If we advance to the 3rd round, no matter which team we face (Trinity or SLC), we will play in Jones Stadium, Lubbock, 1PM Saturday December 2nd.

thanks for the heads up and best of luck to mojo. outside of Plano, metroplex teams have a horrible history of playing Permian out West.

Someone explain to me the logic in not playing in Abilene...

If it was a home/home toss, why the hell not just pick Odessa if you're gonna make ET/SLC drive that far... Good lord, that's ********...

Because Im sure they put up Odessa but Dodge informed him by putting up Ratliff he would not put up Tx Stadium but put up Dragon stadium.
Im sure there is a motive behind Coach Allmans madness. Permian has played many playoff games in Lubbock before.

Word is both the SLC and Trinity coaches agreed to use Texas Stadium as their home only if we agreed to somewhere other than Ratliff as our home. I presume Grande in Midland was already booked, pending the outcome of the Midland teams' games. So we chose Lubbock's Jones Stadium as our home venue.

Seems to me that SLC had a rather close game against L. Monterrey the last time they visited Lubbock. I am not sure if that was at Jones or Lowery that Saturday. Jones is one nice venue though.

The long term forecast calls for an arctic front coming in.

I do think we need to take care of Central first.

I concur with the location, assuming the game takes place. Are you sure about the time?

This will HOPEFULLY be two firsts for Carroll:

1) Playing in Jones Stadium
2) Playing Mojo. Now that will truly be cool - Permian vs Carroll. Two Texas dynasties meeting each other.

Hope we get to see this game.

They didnt want a neutral site, the Lubbock stadium was permian's "home" choice for a field just like texas stadium was slc and trinity's "home" field choice. Logically yes Abilene's Shotwell stadium wouldve been a midway point for the teams, but Permian was smart in choosing home and home because either way they'll be a huge underdog so why not try to get those metroplex teams to come out west and play. Not so easy when travelling for 6 hours on a bus to get out and play when its 20 degrees outside, should be interesting.

We'll volunteer to play Carroll or Trinity in Abilene!! We would be so thrilled to be back in the 3rd round again, we'd probably even pull a 2005 Abilene High move and AGREE to come to Texas Stadium:D

Actually Texas Stadium was not the home choice for Coach Dodge or Lineweaver. I know from recent history that if Coach Dodge is playing a West Texas team with a large enough stadium to put up as its home field then he will counter with putting up his home stadium. Last year Coach Warren from Abilene assumed that Dodge would put up Texas Stadium as its "home" choice. When he found out Dodge said if you put up Shotwell then I am putting up Dragon stadium in Southlake is when they agreed to meet in Waco. The same wiht Permian. Permian most likely assumed that Texas Stadium would be put up as the home choice for Trinity or Southlake but that was not the case. I think it is very smart on Lineweavers and Dodges part to do this.

It may be "smart", but is a disservice to the fans of both schools who want to go see their teams in the playoffs. Dragon stadium is way too small for a playoff venue.

As much as we wish it was about the fans, it isn't. Its about the kids and doing what is best to give your kids the best opportunity to win. For Permian if they couldnt have had Ratliff the next best thing would be Midland. Since Midland may be booked then take it up to Lubbock which is not a bad drive for their fans at all.
Dragon stadium may be to small for a venue but why should Dodge or Lineweaver not give their kids a opportunity to play at home of their opponent is putting up their home stadium?

SLC and Trinity both travel well but I doubt it would draw 30,000. When Plano went out to Odessa in 87 and 94 they did not sell out there side of the stadium and allowed the Permian fans to fill it up to make for the sell out. I think much would be the same with Carroll and Trinity. One needsto look no further than last years semis with Carroll as they did not send as many as we all thought out to SFA.

Yeah, but I don't know...at least SLC's players are only human-sized!!! :p

Seriously, though, it will be gut-check time with either team, though I am thinking SLC's pass-happy attack and normal-sized players might be somewhat more vulnerable to our D, especially if we do have some inclement weather also working with us, though it has a negative impact on our passing game as well....

Either way, it's a bit of picking your poisons....neither is real appealing to choose from, but it should be a helluva game either way!!

SLC's the kind of team that can look ahead--we can't; we've got to focus on SAC 1st. Like Mojotrain stated, we look great 1 qtr. & the next qtr., it looks like the boys' 1st yr. in fb. I'm sure we could make SLC work hard for a win, though, if we could play good fb for 4 qtrs. in one game--the boys & coaches are workin' on it.

Yeah, that game could draw 30k in Lub. If this matchup happens, it would be great for us--we would love to play a great fb prog. like SLC even if we don't have much chance of winning.
