes the kicking game goals. There are 3 parts, if SV can win 2 of those 3 parts, they feel that they will win the game. Not to mention recovering 5 turnovers helps too. SV will do their everything in their power to create big plays, but they will be damned if they fumble and lose the football or if they throw interceptions. Granted it can happen, they will do everything in their power to keep it from happening. Thats why SV may not look good on paper, i mean look at the SV-Clark game in the playoffs last year, Wilkerson alone had 500+ yds rushing on the rangers, but SV still beat them by 35+ points. Its not always the stats that determines the winner...

He was an excellent running back from Clark.....i believe he was one of the best from the city (of all time).........might've been top 10?
