I am pulling for LaPorte because i picked them in pickem. I know CL had a great year last year going all the way to the state semis in div2 but didn't they lose a load including their stud qb that ran the wishbone so well??

I think its a pretty safe bet that Clear lake wins this one pretty easy. Though you always have to be ready as La Porte is not one to go down easily. It will be interesting to see how the react to the new coach. If he is able to build on what they did last year then they are definitely on the right road. And given they play in the very weak 23-5A along with my Mustangs they are definitely a dark horse for the third playoff spot.

Never say Never. How does that saying go - "..on any given Friday.." - (ok - I took some liberty with that)

Makes the Laporte vs. NS district game something to look forward to. It will be a big test for Laporte.

tailgater La Porte is always a game to look forward to. They usually hang with us a little longer than the Pasedena schools do. Though its usually over by half time or early third quarter.

BDC - It will be quite a game - I know Laporte travels well and expect the visitors side of GPISD stadium to be full.

It would be nice for once to see the visitors sude of GPISD stadium full. Only time I've ever seen it full is last year's game against The Woodlands and Homecoming. And most of that at Homecoming was the overflow from the home side.

Lake's special teams gave up 4 blocked kicks to LaPorte that made the difference in the outcome which prior to the 4th quarter never appeared to be in doubt. Lake actually had two nice TD passes...what a novel approach for the Falcons to score.

LaPorte blocked an extra point attempt in the first half, Lake would pay dearly for that one point. In the forth quarter with Lake up 34-14 and about 9:30 minutes left, LaPorte blocked a Lake field goal attempt that in a wierd twist, a la Leon Lett, was recovered by Lake at about the 10 yard line. Next play Gilmer gets stopped on the 1. Next play he fumbles the ball into the end zone and LaPorte recovers and takes over on the 20. The momentum swung to LaPorte as they made a nice drive to score with about 6:30 left for a 14 point swing.

Next possesion LaPorte blocks a Lake punt and recovers at about the Lake 20 and drives in for a quick score, making good use of their tight end who for most of the night was wide open and made some nice catches that hurt Lake. Next possesion, same problem...LaPorte gets the ball on the one and scores on a QB keeper. With the extra point they are up 35-34. Lake takes the kickoff with about 3 minutes left and procedes to try to pass their way to a score and throws an interception. LaPorte kept possesion and ran out the clock. Lake had a chance to get the ball back on a 3rd and long, but again, a nice pass play to the tight end sealed Lake's fate.

A disapointing loss, however, I was impressed with Lake's offense as it showed signs of being very productive. The defense played well but got put into some very bad situations at the end. The special team play is bothersome, as Flagator noted in his comments last week that they needed to improve. The good news is that it can be fixed.

In an improbable finish, LaPorte made the plays they needed to win the game. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on the victory.

very weird game a good game however . Lake is good no doubt about that La Porte made the plays to win , this is why teams get on the field to play one never knows who will win until they play.

watch out for La Porte defense might be a question but a team with confidense is very dangerous , lake will bounce back and win thier district and do well in the playoffs , this game was a great lesson to them they probally needed the loss

North Shore will win in la porte's district but when LP and NS meet up it might be interesting

I wouldn't give Lake the district yet. They are still turning the ball over to much and Gilmer is still making to many mistakes. Galveston Ball and Pearland will have a much tougher defense than Laporte.

With Clear Brook's starting back (Carlos Frank) out with a torn MCL, this opens the 3rd slot in district 24-5A for Clear Lake. Playing Pearland early makes it harder for Gilmer to mature into his spot before meeting them for district contention. That said, it looks like Pearland has no passing game which means its all about stopping Whitaker. Do that and you'll beat Pearland.
