I would be surprised. Plano East better figure out how to put together more drives and score more points than they did yesterday. I give them a lot of credit for the win, they definatly earned it. That being said, I would expect Westfield's offense to be better than what Lee displayed yesterday, and their defense will be ever bit as good. As we have seen the last 2 weeks, anything can happen, but I would be very surprised to see Westfield lose this one.

Thats a pretty bold statement to make when playing a team like westfield. It is great to have confidence in your team but its the third round and every team deserves to be where they are now, and all the flukes are out.
Should be a good game, but East will need to put together two halves because the games i saw they seem to slow down in the second half
About Keenan Robinson.....He is the real friggin deal gah him and Kindle will be monsters.

WF has been under rated all season. But its not about being under rated, its about putting your game face on and playing hard physical ball for four qtrs. If PE is ready to rumble, bring it on.

Yes thats a bold statement!!!...East will have to play alot better than that did against Tyler Lee to win this game...
Tyler Lee dominated in every statistic except the most important one. The Red Raiders had 17 first downs to Plano East's 6, racked up 367 total yards to Plano East's 246 and forced Plano East to punt 9 times. The 2 Lee turnovers hurt but hats off to East for the win...the W is all that counts and Lee didn't get it done...

Plano East started the 2nd half great then went too conservative. I hope the coaches figure this out or we will be playing from behind. The defense stepped it up and won this game for East in the second half, except for the bombs to #18. We had him covered but he just out jumped our secondary. He had to be at least 6'5".

Even if PE does upset WF, 1) I don't think it would be a surprise this yr. I mean after LP got knocked out I don't think much will suprise many! 2) Even though the rankings have kinda melted if PE does beat WF would it be that much of and upset??? #13 (well higher now if u take out all the teams that have already lost) beating #6 isn't really a huge upset!
So maxtor hypothetically speaking, If WF wins then what???

I'll make it simple. Westfield wins big. Why? Because Westfield is the better team. period. More stronger, faster and physical than Plano East. Defense wins championships. Westfield has the best defense. Oh and about the secondary, they're deadly. A very underated team in my opinion. That being said I predict the score 42-14 Westfield.:D Special teams will give westfield the edge and Defense will shut out the East.

WF is one of those quiet teams this year that has been putting opponents away easily. Except for one game, they they have been taking care of business as they need to. With all the upsets this year anything can happen but IMO they will roll over people. A showdown with SLC is looming for them.

No one has been able to stop WF running game this year(- the KF game)....personally I dont believe anyone is. There defense is very very good & fast...which i have been saying all year. This is a complete football team because they can score many ways... D, offense, special teams..u name it. Its going to be very difficult to stop them this year. As ive stated before, this is the best defense they have had since 2001 in my opinion.
And they will throw the ball.
No i have not seen Plano East this year, but i have checkd up on a few stats of theirs. They should b practicing very hard this week, it will take all they have.

This was a bold thread to start but it will take a bold East team to win this one. I feel it would take the whole team playing as a team along with much better offensive and defensive coaching and then a helping of luck to pull off the upset this would be. East seems to have moments of brilliance followed by a letdown of aggression and aggressive play calling.
To get to a Championship game is difficult when the culture of the school has no real championship "history and tradition" to guide it. I would love to think this years team could muster up that first time championship and win their way to a title game but it takes motivation and a hunger to get there.
I see East as an underdog in this one but I hope they pull off the upset and live to fight on another week.:D

Plano East has been toughening up mentally for weeks now. They've played the likes of their arch rivals, Plano, Allen, Rockwall and Tyler Lee all in a row. If you don't think this team will be ready to play, then think again.

Usually, with that amount of penalty yardage, there are quite a few majors, like unsportsman like, roughing, late hits, pass interference, ect.
What was Westfield's problem?

