Name 5 Darkhorses that will make a deep run into the playoffs, possibly even win it all...but they will have, for an example, a 7-3 or 8-2 regular season record??

The Woodlands.....maybe even with 4 losses.

San Antonio Roosevelt
A team that could lose a non district game to Clemens and possibly lose District 26-5A games to Judson, Smithson Valley, Churchill, and/or Madison and could still make the playoffs depending on how the other teams in district play eachother and who loses to who.
Roosevelt making the playoffs with a 6-4 record would not surprise me and with that said, a possible deep playoff run could occur.
San Antonio Madison
Same situation as Roosevelt.
The Mavericks could lose 4 games this year, 3 in district and still possibly make the post season and go far.

I will say...
The Woodlands - Season Record: 8-2
(They'll lose 2 and upset 2...go 3 deep into the playoffs!)
South Garland - Season Record: 7-3
(They've lost once, and will lose to Garland and North Garland, but may make a run. Supposedly they have some good prospects on offense.)
Aldine Eisenhower - Season Record: 7-3
(It's not fair...they start out playing A&M and Lufkin...then got Mac in a few weeks. But always upset someone in the playoffs. Remember that Northshore team that was ranked #1 in 02', then got shocked by Eisenhower 38-37?:-))
Odessa Permian - Season Record: 8-2
(They'll shock Midland Lee and the Abilene schools, but lose a close one to Midland and Odessa High. But they'll get that Mojo magic working and advance 3 rounds into the playoffs.)
My last pick will come from district 6-5A. MacArthur, Nimitz, Coppell, Euless Trinity or South Grand Prarie. Which ever team finishes 7-3. They've set their schedules up for disaster. Each team plays at least 5 top ranked teams, in the regular season. (Who ever wins district may end up in the state final!)
There it is...what'cha think? :D

The Woodlands - Season Record: 8-2
(They'll lose 2 and upset 2...go 3 deep into the playoffs, until they meet Katy again!)
The Woodlands has the largest enrollment numbers in that district so they will go big school. Most likely with the chances of one of the large Alief schools making the playoffs Katy will go small school. Not much chance of a 2005 Katy Vs Woodlands rematch.

I think that you might be mistaken about IKE and MacArthur. It is Aldine MacArthur not Irving MacArthur. Aldine MacArthur hasn't had a good team since the mid 90s and I don't think it is going to change this year either.

No...there is an Irving MacArthur. And I meant to say Memorial, even though they will also play Aldine MacArthur. Memorial was decent last year. Nimitz as well.
It's weird...there's an Aldine and Irving....Nimitz and MacArthur!

It's not about thinking highly of myself...I set up a thread and would like to see peoples darkhorse answers....all of the sudden here comes all these post telling me how I don't know anything and how my answers (to my own thread) are ridiculus.
That's childish. I put down my opinion...I will respect theirs. I have to see an answer to the post and then call some stupid over it.

If we don't pick up any unity on the O-Line then we might not make it to the playoffs! If we do then I see us losing at least 4 - 5 games still. Rememeber, Drabek is NOT returning punts or kickoffs this year. Because of that our average starting position in the Katy game was the 8 to 10 yard line vs. the 40 last year. THAT WILL KILL YOU ON FIELD POSITION!!

As far as I know, only one LC player off of the '95 team played pro ball (and two, total).
To say this particular gentleman dominated HS ball might be putting it mildly.
As far as your darkhorses, I agree with you about SG (although, now that Tyrone Morrison is out for the year, SG might not have as much trouble with NG - I'm gonna see the Raiders tongiht. LH will give them a good test). SG has the talent to make some noise if they can get a break and miss Longview in the first round.
Permian may be a stretch. I'm not sure there is much left in the cupboard in Mojoland. Would make a fun story, though...

