I thought about unfiring Deer Park.

In D1, I'm going with Laredo United to have a shot to do something special. That 6-4 Abilene team just might win enough to win the Region in D2.

D1: I think Skyline's defense could get them a long way.
D2: I think Flower Mound could get as far as the regional final before falling to Cedar Hill.

I think that Cy Fair is set up to make a good run this year. I think they'll make it all the way to the region 3 finals.

Lufkin and SLC in D1:eek: Two relatively small schools potentially playing against schools with enrollments exceeding 5,000.

Plano's enrollments are edited by UIL, though. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe their Sr. Highs only have 11th and 12th graders in them. Therefore, the true enrollment is half if what is listed.

LOL:confused: UIL counts 9th thru 12th including 9th grade centers, feeder schools etc. Its the same for everybody in the state.

Not in Texas...they count 9th-12th boys and girls.

I'll go with Stratford and Brazoswwod, turned last years losing records into 9-1 this year with outright district championships. Both should make some noise in the PO's

This is the second year in a row Deer Park has got into the playoffs. What do you mean by surprise?

Deer Park's not a surprise. They've been to the POs that last 3 or 4 yrs. Pasadena Memorial is the surprise. They are pretty good. All they need is more depth.

All 9th-12th graders are counted. The private schools that are male only have their numbers doubled.

actually, ET has 2765. Just about a thousand more than you said they did. You might wanna search the site and find that before you make yourself seem pretty silly saying such a thing.

The split doesn't really make a difference. NS is split in2 2 different campuses, the High skool for 9 &10 and the Sr. High 4 the 11 & 12. Regardless of the split game attendance isn't really effected b/c Fish, Soph., Jrs. , & Srs. come to the games! As well as some of the local middle schoolers, which is a whole other story.

This is the 1st yr. Pasadena Memeorial has had Srs. and I think that has a lot 2 do w/ it as well. They're a fairly new school, so it will be interesting to see how they get better over the yrs.

I think when the season started anyone would have been hard-pressed to say "The Arlington Bowie Volunteers are going to make the playoffs", they are my surprise team. :D

Westwood. Coming off a 2-8 season last year (and mediocrity in general for the last several years), they had a complete turnaround to take 2nd in 14-5A and make D1 playoffs with an 8-2 record.

Plano ISD has 3 senior High Schools. I will talk about East. Plano East has two feeder high schools (9th & 10th) grade which are on Seperate campuses (Clarkl High School and Williams High School). The freshman and sophmores can play up in sports if they are good enough which is rare in a school this big. Justin Blalock (UT guard/tackle) and Wes Bankston (Tampa Bay Devil Ray minor leagues) played up as sophmores and started. The East Marching band has only Juniors and Seniors. This may explain why Plano East has won Sweepstakes for 25 consecutive years. The two feeder high schools have their own marching bands which explains why the biggest high school in Texas only has about 220 in their marching band. If they all marched together they would number over 600. And that is without marching band being mandatory for everyone in the HS band programs.
