The Saints will Practice in the Alamodome...still deciding where they will play their home games(Houston or San Antonio) The HISD schools are letting the kids go to school here. Havent heard anything about playing yet.

I wouldnt doubt it. There is a max exodus of the New Orleans and Southern Louisiana are and 90% of its heading toward Texas.

to get away from the devastation heading east would be a trip of over 300 miles or more. lots of havoc in a huge area.unless you desperately need the rain, being west is best.

I see Houston is really putting out a helping hand.

Makes sense to move the Saints to San Antonio - this is huge folks - it will be months before New Orleans is even open to the public again - let alone play a game there.

Who else does this affect - Tulane? and all the high schools. Shreveport makes sense as well - lots of facilities there. This is minimal concern today, but just thinking about the next 90 days.

Yea... every hotel in Longview is booked. I drove through the parking lot of 3 hotels that are all together today and every car just about had a Louisiana license plate.

Our civic center i guess you can call it out by the fairgrounds is also a place where alot of people have came for shelter. Its a big place and is filled to capacity just about.

Proud to call myself a Houstonian now. La. residents get in free to Zoo's, Parks, Astros and comets games....Tommorrow's UH-Oregon game....UT- La. Lafeyette. Strangers paying for hotel rooms weeks at a time. Neighbors helping each other....that's great.

tulane is practicing in dallas before their opener with smu. they have no where to go but to their next opponents home, at least for now. lsu/unt was rescheduled. how about southern miss or many of the la schools, mostly d-1aa? the schedule makers are really scrambling all over to try to make adjustments. what a disaster to more than the obvious sufferers. hard to feel too bad for the peripherals, i guess.

The Louisiana High School Athletics Assoc director basically said that all the High school teams in the Southern half of Louisiana probably wont have a football season. He said it was the last thing they were worried about right now. " I agree with him."

I believe alot the East Tx schools are taking many new students this week. I read somewhere else that some Mississippi and Alabama families have also traveled over to Texas and will enroll students in schools.

In the Dallas area, Reunion Arena will be made available as a shelter. The Rangers are offering free tickets for the rest of the season to any displaced Louisiana residents. Hotels here are getting booked solid, too...

Currently LSU-Shreveport is housing over 1000 people and they have opened up the Hirsh Memorial Coliseum to take on more people because they are running out of room elsewhere.
The Hirsh is right next to the Indy Stadium so if any of you will be in town for the rumble Saturday, please make it a point to drop by and make some kind of a donation. I'm sure they could use whatever you could spare. Also remember a lot of these people brought pets and pet food is always a plus.
I think most all the hotels in shreveport/bossier are booked solid and then
some.

Alot of people from new orleans came here for help at red cross (in Tyler) i mean ALOT and alot of Hotels are full (I think full or almost).

This is very sad, and alot of them lost there home and going to need shelter for a month. I mean alot of people don't understand that. I wish I could help by myself but I can't because I am not an adult yet, dang it.

I know that Tulane is staying at some hotel in Dallas like somone said above.

They'll be practicing at all SMU factulities as far as I've heard. What their students will do I have no idea.

Not sure if anyone has transferred to Longview or not yet, wouldnt be surprised if it happens though.

Like Lobo Dude said above, every hotel in Longview is completely booked.

the ncaa will have to make some decisions as to eligibility as they don't think there will be any school at several institutions this fall. can they still play if they aren't in school?

Saints are scheduled to practice in the SAISD Spring Sports complex and possibly even play regular season games in the Alamodome.