I plead the 5th, speaking about identities and such, but yes I agree SG might not have as much trouble with NG...but they've never been known for showing up in the big games. But then again, neither has NG. It's just my gut feeling.
I think the Permian season may a funny one, as well...then again they may shock everyone and act like their oldselves. The possibility is always there with that school.

SG has sure shown up against the Owls the last two years. Proir to that, GHS had won ten in a row against the Colonels. They did have a very tough time with the Raiders last year - it took a last minute TD to get them the win.
They laid an egg in playoff games against Carter and Mesquite, though.

Just don't finish 3rd in the district and you will prolly miss us(assuming we beat Lee...it will be tough). Thanks for the respect though. And by the way I don't want any of SG or G in the 1st round, y'all are both scary first rounders. I'll take NG...so let's make that happen. LOL

Duke,
I don't think your QB or your O line is as bad as you think. I know your O line is inexperienced but they were facing a tough defensive front in Katy. On the same note, your QB just didn't have a lot of time. When the O line settles in I think you guys will be just fine.

It's so crazy how NG and SG has become a more formitable force. Back in the mid 90's they were just warm bodies in jerseys and pads. If they finished 5-5 it was a darn good year.
NG had some solid squads in 91', 92', 93', though. But everybody beat SG! Times have definitely changed!! That's good!
Here's some trivia: What is the name of the all-state running back NG had in 91', 92'? :D

anyway back on topic, I think Irving has a chance to be a darkhorse team they could end up losing a couple of tough games to Coppell, Euless Trinity, they just have to beat slc sooner or later in the play-offs...

The Raiders and Colonels were very good in 1990 and 1991. NG won district both years (the Owls runied their perfect season in '90 with a stunning 45-21 win - they then lost to Tyler Lee the following week). SG, in '90, beat John Tyler and then lost in a thriller to Carter, 34-28, in one of the best HS games I've ever seen. NG and SG played a great game at HBJ in 1990, with NG pulling out a last second win on a Jason Parker to Bobby Whitt pass. The other great NG player I remember is Kendall Rhynes. I can't recall who their RB was. They were also rans in the mid 90's. SG really didn't come back to prominence until Mickey Moss got there in '02.
By the way, were you on the LC team that lost in the playoffs to Plano after an LC DB intercepted the ball then fumbled it back to Plano trying to lateral it?
I'll also take The Woodlands. (8-2) or (7-3).
They have lost to state contender Katy and will probably fall at Lufkin (another state contender). Both of these wil be in Div. II. I expect them to play North Shore tough with the outcome in doubt till the end. They could make a run to the Div. I finals.

OK here are my teams i guess
Seguin....Wont win district because of Clemens and San Marcos but may be able to get past 1st round and if they make it to the valley team could go all the way until they play SV.
Churchill....lost opener to marshall but still a deadly team there QB is 6"4" 220 and fast as hell good arm as well he is a D1 recruit and only a junior. If Churchilll figures it out they could go very far. 7-3 season losses to Marshall,Sv,Judson
Warren....over looked in there distict by marshall and o'connor but you never know they are a great defensive team.
thats all i can think of sorry.

...that LC DB you speak of is Donny Pierson, LC's future Super RB Chris Pierson's brother. That team highlighted DE Ryan Ross, OT Scott Carter and RB Ty Dorsey....and other great athletes!!!??? What a game, huh?
Anyways, I will not elaborate on identities and such....but I applaud your efforts. :D

I don't know which game to go see Saturday night...
Cy Springs 1-0 vs Klein Forest 1-0 (Klein's supposedly got this good RB Ty Robinson.)
Aldine 0-0 vs Madison 1-0
Pearland 1-0 vs Elkins 1-0 ( Pearland supposedly has this state ranked RB Whitaker and Elkins has this "Stud Arm" QB Sterling.)
Lamar 0-0 vs Yates 0-0
Judging last years records, and this years right-ups, a few of these schools might be darkhorses of the year. Which one should I go see? Better yet, which one would you guys go see?
