looks like breakfast bowl number two for Allen. Winner will take on Lufkin or Round Rock. Who do you see coming out on top?

Yes...Texas Stadium, Saturday, 10:00 AM.

Allen has played Mesquite many times before (in previous seasons, of course). I'm sure both teams are looking forward to the game and perhaps an opportunity to take on Lufkin the next week. Of course, you never know...ole Round Rock proved they're a team to not take lightly, huh?

I don't want to underestimate any team. I know Mesquite beat Plano East, Carter both 8-2 and Abilene 6-4. They obviously have a good defense holding opponents to an average of 17.3 points per game.

I also see that in the games that they won they averaged 35.7 points per game. When the opponent has good defense and their defense is having a good game Mesquite has trouble.

So looking at a few of the key games I think these two teams will match up evenly. I think if Mesquite has a great day and Allen has a below average day Mesquite will win.

Outside of that I think Mesquite is going to have a very very hard time getting past Allen.

What do you all think? How does Mesquite get most of their yards? score most of their points?

Cheers

No. Kelly Page is done for the year unfortunately, but he will be back next year for his senior season. Mesquite has been rotating two QBs, sometimes on every other play. Sophomore Luke Halpin and Jeremy Hernandez have been splitting time at the QB spot. Luke has the better arm but Hernandez is dangerous when he runs. It should be a good game. I give Allen the edge, but Mesquite is definitely capable of winning this game.

Allen better look out for Hernandez. North Mesquite (who is not Allen) had no answer for him. Halpin being the coaches son probably knows the offense as well or better than his dad.

Lol, that's an understatement! :)

I thought for sure it was going to be WR Krys Buerck that burned us, but we did a decent job on him. I wonder who it will be next year? They seem to have our number as of late.

I read an article about him at DMN, he is dangerous. I hope we can prevent him from making too many big plays, whatever position he'll be playing.

I, for one, am NOT taking Mesquite for granted.

Especially not if Allen is going to show up with the attitude
they displayed last Saturday against Rowlett.

They were not mentally prepared for that contest. They were
able to get serious enough to win, but that won't be the case
THIS Saturday.

I hope they do.

The boys will be ready. It is tough to get up for an opponent that you previously had your way with. If it where Rockwall or Garland I think the boys would have been mentally focused and ready.

Not mentally prepared? The final score was 42-14. How much more mentally prepared did they need to be?

I think you mean they didn't stay focused when they thought the game was in hand. I will give you that...there were a couple of points in the game where it could have gotten dicey if they'd not had a 2 touchdown lead.

Not saying they're not right, but I don't give much credence to people sitting in California picking games in Texas.

The Skeeters beat East in the first game where we handed them like 9 turnovers and lost by a point. After seeing Allen put it on us I think the Skeeters will be eatin some turkey leftovers next weekend.

I got a stick with the 9-5A and say Eagles dominate this one 31 - 14

Funny how many folks keep saying that East handed the ball over to Mesquite 9 times. I was at that game and low and behold in some of those turnovers I think I actually did see one of the kids from East come over and hand the ball to Mesquite's offense. Yeah that's how it went, Mesquite's defense did nothing to cause any of those turnovers.

It will be a tough game for Mesquite. Good luck to both teams and hopefully it will be injury free.

LOL! I was at that game also, I recall Mesquite having a few turnovers themselves. It seemed like both teams were having problems holding on to the ball around the 30 yard line. What is funny is, I was watching I guess PE, play whoever, on channel 21 a week or so later, they were having the same problem, at the same stadium, on the same 30 yard line. (both teams) LOL.

has for Tyler Lee, I was at that game also. For some reason, our WR Krys Buerick wasn't playing. I don't know why. The fans were yelling for coach to put him in, but it just didn't happen. May have been a different out come. Who's to know.

Good luck Skeeters!

Mesquite beat Plano East period. Yes a bunch of turnovers did not help. I think the big factor in this game is NO Kelly Page. I remember watching him torch the East secondary.

No Kelly Page = Allen wins by 14.

I'm one of the biggest "homers" on this site.....that's why I don't post much on here. I love my team and think the world of all the kids on the team, but, I am a realist too. Allen could wipe the bottom of that nasty TS floor with us.....then again we could have a break out game and beat them. Anything can and will happen and that's why they play the game. So you see it doesn't really matter at this point who won what game against who. The only thing that matters right now is that any team in the playoffs at this point is 1-0.;)

GO SKEETERS!!!!!! STING THE EAGLES!!

Then you probably weren't paying very close attention.

He was in the game for the first couple of series then he
was called for a personal foul....kicking at a Lee defender
after a play.

He was a non-factor after that happened.

It's possible Coach Halpin didn't want his star WR to have
any further trouble in a game that was only for seeding....

Look for Mesquite to give Allen all they can handle.

exactly...I can guarantee that Mesquite will be in this game...if they give that Halpin kid time then this game will be nerve racking for Allen fans...Hernandez is a threat every time he is in the game...

I guess I wasn't paying very close attention. I didn't see that. All I saw was him walking back and forth on the sidelines for most of the game.
I guess when your not in the game, you do become a non-factor.

Allen will win the battle of the bands because of the sheer size of the thing...:p

methinks if the Skeeters execute the way they should, then they'll come out on top. I saw them play Longview at Memorial and their game plan was pretty good, but they couldn't hold onto the ball and Longview capitalized.

Gimme mesquite 27 alen 21

This should be a great game. Hopefully LP will get by RR Saturday and can square off with the winner. To keep from sounding like a major homer, and having seen all three teams in action this year, I will not predict the winner should that game occur.

I like Allen. I go to church with some kids that play for the Eagles. I feel for The Skeeters, because they have to play the old E-Texas district that we were removed from 3 years ago. My heart bleeds Purple. LP has always got to be first in my book.

Good luck all. Hopefully we will see each other in rd. 3

Congrats, you called it close. with a 17 point win instead of 14. I don't know if anyone would have called the 101 points total.

Thanks for your support. I am Pulling for you guys against Lee.

Listening to the game now. Looks like both defenses showed up to this game!
