In 13-5A we are supposed to lose WACO to 4A and gain Killeen(Ellison) that's all I've heard so far.

Waco Midway should be moving up to 5-A. I hope not.....but we'll see.
I think Harker Heights or Killeen Shoemaker may move back down to 4-A.

dryan down, hp up(historically unlikely), keller central up, northwest up, boswell down if new school has opened. other possible risers are hebron and birdville.

I think Harker Heights or Killeen Shoemaker may move back down to 4-A.Would be a shame to lose either one of those. Especially with what we would gain in return.

Oh......also it was approved in Bryan ...to build a new high school.........so, Bryan High and another school would be 4-A.

New Braunfels as of 1990:
1990 - 4A to 5A
1992 - 5A to 4A
1996 - 4A to 5A
2000 - 5A to 4A
2006 - 4A to 5A??
Who knows really, but all I know is that New Braunfels always comes within 50 or so students on either end of the 5A cutoff line in EVERY realignment. They are currently the 4th largest 4A in the state.

That wont' happen for several years. College Station has also bought land for a 2nd HS. It's approved as well.
There are major discussions in both towns about having one school house the 9th and 10th grades, the other school 11th and 12th grades.
Sophmores on JV would have to be "bussed" over, but that's about the extent of the logisitcs problems.
Proponents (especially those with freshman daughters!) talk about keeping the freshman girls away from the Jr and Sr boys. Sounds goofy unless you are a parent. Plus it would eliminate the need to duplicate the same classes at both schools. I'm sure there are negatives involved, but I like the idea.
Two high schools in bryan and two in CS would dilute our football programs and divide each town. At this point, we have a great rivalry between the Vikings and the Tigers. No one that I know wants to lose that.
I'd just hate the idea to have 4 local schools that were 3A.

By next district realignment, more than likely Leander will be 4a for the first time in god knows how long, and Vista Ridge will likely replace Leander. Vista Ridge just lost two 3a powerhouse ;) Hutto (thats right the hutto hippos lol) 55-0. This team is terrible. No talent, and no coaching equals alot of losses. It will be very ugly for them in a 5a district that playing temas like Pflugerville, CP, and RR McNeil.

With the transfers we are likely to get we're gonna be back in 5A. :(

Clemens will move down to 4a after this season. The funny thing is that our new HS (Steele) is now open with about 800 of what would have been Clemen's students and Clemens has about 1600 this year. With 1600 we will still be playing in the DIV1 playoff bracket!

I heard Waco and either Harker Heights or Shoemaker will go down to 4a and Gatesville will move up to 4a.

A lot of it depends on where the UIL puts the 5A cutoff at. If they raise the minimum for 5A (that has been the trend) Copperas Cove could end up in 4A. The are hovering around the current cutoff now.

Highland Park was 4 students away from 5A last time. They should move up.

With the influx of new kids at Carter and South Oak Cliff from Hutch and New Orleans, Carter will be a true 5A and SOC should be will be back in 5A.

What a coincidence. I bet they're about 4 away this time too!