I have seen Westfield a grand total of 4 times this year.
Cyfalls Ranked #9 at the time
Westbrook- ranked 10th in the Houston area
klein- ranked
Memorial
Offense: They are very fast, while they may appear to be unable to pass THEY CAN. and they do it well.
Thier running game is probably the best in the state, with a killer 1-2 punch in stewart and walker.
Defense: VERY physical. Probably the most physical defense in the state, they are trying to knock your heads off. Which is the reason why thier is so many penalties. But trust me, they can still win with penalties
They are are a very good team. defensively they can hang with anyone. ANYONE.
here is a link to a site that has the entire Westbrook and WF game . Go to video archives and select the Westbrook vs. Westfield link. This will give you an idea on how they play. Out of all the games a watched this was thier worst night. 35-0 WF beat Westbrook.

One thing about westfield though, they are to physical at times. But they have always been that way (well for the last 5 years). We have payed them 3 times in three years and somthing that always sticks out is how extremely phsyical they are. It gets them introuble somtimes but it helps alot more then i think it hurts.

I love how some moron (dog will hunt) will come on here and make a statement based on a stat. Were you at the WF/Westwood game?
I know you weren't or you would not have made such a statement. If you would like another perspective go to the RR Westwood football site and see what they had to say. Here I'll save you the trouble!
"The Warriors played hard through injuries, turnovers and horrific officiating but came up short at Kyle Field. Congratulations to the players, coaches, trainers, parents and everyone else involved with the team. The team made great strides this year in turning around from a 2-8 record to reach the Area playoffs."
You see without being at the game you would not know that the officials called everything that happened. They called things that shouldn't have been called and missed things that should have been called. So do everyone a favor and save your self the embarrasment and don't make statements when you don't have a clue!

I would say turnovers killed Lee...but give credit to East D they made the goal line stand and forced the field goal...and also stopped Lee on the last drive...East is a big play team...at least when they played Lee they were...they can take it to the house anywhere on the field...Smalls the QB is great and fast...and he will be back next year too...
Another interesting LEE/EAST stat was East never converted a 3rd down the entire game...but as you can see stats don't really mean anything just points...

Have seen WF three times this year. A speedy offense will not hurt them. Their defense is suffocating to runs and punishing to passers and catchers.
They dont pass much but not because they cant...they just dont want to. All three of their backs...QB and two tail backs can score any time they have the ball. Dont know what PESH has, but they better bring their A game. Good luck to both.:)

Since we seem to be running 2 threads on this matchup, I copied this over...
After reviewing the Westfield game against the Woodlands... Westfield had a 20-14 lead midway through the 3rd period. No disrepect to the Woodlands, but I saw them against Lufkin and they did not look very good. I know Lufkin is a great team though.
Against the Woodlands, On the first play, Westfield scored on a 61 yard run. the Woodlands gave up a big play.
On Westfield's next drive, they went 50-yards (short field) and scored.
Westfield then blocked a punt, giving Westfield possession at The Woodlands' 16. They took 6 plays from the 16 yard line and scored on a fourth-and-goal from the 1 yard line.
This was a very good Westfield team taking advantage misplays by The Woodlands.
East will have to avoid these types of mistakes.
But I don't follow a few on this board who are saying Westfield will win by 30 and East has no chance.

Thanks for recommending the link.
I was somewhat concerned that Springfield would just be over powering to East, given 12-0, w/ all those shut-outs.
But I have some observations on the 1st 3 Qs of that game (score 28-0).
1. They don't travel well.
2. Offensively, their running game doesn't seem better than Berkner's, (I-formation v double wing though), and Berkner's QB is a far greater threat. They CERTAINLY are not better than Trinity. Allen's O-line is MUCH better. WFs running game is inferior to several teams I've seen this year.
3. Westbrook's D-line looks smaller than PESH's 4 man D-line. WF is running alot of between the tackle plays.
4. Westbrook uses their LBs to help in the middle (don't know if this is standard for them or a scheme to protect their middle). This is giving WF the corners if the D-end is blocked. PESH won't do this.
5. Defensively, WF is choosing either to cover the run or the pass by overplaying their choice. WF will have to play both against East. East is a complete spread offense w/ great speed and great explosion, by run or pass.
6. WB's QB is a getting his 1st extended time and is missing reads, over throwing open receivers and doesn't run. ALL 3 East QBs experienced and are a significant improvement over WB's.
7. WB is commiting alot of unforced errors, 3 red zone penetrations (one @ the 1 yrd line), 0 points.
I am not awe struck by Westfield. I saw at least 3 better teams in TS last Sat.
I was impressed by RB Stewart. He's the type of RB that East has had problems w/ this year, short, stocky and fast.
AND WF seems to do alot of hitting after the whistle and OB. I've seen 4 p-fouls called in 3 Qs.

