Rowlett was ahead of a very good West team 27-7 at the half. Remember this name: Andre Pierce. 290 yard rushing. Darkhourse=Rowlett

ah oh here we go.

Rowlett makes the playoffs..... puts Garland back in DII facing one of the mesquite teams or the dreaded Longview.

No, Garland will be DI because it is the latgest school (If they make the playoffs). Probably to play Lee again at Williams.

What's the 4A limits, as far as the numbers of students? Isn't Lakeview getting close to becoming a 4A?

Rowlett is the largest school in our district. North Garland did not look good against Lake Highlands, but they never play the Wildcats well. Rowlett beat Plano West last year, too. I think their defense will keep them out of the playoffs again.

The cut of is around 2000. Lakeview had 4A numbers for several years and chose to stay in 5A. Carter has done that for years, and Kimbal did for a while. I think Carter is at around 1850. Lakeview is back up over 2000 now. Rowlett opening hurt them for a while.

Back in the 80's, Lakeview was below at times also. Homes Johnson, the AD in Garland has said he will always petition the UIL to keep our schools in 5A because it causes too much scheduling problems. Also, now that the GIUSD has it's own 7 team district, it's financially more feesable to keep the team competeing against each other, and, all it takes the next year is a little shuffling of the bus routing to adjust a school upwards a bit in enrolment under Garlands' "Choice-of-School" program.

I'm not saying that Rowlett doesn't deserve being watched, but ya'll already have them making the playoffs after a win! Baylor beat A&M last year but didn't go to a bowl because of it! (and I'm a Baylor fan) Occasionally a blind squirrel finds an acorn.

I thought there was absolutely no way that Rowlett would take this one, Plano West is looking like its down from last year(even though they did lose to Rowlett last year). Didn't Plano beat Rowlett 35-7 or was that rockwall, i get them confused.

Anyway, neither school is in my personal playoff picks, but they might sneak in there if their offenses are as high-powered as the numbers say.

raidercheerdad made a good point. Rowlett may look alright in non-district, but they will lose to the big 3 come district, I think.

Im a little confused about rowlett right now. They get blown out 35-7 then win this game against west that i was there to witness. I personally do not belive they will make the playoffs 1 because there defense was far from impressive. 2 the only reason they won that game was because plano west had a terribly slow and crappy defense that could not get any push on the line. Rowlett was blowing them off the ball 10 yards every play. When it comes down to it i just do not see them having all the pieces to make it at least i hope. North Garland has to many athletes to play this bad all year so i think they will regroup and idk about south either at this point. I guess if the qb gets more experience they will be fine.

By the way Jarred Norton is a mad man on defense....I mean he is all over the field making plays everywhere I was veeeeerrrry impressed with him

so I take it the game was a low mirror image of 1994?