But like i said before. This is the worst i had ever seen WF the entire season. The other games i saw they were much more physical on defense and thier Offense seemed to click on all cylinders. I gave you the link to the Website to show you the type of offense and defense they run, not to show you how good they were.
If you want an idea of the level they are at NOW. watch last years WF vs. North shore game... Thier alot of similarites on offense especially with stewarts preformance in that game. Defensively they are better then they were last year at this time. Trust me when im telling you this, THEY ARE BETTER THEN TRINITY. They dont have the utter size and strength that Trinity has(no one really does, they grow monsters up thier) But they are very big and they are very fast. watching that game will def show you at what LEVEL they are at as of now. This team in my opinion Defensively is head and sholders above last years squad. AND that my friend says alot.
Again let me be clear. The westbrook game was thier worst i have seen. They next time i watch them they were far more Dominant on Defense and thier offense seemed to be clicking. Yes they have to work for thier points, they arent gonna just bust out and score on you at any time on offense. But perhaps what makes this team so dangerous is that if you make a little mistake they turn it into a huge gain. they usually score after turnovers, no matter where they ball is at. They can score on D, Offense, or Speical teams. They will work hard for thier 30pts, but i think they get it.
35-14 prediction. WF goes into the half with a 14-7 lead, and then pulls away late in the 3rd.
PE will give them a game, no one doubts that. easy at this point is uncommon in the playoffs. But i think they will make the game look alot more onsided then it acutally will be.

Obviously, a lot of people are gonna be munching on crow after Saturday. :D Westfield is overwhelmingly difficult to score on and that's a proven fact. Their secondary is better than you may think they are. It's easy to say they're not good when you haven't even played them yet. Lufkin did the same thing with Round Rock and lost while doing it. Maybe East will hang in there until halftime but I know defense will be the deciding factor. Westfield wins this battle hands down.;)

dog,
I do get the calls that were made! most were honest calls some were nonsense, for instance the PF called against Westwood for hitting out of bounds (I believe this was in the 3rd qtr). The WF player was carried out of bounds by a Westwood defender and as the other Westwood defender hit them they were crossing the sidelines. Totally a bad call and was not a late hit.

Maybe, just maybe, Westbrook was the best team WF has faced this year. This during a no-matter, non-district game where WB didn't even start their (correct spelling) 1st team QB.
East has just busted out on teams and scored from anywhere, with anyone, on the field.

I think that it is the nature of the officials to review past games and give a team a reputation. Teams that get a "dirty rep" is hard to shake. The one WF game I saw on the internet showed several p-fouls by WF. Hard hitting is one thing, late hitting is another. SLC is one group of small, fast, hard hitting white boys, and I don't remember a late hit or OB p-foul on them (I've seen 6 of their games).

Westfield's defense will likely hold Plano's offense to 14 or less. The question is, can Plano's defense hold Westfield's offense to less than 14?

Two power running backs(Stewart, Walker) with a set of wide recievers(McGhee, Watson), deep secondary(Eta, Brown, Gates), bruising Linebackers(Sanders, Mitchell), speedy DB/PR(Forker), and a QB(Wynn) who's a big threat WHEN PROVOKED???  Oh and there's more to reload if anyone gets injured, so East you're in for a long day...
I'll be suprised if East scores 14 to tell you the truth. If they do, awesome. This is going to be a defensively dominated game in my opinion. That's where Westfield takes the bag. If they score early, this game will be ugly...
